Nous avons fait le tour de l’île de la Grenade en compagnie de 2 couples d’amis avec Bruno, un français établi dans l’île depuis 13 ans et qui possède même la nationalité Grenadiene ! Auparavant, Bruno possédait un restaurant et enseigné le métier de cuisinier dans l’école hôtelière de l’île. Malheureusement, le Covid est passé par là et il a dû fermer son établissement. Comme en Grenade il n’y pas d’assurance chômage ni santé, les personnes doivent se débrouiller ! Bruno, a dû se reconvertir en cuisinant pour des événements locaux et privés, en surveillant les bateaux de français pendant la saison cyclonique et en travaillant comme guide, car il possède une licence officielle, pour les quelques touristes, comme nous. Bruno connaît l’île comme sa poche et plein de monde le salue partout ou il passe. Cela lui permet d’avoir accès à des endroits que le simple touriste ne peut ou ne sait pas ! Encore un beau week-end à Dieppe sur notre voilier. Même si la météo n'était pas au rendez-vous nous en avons bien profité. Une navigation dimanche d'environ 3h histoire de continuer la prise en main du bateau. Ce n'est pas toujours simple de gérer les envies des filles , la bonne marche du bateau , l'estomac qui doit s'amariner et de filmer en même temps. Et oui je n'ai pas encore changé ni les pavillons, ni rangé les pares-battages!!! Assim que chegamos em Bertioga, a Bia já estava me esperando ansiosa para conhecer nossa nova casa. Passamos dois meses descobrindo o veleiro, reparando, organizando e nos adaptando à esta maravilhosa nova vida que escolhemos. Na travessia de POA houve uma pequena entrada de água pela vigia de bombordo (lado esquerdo da embarcação), pouca coisa mas suficiente para queimar o inversor (equipamento responsável por transformar energia 12 volts das baterias em 220 volts) e o carregador de baterias da tomada de cais que ficavam sob o assento da mesa de navegação. Substituí aquele por um aparelho que eu já possuía, além de realocá-lo sob a mesa de navegação onde é mais ventilado e a água só chega se o barco afundar. Deus me livre! Recebemos a família que, assim como eu e Bia, nunca haviam experienciado a vida em um veleiro. Foram meses mágicos em contato com a natureza e com muito trabalho dedicado à adequar o barco à nossas necessidades e encaixar nossas poucas coisas remanescentes em um espaço muito menor do que estávamos acostumados. A Bia, acredite se quiser, não sabia nadar. Não, amigo, não estou exagerando tão pouco me referindo aos quatro estilos de nado, ela na água era como uma pedra. Esta inabilidade me causava extremo desconforto quando no barco, eu ficava quase que constantemente em estado de alerta e a obrigava a vestir seu colete flutuador, primeiro acessório que comprei antes mesmo de adquirir o barco, em todas as situações em que ela sairia do interior do veleiro. Imagine só as limitações que ela tinha, tomar sol, por exemplo... Tratei de me oferecer para ministrar aulas emergenciais relâmpago. Não sou um expert, mas nado desde meus três anos de idade e até participei de campeonatos com ótimos resultados embora minha estatura não me favoreça no esporte. A evolução acompanhou a necessidade e, orgulhoso do desempenho e esforço de minha resistente e reclamante aluna, registrei em vídeo o que ela mesma chamou de "aula roots". Sim meus métodos são questionáveis mas o resultado é impossível de ser negado. Encontrei um vazamento de água que estava me tirando o sono pois toda vez que eu ligava o motor do barco para aquecer a água para o banho, o pocinho sob o motor, enchia se de líquido de arrefecimento que transbordava do reservatório. Havia algumas teorias sobre o defeito, entretanto, para saná-lo eu precisaria desmontar partes mecânicas e devido ao fato de estarmos em um local não totalmente abrigado de ventos e ondulações, ficar com o motor inoperante seria um grande risco para a integridade do barco, assim como da tripulação. Resolvemos então partir para uma marina onde eu poderia reparar o defeito e deixar o barco em segurança durante as festividades de fim de ano, além de efetuar algumas necessárias melhorias, reparos corretivos e manutenções. Partimos então para o Guarujá em nosso primeiro rolê solo, isso mesmo, eu nunca havia velejado sozinho. Espero que gostem do vídeo captado e editado com muita dedicação e carinho! All’inizio si vede il nostro amico Fabio Tonelli che ci ha più volte fatto da guida e con cui siamo ancora in contatto. Ci sono anche i pescatori delle Galapagos, che all'epoca si lamentavano delle limitazioni dovute alla salvaguardia della fauna ittica… È interessante capire come le contraddizioni che allora creavano conflitti nell’Arcipelago, adesso siano state completamente modificate dal Covid. Sembra un'altra era geologica! Fabio ci manda via e-mail un SOS che rilanciamo: « Navi da pesca cinesi ad alta tecnologia invadono l'area marina delle Galapagos! In questi giorni nella zona della spiaggia di TORTUGA BAY in due persone abbiamo raccolto 104 bottiglie di plastica made-in-china». Our time in Bimini was so amazing we couldn't fit it all in one episode, so we made TWO!! In pt.1 we have the experience of a lifetime and get to go freediving with Hammerheads thanks to our friends Stephanie Lynn on 'Sail La Vie'. We got up close and personal with these amazing creatures as well as some nurse sharks and a couple hovering bull sharks that waited around for some scraps. Our friend Matt Grondin, an amazing photographer below and above the oceans surface got some great shots that you can find on Instagram. Nathalie tried out her new Ikalite camera housing that she saved up all summer for and also got some incredible shots. Tyson Sadler and Sophie Miller also created some amazing content from this incredible experience (all accounts listed below). Outside all the shark excitement, we also got invited, on two separate occasions, by sport fishermen to go Wahoo fishing. The first day Nathalie went out on her own Randy and Jeff on 'Reel Escape', Sascha believed she was bad luck and decided to stay back. The following day we both got invited to go out with Bill, Bill, and one Bill's son Tyler. Sascha did join this time around. After a couple hours, Sascha's curse, we called her the banana (bananas are bad luck for fishing we guess...) was broken after we caught not one, but TWO Wahoo. What a great time that was. In this episode, we sail overnight from Bequia to St. Lucia. Although only a 15 hour sail, it was a salty one. We have some issues with our autopilot and arrive in St. Lucia exhausted. After spending all day trying to get checked into Customs and Immigration, we are finally able to roam free. We check out the Castries Central Market and find a couple rum shops, in Gros Islet, to hangout at. We try to find a good dive site but are unsuccessful.
