I took some time to catch a few great little longboard waves. Air temp was 40 degrees F, water was 50 degrees F. The 11 foot soft top board made my attmpts at shooting the pier less risky. Fun day all by myself surfing till I was chilled to the bone. I made some surf music to go with it Enjoy.

Today we’re accompanied with Brian from Dive Munda, a local to this beautiful place, and someone who has dived these reefs for over 20 years. With his vast knowledge of these waters, we set sail to ’Ndokendoke’ island, before hiking our way through the mangroves towards Custom shark cave. This cave system extends from a fresh water pool at the centre of the island, tunnels it’s way through the land, and opens out into the open ocean at an enormous 800 metre reef wall. This year, as Polar Seal was in the yard, we weren’t sure we would be able to replicate the experience. That was until our friends on SY Aequus, a beautiful Bavaria 57C from 2018, invited us for a four days cruise around the island of Curacao. At that time, the government of Curacao was allowing companies of four people to navigate Curacao’s water, and we took advantage of it to depart on a New Year’s sail! All I can say is: we ended 2020 as it was, and started 2021 as we would like it to be! Less than one hour after we left the dock, we caught a squall that made us broach right in front of our buddy boat and the situation was hairy to say the least. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.

We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted 70ft wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. In this episode, we discover more rot (oh well) and in order to get rid of it, we need to remove a huge piece of the boat: the swimming platform! Also, we continue with the building of the sternpost and we need to drill an 11cm wide and over a meter long hole for the prop shaft...using hand tools!! And more: We brought the keel to the boat and this time we are finally very close to its installation! Yabá is looking better every day and we can prove it! We hope you enjoy this! In 1997, after missing out on his Olympic rowing medal dream, Rob decided to row a tiny seven-metre plywood boat, 2500 miles from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean. It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. His first taste of a blue water ocean crossing. Skip forward to 2014, and married with three children we invested in Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Robert's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn 17, Declan 15 and Ivan 12, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world. Part of that journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. We just bought a sailboat, specifically a sailing catamaran and with very little experience we have headed out for a sailing adventure down the east coast of the USA from Annapolis to the Carolinas. With talks of a 6 month lockdown coming to Spain we decided to put a pause on our journey and spend time with Ceylan's family in Cyprus. Due to all the restrictions, we haven't had a chance to fully get into our new life on sea but thought safety was priority and so we sadly left our boat for a little while. We are so grateful that we got to spend some time on sea in 2020 and hope you enjoy the next couple videos on land. We were aware that we would be sent to government approved quarantine rooms when we landed in North Cyprus, but were hoping we may be able to isolate in our home there. When we landed in North Cyprus our passports were confiscated and put onto a coach. We heard that the approved rooms can be anything from University Dorms to 5 Star Hotels. We were in a coach full of students and were driven AWAY from the 5 star hotels so we were a little apprehensive on the journey. Its January 2021 and we are back aboard Frolic. We undertake a big project, replacing two of our solar panels with larger more efficient panels as well as upgrading the wiring and electronics. Then we set sail, first down the ICW to West Palm Beach, then out on the Atlantic to Key Biscayne and finally across the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas. We have a bit of trouble with the weather but persistence pays off.

Um pouco do que foi a Travessia POA PARATY num veleiro de 50 pés... Saída num barco a vela de Porto Alegre rumo a Paraty com escalas em Itajaí e Ilha Bela... Este vídeo mostra um pouco da vida a bordo em uma travessia de veleiro. dias e noites navegando entre céu azul, chuva, sol vento forte e fraco e todo o tipo de particularidades que só uma viagem de barco tem a oferecer. Foram 7 dias de viagem vivendo um sailing life dos sonhos em um JEANNEAU 50 pés, barco recentemente adquirido pelo amigo Angelo e juntamente com o mestre Rene mais eu (Gabe) formamos a tripulação da viagem. Em 3 pessoas levamos a "nave" em segurança de Porto Alegre até Paraty e esperamos, com este video, mostrar um pouco de como é um sail boat life tão sonhado por muitos novos velejadores, que assim como nós, estão sedentos por este tipo de conteúdo e informação. A viagem: Já saindo de Porto Alegre numa tarde ventosa pegamos cerca de 30nós de alheta velejando pela lagoa dos patos, umas 24hrs depois passamos reto por Rio Grande e entrando no mar foram mais 2-3 dias até Itajaí depois Ilha Bela e finalmente Paraty aonde ancoramos no final da viagem para celebrar a ótima semana de velejo. Tenho muito a falar sobre os dias a bordo mas acredito que o video fala por sí e traduz bem a alegria e vontade de fazer cada vez mais este tipo de aventura.
