Sommer, Segeln und zum Abschluss Sturm ... Wir sagen „Bye bye Bornholm“, weil unser Urlaub zu Ende geht, und verlassen von Svaneke aus Dänemark in Richtung Deutschland. Wir fahren durch die Nacht nach Rügen und landen am frühen Morgen in Lohme an, wo wir uns kurz umsehen. Mit Blick auf das Kap Arkona legen wir schon früh wieder ab, frühstücken mal wieder „auf See“ und machen einen kurzen Badestopp mit Gummiente vor dem Kap. Unter Spinnacker cruisen wir anschließend bei idealen Bedingungen gen Westen, umrunden Zingst und gehen nahe Warnemünde für eine Nacht vor Anker. Über einen kurzen Zwischenstopp im Hafen Hohe Düne bei der Seehundaufzuchtstation fahren wir unsere letzte Etappe des Urlaubs in die Warnow ein und erreichen Rostock. Mit einem Besuch des Ostseestadions für das Fußballspiel Hansa Rostock gegen Viktoria Köln und der Veranstaltung „Christopher-Street-Day“ (CSD) feiern wir den gelungenen Törn ... bevor uns doch noch ein Sturm erwischt. So after I had the boat surveyed, we came to an agreement and I purchased the boat. The previous owners allowed me to paint the boat and do other jobs while I organised a crane and a truck to move the boat to south Devon.

How to install a furling system. We replace a Type B Mark I for a Type C FURLEX Roller Furling made by Seldén. As we mentioned on previous videos we want to convert our Sloop Rig into a Solent Rig. The FURLEX we bought was bigger than our current roller furling, which meant that we had to swap them around leaving the bigger one to the front. We had never done this before so it took us some time to figure out how everything should be assembled. Sergey was looking for a crew to bring his boat to the Caribbean. I travelled 1300 km from Montreal to Halifax to join him on his boat. The trip was cancelled two months later for legitimate reasons.  Since I made my way to Nova Scotia I decided to discover this beatiful province before going back to Montreal I have not given up on my dream of sailing. Because of this Corona virus situation in the world It is just being put on hold... Ya desmontamos la estación de radioaficionado, y los equipos de comunicaciones satélite. Volvimos a montar un tanque auxiliar de agua de 200 litros, y junto con los 330 litros del otro tanque se hace suficiente para pasar un fin de semana navegando, no necesitamos ir con instalaciones que no usaremos.

Hello, welcome back! We’re in the Maddalena islands, which are beautiful, paradise-like islands off the Northern coast of Sardinia. We pick Alex’s brother up, making a grand total of us 5 on the boat! The most we've ever had on the boat! It's nice and cozy but it works. We have an accident with the dinghy… so Lars spends a lot of time trying to get the outboard to work again. We sail back to Corsica for the day, and visit the the stunning island of Lavezzu. We check out the cemetery with some creepy history and have an amazing swim the next day. Then we sail back to Sardinia, and sail west towards Stintino. The water maker has an issue on the way and then we manage to lose all our water onboard. We make it to the fishing village of Stintino for a final evening with our friends before saying goodbye! David is especially interesting because he is at the forefront of a number of design trends including aluminum design and a push away from condomarans and towards a focus on lightweight, efficient designs. 75 days after leaving the dock to isolate afloat away from Covid our provisions were holding out but our watermaker needed attention so we sail to Karen’s home town of Airlie Beach and take a berth in a marina for the first time since heading to sea. The Coral Sea Marina is well known as the priciest on the Queensland Coast but is it value for money or just a rip off. We give our opinion. In Airlie Beach Karen introduces Rob to some of the adventure grounds of her high school years with walks to a favourite swimming hole and one of the Whitsunday’s most spectacular lookouts. Here are some scenes of Snow Gum’s Code 0, up close and personal. The squeaking!? We hunted it down, to the Walder Boom Brake. The noise was echoing along the boom, transferring into the mast and even down the mast support post, so we could hear it inside. Hmmmm. 😏 However, we did a big gybe (deliberate!) and the boom brake worked well, slowing down the last part of the swing quite nicely. It’s a fine art, adjusting this boom brake. Too tight and the boom flat refuses to gybe when you want it to. Too loose and it’s like it isn’t there. Practice is needed. Regards, Rick.

When Hawila was built in 1935, frames and planks were fastened using treenails: a traditional and reliable fastening solution for frames and planks on all kind of ships and constructions. From our experience, treenails present a longer lasting fastening solution than galvanised bolts in oak as they won’t deteriorate with time, but are longer to produce and harder to use.
