I take the boat to a nearby island to snorkel and she overhears on the way back. As I start trouble shooting, I start feeling pain in my side, and gale force winds are predicted. I have to go to the ER before e storms come. The storms come boats break loose and there's still the motor to fix! Life in the Keys is a dream!

After disappearing for months, in this episode, as soon as I get to Key West, I have to leave. I travel to California to honor my best friend, Mario, who has passed by spending time with Angela, his wife, Joel Long Beach, Jason and Avalon. When I get back to Key West, I have to set up the solar panels and untangle my mooring lines, discovering a barracuda under the boat! Solo sailing to Key West and arriving at night. A long day sailing, but it felt so good to finally get to my destination!While I don't intend to stay in Key West, it will be a good place to do some maintenance and repairs.

I get a serious education in sailing as I make my way South. I aim for Rodriguez Key, but end up passing it. Conditions are so good, I keep sailing into the night. It's a long and hard, but satisfying day, and I probably sail the most miles I have ever sailed at once.

My steering fix doesn't hold and I lose rudder control again, as I'm approaching a bridge in Miami. I'm forced to cut power and drift through the fixed bridge but my rudder position pushes my stern to starboard and causes me to hit the bridge. I finally made it to Ft. Lauderdale. It's Christmas and I decide to take a few day to kick it with my brother and his wife's family for the holiday festivities. I stop to get fuel at Two Georges while sailing down the ICW to Ft. Lauderdale. Lots of draw bridges and even a long distance kayaker!

I push South to Boca Raton via Delray Beach, and the next morning at Lake Boca Raton, the motor won't start. I go on the search for suitable parts to rebound the fuel line, which isn't so easy in such a "high rent" neighborhood.

A Giant Barracuda surprises my with his presence as I dive into the water to fix a tangled mooring line. He turns out to be a really cool fish who hangs out with me while I work.

Starship continues her journey South heading out on to the North Atlantic Ocean, at Ft. Pierce Inlet. Things go well at first, but of course nothing ever goes exactly as planned when you're sailing. I get in the water at Rivierra Beach and do some hullng, while also making the worst underwater footage in the history of underwater cinematography. I find a set of wheels to help me get parts for the motor. I stretch my legs and cover some ground in my search for an alternator belt in Rivierra Beach, FL.

After nearly 5 months of working on the boat, I finally begin my journey South! As usual, nothing goes exactly as planned, but overall, we make some progress get our scuba tanks and gas jugs filled and start making our way to Ft. I decide to anchor out and and start testing some of the boat's systems. Things do not go as planned. I dragged anchor. More than once. This makes me focus on having a propulsion system that works.

What a year! For many it was a year of challenges and loss. Let's look forward to 2021, and make it a year of progress and bounty.

In future videos I'll show what kind of trash we've been picking up in the ocean. But at the end of the day, as sailors, we are in the nest position to make an impact and reduce our own footprints by picking up plastic that we see in the water. If everyone did that, we'd have a little less plastic in the oceans.

I bought a $50 dinghy on Craigslist, only to have someone GIVE mentee dinghy a few days later. Then someone GIVES me a motor! I didn't ask for these things. I needed them and was working on manifesting them, but I never asked anyone for these critical items. They were just offered to me. That's why I say, "Just show up and start making your dreams come true. The universe will assist you in your endeavors." Of course nothing is perfect and there are obstacles in every gift box! Sorry to drop a spoiler on your guys, but I changed the name of the channel. I have already named the boat Sailing Ketch Starship, and thought it would be appropriate to just share that with you guys so we're all on the same page about her name, at least. I'm editing videos when I can, and I'm going to keep posting them as quickly as I can. I do spend most of my daylight hours sailing so time is a little limited. My nearly free sailboat has been a huge challenge with lots of different kinds of projects to make this 47 year-old boat seaworthy. She hasn't left the marina in 22 years, but soon she'll be sailing the high seas! It'll just take a little work. That's all. In this video you'll see me jump around some from project to project.
