It was amazing to see how massive these beautiful creatures get and managed to see a mama laying her eggs. We showed the Germans how South Africans "Braai". Got our Covid Vaccination..(Felt like zombies for two days) Said farewell to our German friends and played a lot of Mexican Train.... All while continuously pumping up our DINGHY! 🤪🤪 (As much as we love our Dinghy.. we really need to get a hard bottom rib. From loading fishing gear, diving gear etc our ribs floor is just not lasting with us... we have repaired it continuously but enough is enough now.. we cant keep on pumping it up forever! After 3 1/2 months in Saint Martin, it was hard to leave behind our friends and the ease of French life, but knowing we have to be North of Cape Hatteras before 1 June was enough to get us moving. Preparing for a night passage is always daunting, but even more so after months around one island. We made our sail plan and shifted our destination due to the late sail date; we decided to skip St. Croix and head straight to St. John's. The greatest benefit to that is getting to buddy boat for a few days with our friends, Linda and Paul. We were expecting a relatively easy trip, but the swell picked up and the wave length was 5 seconds so while we rode the swell, we did not recover fast enough to avoid the banging. It was a rough 17 hours, but we made it without incident. Upon arrival in St. John's, our cruising guide recommended dropping anchor in Hansen Bay/Round Bay which we did and it was a coral field nightmare. There is very little sand and we struggled to find a place where we could spend the night without worry. Found my Abiet's tape that I made back in the late 80's. Can't help myself. Had to make a video featuring one of Abiet's song ("Mimpi di Parangtritis") We kayak from the Benham Falls trailhead upstream toward Sisters, then slowly floats back with the current. Quiet, peaceful and serene. A great section for kayaking.

Para algunos seguidores que critican mi tendencia a presentar valeros de Bavaria (debo confesar que me gustan por su relación calidad/precio), os dejo este chequeo de punto de un velero de Dufour, velero en el que he hecho algunas regatas. Divertido y ágil, muy rápido que acelera como un condenado. Quien quiera un velero para ganar regatas de club e ir rápido de un sitio a otro no dudéis este es vuestro barco. Sacrifica comodidad y en mi opinión la estructura en algunos puntos muestra debilidad, pero es el precio que hay que pagar para reducir peso y tener un barco competitivo. El interior espartano, es consecuencia de la reducción de peso. Aun así el barco envejece bien, y la unidad del video fue sometida a grandes pruebas de regata de distintos campeonatos consiguiendo muy buenas clasificaciones, y aun así, no mostraba como veis muestras de fatiga. Como conclusión es un barco para divertirse, lo de viajar ya es otra cosa. Buen velero.
