Leaving Fethiye after some more unsettled weather we headed to Boynuzbuku in the Gocek National park to make some water (water in the Fethiye harbour is polluted and not suitable for water desalination) and enjoy some Spring weather. We hoisted a new German crew flag and swapped out our sadly bedraggled maritime New Zealand flag for one I found in the Fethiye chandlery. They didnt have the maritime replacement but instead had one that was printed in anticipation of the NZ government changing its flag several years ago (which didnt happen) Its not an official New Zealand flag but since we cant find the right one .... and most of the commonwealth red ensigns are unrecognisable when hanging flat, we figured this would do for now. ........................................................................... Aug 2020: von der Marina Frapa Dubrovnik segeln wir von Dienstag bis Donnertag zurück nach Trogir. Wir kamen durch mehrere Gewitter, Regen und sahen einen wunderschönen Regenbogen. Wegen der ERklärung zu Kroatien zu einen Hochrisikogebiet endete unser Törn leider schon am Donnerstag Abend, aber es hat riesen Spaß gemacht! Teil 1: Spontan buchten wir eine Bavaria 39 von der ACI Marina Trogir und segelten innerhalb von 2 Tagen nach Dubrovnik in die Marina Frapa. Diesmal waren nur 2 meiner Jungs dabei, die Freundin von Luis, deren Mutter und von der Mutter eine Freundin entschied sich Freitag Abend spontan, spontan noch mit zu segeln ;) Beide waren vorher noch nicht auf einem Segelschiff. Auch kannten wir uns nicht aber es wurde eine tolle und aufregende Woche. Clarissa wollte unbedingt nach Dubrovnik und so "heizten" wir am Sonntag von Hvar bis fast kurz vor Dubrovnik. Die Bedingungen erlaubten eine wundervolle, warme Nachtfahrt Richtung Dubrovnik. Wir genossen den Abend in der Marina Frapa. Go BIG or go home. As Josh always says, we are like insulation, open the bag and we explode everywhere. In the midst of all this activity we had to make one of the hardest decisions a person can make. We said goodbye to an integral part of our family. Our foursome is now a threesome 💙 It seems with this summer coming our way all our regular activities have changed and it is time to create a new reality, completely different from the past. Our passion is Sailing and the Sea, we bought Royal Atenea with the intention to start cruising around the world after spending all our lives working hard at sea. About the Boat ''SY ROYAL ATENEA'' was built in Holland in 1973. Her original name was ''Antares''.She is a Jongert Trewes Design with 5mm Steel Hull and rigged as a Ketch with Aluminium Masts. Her LOA is 19.3m and she has a beam of 4.6m with a draft of 2.98m She weighs 33t and she can cruise at 7 kts with the engine and 8-10 kts on sail depending on the wind. She is fairly comfortable with 15 to 20 kts of wind. Freshwater capacity to last over 2 weeks and a fuel range of 13 days steaming. About the Boat ''SY Red Current'' is a Southerly 31 with the construction of GRP and rigged as a sloop with Aluminium Mast. Her LOA is 31 feet and she has a beam of 10 feet with a draft of 7 feet. She also has an electric swing keel which makes her draft very shallow and easy to enter in shallow water. What makes good crew for a boat? There are a lot of answers out there. For us it has always been important that the person is excited to be aboard and gets along with everyone. After that there is a certain amount of luck. Will our personalities mesh or will the experience leave everyone wanting to jump ship? This is someone's last day aboard in Iceland and we've got to find a safe place for Paragon to ride out the harsh winter in the crazy expensive town of Reykjavík. How much, you ask?
