We are sailing in Croatia and living fulltime on our sailboat during 2021. In our first year as liveaboards, we embark on a passage to explore Croatia from the very south to the northern Adriatic. We share some beautiful anchorages, marinas, unspoiled islands, great sites, and expenses along the way. We recently quit our high-tech jobs in California, bought a sailboat, and moved to the Mediterranean. We are just starting our adventure of sailing around the world and experiencing life on a sailboat. Last season on Stockton Lake. Saying goodbye to friends and beginning the relocation process.

Second sails up for Desi and I. Boat yard to Oakland Marinas. Great sailing, just pay no mind to the tides, I didn't want to run the engine and had never sailed in the Bay a day in my life. I learned allot. Its like white water kayaking a flooded creek for the first time, after years of dreaming about it but not much planning before jumping in, and the shore is allot further away. My Rudder head failed three hours into the trip in the light wind. Granted the yard had supposedly repaired it before launching Desi back into the water. Unfortunately they splashed the boat without me being able to inspect anything, that alone was a disappointment considering I was adamant about being there to watch the launch. The real disappointment was when the rudder head came completely off the shaft and left me with no rudder. I was able to get it on to make it safe to port but the situation could have been way worse. Also the repairs have ever been the same. I took Desi back to the boat yard where they said they would fix the problem without drilling threw the rudder shaft. I was VERY adamant about my shaft not being compromised. After being at the yard for a week I returned to sail her back yet again and what did I notice, a threw bolt drilled directly threw my rudder shaft. All of which could have been avoided in the very first place as my rudder head was over tightened and cracked when first visiting the yard. Granted I have not been sailing near as much as before due to my compromised rudder shaft. I hope you all enjoy the little shorter video. Please subscribe and hopefully many more videos to come soon. So with the Yard Owner (Rod) and his mighty crane and some minor assistance from me, we manage to get the mast removed from Puffin. It looks easy and uncomplicated but was actually hard and a bit nerve racking. I'm not sure how many more grey hairs Rod has having me assist! Now with the mast down it's on to build the shelter, get heat inside and dry her out. Once dry it's bulkheads then the long task of replacing the core material. ► Start of the 36th edition of the ARC 31 Multihulls set out from Las Palmas, bound for Saint Lucia ► 900 participants of 38 different nationalities crossed the startline of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers on Sunday 21st November. Ahead of them, 2,700 nautical miles of Atlantic Ocean and then Saint Lucia. The 31 multihulls in the rally were the first to set off after the starting gun was fired, and as with the 110 monohulls following them, they had to tack to cross the line and were on a beat to reach the southern tip of the island of Gran Canaria. Unusually, a south-easterly wind of 10 to 15 knots had set in, as opposed to the typical north-easterly trade winds. The competitors are forecast to experience very light weather, though most of them should be able to complete the course in 18 to 20 days. Among the fleet of multihulls, we found former winners of the event such as the TS42 Banzaï, the TS5 Guyader Saveol and the NEEL 47 Minimole. Our contributors Brieuc Maisonneuve and Maxence Valdelièvre, respectively aboard the TS5 Addictive Sailing and the Class 6 One Cat, look to have good speed potential - Brieuc appears to be the only multihull skipper giving the northern route a go, in an attempt to catch the low pressure, and thus wind, maybe even a lot of wind... At the skippers' briefing, meteorologist Chris Tibbs advised the boats to head south along the African coast to the latitude of the Cape Verde islands before turning their bows west towards Saint Lucia. In the end, a total of 208 yachts will cross the Atlantic, as the 67 competitors in the ARC+ left Mindelo, Cape Verde, on the second leg of their crossing on Friday, November 19th, bound for Grenada. A further 60 yachts will be taking part in the first edition of an ARC in January, marking the first time that there’s been a third transatlantic rally organized by the World Cruising Club. How to fix both a rough ride or a sagging Jeep, Truck, or Car with leaf springs. This video shows you how to relieve bent suspension tension, relax your ride, and reduce lean. Although it will not fix worn springs or bushings, you should still follow these steps when you replace the worn parts. Due to a damaged leaf spring, we demonstrate this with our Jeep. As a result, the shackle collapsed against the frame, pushing the front passenger side upward. Having the front raised caused the rear drivers side to sag, not pretty. As a result, there was a very rough ride, and drivability issues. How To Install Rough Country Lift: https://youtu.be/HBRZwK_BUMg Having replaced the spring, see the video above if you are doing more extensive suspension work, it was time to relax the suspension. The ride of your lifted vehicle may be compromised if the leaf spring shackle position doesn't match the above thumbnail. Tools needed are a tape measure, wrenches, sockets, and a torque wrench impact. First, we want to measure at each corner of the vehicle or at each tire to see how much correction is needed. The following steps will only correct an inch of suspension ride height difference if you have not replaced any components. Once you have your baseline showing you how much correction is needed, you can loose the shackles. Don't take the nut off all the way, just loosen them. You may need to loosen the bracket that holds the other side of the leaf spring. Although I didn't think I would have to loosen the leaf spring frame mount, I did. Once the springs can pivot freely on the bolts, go back and measure the results. Rock the vehicle a little to help things settle. If this corrects our issue then it is time to tighten things back up again. If not, it is time to consider rearching or replacing leaf springs. When you tighten the leaf spring shackles and the frame mount, make sure they are torqued tp spec. Our vehicle in the video was 100 ft lb at the frame, and 95 ft lb where the spring met the shackle. Doing this got our suspension pretty close to balance. It should further settle since we did replace a front spring before doing this. Hopefully, this will help, but we do have more detailed repairs to make, such as installing a lift. Also, we have gear change videos for those bigger tires with Dana 30 and 35 axles. I decide to replace my lower shrouds with Dynice Dux before heading south, not wishing to push my luck with the 30+ year-old wire shrouds. Of course it's never so simple. Progress is hampered by inclement weather, and the fact that the Colligo thimbles for 7mm Dux and a 1/2" pin will not fit inside the jaws of my rigging toggles. So nearly two weeks is spent grinding the aluminum thimbles to size ... and of course I do not wish to head direct offshore with brand new rigging, so a short cruise on the Bay is in order. We were living on a prayer alright, a prayer for some wind! But what we found was some awesome seamanship and squeezing every bit of polar optimals that we could out of the old gal. Even double-handed sailing can feel like single-handing at times. #sailing #boat #liveaboard #doublehanded #offthegrid So who is this crazy sailing couple? We are trying to sail around the world, West About, via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good hope. Unlike some of the other new sailing channels, we are not just some hot bodies or sexy girls in bathing suits that don't know how to sail. We are experienced racing sailors that know how to get the best performance out of a boat, navigate in extreme conditions, and have lots of fun! So, we hope we don't have too many boat fails and keep it all about a beautiful sailboat sailing at her best! This isn’t a Captain Ron movie, it’s the real deal. If it’s gonna happen, it will happen out there! Join us as we keep on trucking across the Atlantic, from St. Maarten to the Azores in this leg of our around the world circumnavigation. We quit our jobs and launched our boat in July of 2019 and have sailed over 7,000 miles so far crossing oceans. This relaxing video has us sailing in the Atlantic ocean, during our transatlantic voyage. Our weather routing has us making a straight shot, rather than over the top of low pressure systems via Bermuda. This is unconventional, but so is our trip. Our route will continue to take us in the Portuguese trades, to the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, then on to Argentina, Chile, Cape Horn, and Patagonia. This is where we really want to sail away to and escape into the purity of nature. We hope to get there, but this trip is not easy. Like you, before we left we also watched the inspiring videos of s/v Delos, Sailing La Vagabonde, Project Atticus, and Gone with the Wynns to name a few. We have to take a moment to thank those that have gone before, and we hope that we can inspire you like we were. I have been getting challenged for months by my friend Patty to a dinghy race with my brand new Highfield 380 with a 2-stroke yamaha 25Hp on the back, against his 25Hp Johnson, which he claimed was the fastest dinghy in Linton bay. With only 4 people, we manage to lift our 25 ft, 300 pound transom into place. In this week's episode, we focus on not only lifting the transom to get it up to the bridge deck, but find what's necessary to get it to, more or less, fit like a glove. We have four people and a set of scaffolding, but you'll have to tune in to find out how we use it! One thing we did realize is that our two aft bulkheads were just a little too high, but we needed the transom in place to figure out exactly how much to cut down and where. So, guess who gets to slide into a space just big enough to fit their body so they can make the markings on the bulkheads? We hope you enjoy! Much love from Annapolis!
