Depois de reiterar por muitos anos que nunca teria um animal na minha casa, uma cadela pariu na porta da minha residência e fui "obrigado" a cuidar da mãe e de dois filhores. Não gostava desse bicho. Mas, a partir do sétimo mês de idade notei que o macho (o THOR) era muito apegado comigo. Então comecei a leva-lo diariamente nas minhas caminhadas. Criou-se, entre nós, uma amizade muito bonita e elogiada por pessoas amantes dos pets. Com o tempo, de forma natural e impeceptível, o cão passou a me obedecer em muita coisa, Inclisive não atravessandoa rua sem minha ordem. No mês que completei 66 anos, e o Thor 2,5 anos, por insistênica de amigos e principalmente da minha filha, comprei minha primeira bicicleta da vida. Quando fui pedalar a primeira vez meu corção partiu ao deixar meu amigo. Tentei coloco-lo no guidão, mas ele é grande e eu muito barbeiro. Então encostei a bike e não andei enquanto não comprei um reboque para puxá-lo. Como sou aventureiro por natureza, resolvi criar um desafio: sair de Morrinhos, GO, e chegar até Paraty, RJ, onde mora minha filha. Curaçao, drôle de petite îles des Caraïbes, hors du commun avec une touche européenne immanquable. Sailing into Nagasaki! A dream come true. As with other Kyushu ports I had been to before, I had arrived by bicycle. A city rich historically, culturally, and topographically, to arrive by sea is a real treat, particularly given that the city just celebrated the 450th anniversary of the first foreign arrivals at Dejima. We also sailed right by what CNN describes as Japan's most freaky island. Hashima. Wow . . what an eerie place. The most dramatic scene in Skyfall, the Bond movie was filmed there. In this short episode we briefly race a Hanse 385, struggle to anchor in the Nämdö anchorage and then check out why with the Powerray Wizard underwater drone. This was really the first test of the Rocna Vulcan 20kg anchor, it held overnight and we have had no problems with it since, but we will test it more into 2022. Have a great Christmas everybody!

Cairns to Kuranda and Black Mountain Road. Fun ride.

We sailed thousands of miles in the tradewinds in our 32ft Eclipse catamaran. We are seen here sailing under autopilot in company with a much larger monohull. Our speed was 10-12 knots, theirs was about 7. They took photos of us as we passed them, and it is one of those that is the heading photo for my youtube channel. You can see the mainsail has a tight preventer to control twist and stabilise the sail. And, although you cannot see it, the genoa is barberhauled out, again to reduce leech twist. (You can see it in the heading photo though) With careful positioning of the stoppers only two winches are needed for all sail controls, including spinnaker and screecher. The wood burning stove had little use! So the chimney was capped over. The 200w solar panels were just enough to be self sufficient for power so we never needed to run the engine for battery charging, yet we had a fridge/freezer and full electronics. We head out on Peanut to check on the mud nets which Magnus has set. Wow! We are lucky to catch quite a few crabs, the first time for many months. Wendy makes yummy bread rolls to go with the delicious mud crabs. We leave Port Douglas and make our way out to the reef, Mackay Reef, which we have all to ourselves for a little while. Then we continue our sail towards Cooktown and on the way we catch a beautiful spotted mackerel. Thanks for watching and see you all next time. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.
