Rigged a 5:1 block and tackle and hoisted myself half way up then someone else continued hoisting the rest of the way, so I can hold a safety line around the mast. Changed the mast head light. Fed the spinnaker halyard through a block then changed the steam head light bulb.

Relatively little is known about the Thresher Shark. In Alor the local fishermen have been catching them for many years, for meat and to sell the fins. A high percentage of the sharks caught are pregnant females. Two young Indonesians heard about this and decided to investigate. They started Thresher Shark Indonesia, raised funding and then started a tagging program to gather more information. They then started working on informing the fishermen and began working with them to switch to more sustainable species and provided them with the boats and equipment to do this. We joined them in Alor to witness the culmination, the hand-over and signing ceremony in which the fishermen publicly stated their intentions to no longer target the Thresher Shark. Its very cool to see young Indonesians beginning to be guardians of their amazing underwater paradise. It's post hip replacement surgery so I'm coming close to the end and it's Christmas time. I'm staying at my other son's apartment in Montreux. It's in the city and I have to walk up and down three flights of steps, so that's good for my rehabilitation. We anchored for three days in the tropical blue waters of Klein Curacao. The island is only 1.7 square kilometres (that’s 0.66 sq miles) and it lies 10 km (or 6.2 miles) southeast of Curacao. Klein is the dutch word for little. It’s a flat island that has no permanent inhabitants, only a few palm frond covered sheds for day-trippers. The epoxy priming process begins. First mist coat diluted with 20 percent thinner as prescribed by Hempel for the first mist coat. Makes a visual difference and also highlights the areas that require my attention. Strangford sailing club held the 3rd and final race of the 2021 Narrows Regatta under sunny skies with 4 to 14 knots of breeze from the north north east. The team on Animal were in pole position to tack the series after a posting a 1st and a 2nd in the heats 1 & 2. The local boats would be pushing hard to see if they could end the series on a high. While first place looked to be locked in there was plenty to play for with four or 5 boats still in contention for a podium place. Nous finalisons l'installation du portique solaire et des divers bouts dans la matinée car nous sommes attendus au grutage après le déjeuner. Mais mettre un bateau à l'eau perpendiculairement au courant n'est pas simple du tout. Enfin nous pouvons descendre la Loire jusqu'à tourner la marque latérale bâbord N° 10, en direction de Pornichet. Premier journée de navigation, mais le trip nautique peut commencer...

Après tous ces moments partagés avec les copains, c'est maintenant à deux que nous poursuivons l'aventure. Nous débarquons au Lavandou pour profiter de quelques restos et de balades en ville et le long de la côte, avant de repartir vers l'Est, pour mouiller l'ancre plage du Crocodile, dans la baie de Cavalaire.

Hey! We are Matty and Brit and proud owners of a 2009 43 Beneteau Oceanis! Welcome to the beginning of our journey which we get to live through again making and sharing these videos with you. ________________________________________________ This is what we know about Wicked... Wicked is a 2009 43 Beneteau Oceanis that was chartered through the moorings and ownership was transferred to two different families before she was met by both hurricane Maria and Irma in 2017. She was salvaged and stripped of most of her electronics and working parts but left with a good motor and mast. There was quite a bit of damage on her starboard side where she was beached in St. John and the bottom part of the rudder was broken off. When salvaged she was hot patched, filled with foam, screws and plywood to stop her from taking on water then taken to a mooring where she would spend 3 years waiting for us to take her on. In those 3 years the damage done to the starboard side hadn’t been addressed. So slow leaks into the fiberglass festered, rotted and had to be dealt with. _______________________________________________ Our Plans We plan to do a full refit on Wicked and make her better than new! She lacks many of her systems including electric, plumbing, navigation and running rigging to start. While its a ton of work we get to start from scratch and make her ours before moving on board! We feel well looked after and spend some time sorting out our winter mooring lines, scrubbing the decks and showing you some new electronic boat kit we have invested in. If one where to take "Bronze Casting for Boat Builders" at the Wooden Boat School the first project would be to cast a bronze cleat. Inspired by the classic Herreshoff cleat Bob make the first casting for the Haven 12 1/2 a cleat. After waking up at anchor on the edge of the Delaware Bay in the southern marshlands of New Jersey, we point our catamaran Northwest up the Delaware River. The wind and the current are against us, so we make very slow progress towards the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. I have pulled together some popular yachts from our video archive so you can compare how they have evolved over the years. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 29.2 legend, hundreds were sold back in the day, when the Jeanneau factory policy was to use a conventional propellor and shaft rather than a sail-drive system. The underwater part of the hull has an excellent profile. In some ways, it's better than almost flat bottom shapes we now find on many yachts today. As I've found, Flatter bottom Yachts do tend to be a little faster in calm conditions but can slam uncomfortably in rough weather when you're on the motor. All lines are LED neatly back to the cockpit. This certainly helps if you're sailing shorthanded. Tiller steering is nice on a small yacht if you are short-handed, when blustery conditions demand precise and quick control, one hand on the tiller and the other on the main sheet. This is a great use of space down below. It helps to make the yacht feel bigger than she actually is, although the forward cabin is a little cosy for two sizable sailors. An L shaped galley and well-positioned chart table is a great set-up and is still the most used option on most medium-sized yachts. She has a good size cabin to port, the heads to starboard are equally well proportioned. This is a great yacht, and it's little wonder buyers find used market prices have always remained strong for this model. Dufour 335 Grand Large. This yacht has an extra-wide cockpit. The dual helm allows for easy access around the cockpit. The yacht will also benefit from additional buoyancy astern, which will add to her speed in calm conditions. A conventional layout here benefits from the additional beam in the stern, this allows for a large cabin and heads compartment aft. Jeanneau Sunrise 35 built-in 1988, she's narrower than the other yachts featured, and as was the style back then she has tiller steering. Down below the accommodation is good, however, the cabins are rather tight in comparison to modern yachts of the same size. Hanse 371 from 2003, she has a good-sized cockpit and was certainly designed with fast cruising in mind. Below, the interior is delightful. She has a good size galley with the heads compartment opposite, allowing access to a reasonable size aft cabin. This particular yacht looked as if she'd hardly ever been used when I sold her and was a credit to the first owner.
