They will hold strong. Obviously they will surface rust, but still better than the plastic clips that will become brittle. Once they are not in service (after years) they can be recycled.
After a little trailer "docking" accident I wanted to check the Keel Hanger.

Had to do maintenance on my Mercury 2.5 hp outboard motor. This was the simplest way to make a stand and test tank. It only works with small engines. For a bigger engine add a plywood pad on both ends and screw though it sandwiching the garbage can for added strenght.

Went out sailing...but it wasn't a wind day, however we just wanted to get away. This is an old video from a few years ago when I had my '75 Catalina 25
Having a bad exhaust leak we replaced the gaskets on the Atomic 4 Engine. Catalina 30
I had to remove the keel to find where the leak was. Water was coming in from the keel housing (cavity). It ended up having a crack next to the keel lock bolt. I fiberglassed it shut. The keel lock is not necessary in my opinion. If one runs aground the keel can kick back and not rip out the keel lock.
Installed Happybuy EVA Foam Faux Teak on the cockpit settees and inside. Moved and mounted the battery behind one of the settees in the galley. Mounted the solar panel on the sliding hatch and installed a forward hatch.
First time sailing a Catalina 30 in Long Island Sound, NY. This was last year on 2021. There were engine exhaust problems with too much smoke coming out around the seals before we were able to head out. Finally that was fixed.
This is how I step and lower the mast on my 1973 Catalina 22 swing-keel sailboat.
25 mph winds with one reef on my Catalina 25. Winter sailing in Austin, Texas I do not have her anymore, however now I have a 1973 Catalina 22. This was and old video I "recycled".
The rudder broke off my Catalina 25 and did not feel like spending over a thousand dollars on a new one. I've had some ponderosa pine laying around in my garage, however I should have used marine grade plywood. I would have been easer and quicker to craft.
