If Your Bi-Fold Door is off track, or even to the point it falls out, here is haw to fix it. We have two boys that seem to break things, like the bi-fold door, light switches, the trim on the floor, bed, the list goes on. They don't do it out of malice, boys just seem to just be a little rougher, like when they tackled this bi-fold door. The bi-fold door just seemed to be in the way of their wrestling match and couldn't withstand their combine weight falling into it. So now I am going to show you how I fixed this. This includes replacing the folding door bottom pivot and adjusting it. Fixing the bent track the bi-fold door hangs in. Adjusting the top pivot bracket on the folding door. and aligning the top wheel guide so the bi-fold door stays on track. Q: You've got 17" Garmins up here and you've got Garmins upstairs as well on the tower. You interface the gyro data to the screens. The Quick Gyro comes with the QNN Interface (Quick Nautical Network), which you opted for. It allows you to put the controls for the gyro through your Garmin screens. Here you've got Garmin, but it could be RayMarine, Furano, Simrad, B& G or Lowrance. Why is that important for you as a game skipper with multi-stations? A: I'm driving at multi-stations. I'm operating the boat in the flight ridge, as well as up in the tower, and the main control of the gyro is obviously in the saloon where it's in a friendly environment out of the weather. But having it up here, I can still control the whole boat. So you can put it in standby mode and you can see on here on the screen (obviously the gyro is off at the moment) you've got the speed of the rotation of the gyro, and you've got the precession angle of the gyro; you have standby mode at the touch of a button, which as we were saying before, allows you to lock the precession and deactivate the effects of the gyro. ‘Start’ and ‘stop’ you can monitor the gyro from up here and there is the exact same ability through all the screens on the dash as well as the ones upstairs on the tower. So going back to what we were saying before, you use that a lot when you're up in the tower when you say when you hook up the fish right, that's when you start being able to monitor what's going on exactly. So I could do that from any one of the four screens I have here, or I can do it from any one of the three screens I have up in the tower. PG: So the alternative is yelling downstairs to get somebody else into it while they're trying to fight the fish! LF: Exactly, and they do not need to do that, that's something that i can look after and you know you can do it on any one of 7 screens I’ve got on the boat, and being able to look at how it's working and how it's operating; so bangles is doing it OK it's not just a little light that says it's on - that's right, we've got full control and know exactly what the gyro is doing at any moment of the day. .............................................................................. Q: With the quick gyro, you get full interface with the machine; so you can look at the performance in terms of procession angles, you can look at bearing temperatures - you can look at all sorts of data as the machine is operating. And as part of what the Quick does, we have standby mode, which allows you at a touch of a button to stop, to neutralize, the anti-roll effect and therefore get full control of the boat as though you have no Gyro on the boat at all. Some manufacturers discount that and say that that's a complete gimmick, however I think, and I believe you do also, that standby mode is very important when chartering the type of fishing that you do. Tell us a little bit about that please. A: Absolutely. For our application being a Marlin fishing boat, generally it's on when it's rough, and it's important because the key to the gyro is it stops the boat from rocking…which is great when you're going forward but it works against you when you're reversing backwards, when we're chasing marlin. Q: what does that mean specifically when you're going backwards, why is it working against you? A: Because it's on when it's rough and we're reversing generally into the sea; the boat doesn't naturally want to roll so the water comes in over the transom and across the corner like it wouldn't if the boat was with it turned off, the butt would roll and go over the waves. But because we're going backwards now it goes basically straight down and through the waves. So when we hook up and we're fighting a fish, it's important to me to be able to turn it off and put it on standby mode so the boat rocks naturally, so we keep the water out of the cockpit, continue fighting the fish as long as you like, and the boat will handle its way as though it didn’t have a gyro on it. It just rolls, carries on like exactly like we didn't have one - it's very important without it, we could potentially sink the boat (there she goes - the fish won! :)). It would make fighting the fish a lot harder. When it's rough it can get pretty wet down, there so being able to turn that off, it's very, very important for us, and to be able to have that function. You get control of your boat back. It's like an autopilot switch, switch it off and you get control of the boat back. There's nothing else fighting your boat, it is just you driving, then with the push of a button it’s instant and back on again you off you go start trolling again. To be able to have that interface onto all my screens, which we'll talk about, is amazing… it's not a gimmicky thing - it's a deal breaker - it's an important safety feature. You know it's not just for that situation, but there's a lot of other applications where that standby mode is important and should be used. ............................................................................... Q: You mentioned that you use the gyro a lot at night; so when you're out on the reef and you're out on the charters for 3 or 4 days, or a whole week, you often moor behind the reef at night, and depending on tide and weather, you can have some rough conditions overnight. So tell us a little bit about the gyro at night, because a lot of our clients ask ‘is it noisy?’ ‘can you sleep with it on?’ What's your experience with that? A: Pretty much you can just turn the gyro on at the start of your trip and you turn it off at the end of the trip. It looks after the changing conditions anyway. So if it's calmer, it doesn't work as hard as if it's rough or it is compensating for that. But at nighttime, we leave it on at nighttime, particularly in those rough conditions and because it's mounted in between the engines in the engine room it's pretty well sound insulated and it's very quiet. You can't hear the generator and you can't hear the gyro over the generators anyway. Just makes you sleep nice at night, everybody wakes up in the morning not in the middle of the night - no one rolls out of bed when the tide changes 😊 ............................................................................... Q: You mentioned about using the Quick Gyro when the vessel is underway. As you know, the Quick Gyro is the only gyro in the world that spins the mass vertically, like a bicycle tyre, so it tends to, and we've had naval architects confirm, reduce the course deviation and track deviation with beams and following sea. But that's on paper! A naval architect took out all the instruments, he measured at a very significant production at least 20%; but what about you? You're driving the boat, you turn it on, you turn it off… A: As we know, real world testing is different on paper, but when I first got it, we mostly just used to turn it on when we got out fishing and started trolling, or turn it on at night-time on the reef when the boat started rocking. But now I pretty much turn it on before I leave the dock, particularly if it's going to be a little bit rough, because it performs so well while the boat's underway. So this cruises between 25 to 27 knots and I say down sea, beam on sea, you know at that speed it's hard to believe that it does work and it is so efficient. Don’t feel it as much at that speed, but it's noticeable, particularly down sea or cross sea or if you're running on autopilot - your variation and you're tracking is so much straighter and I believe the boat runs so much nicer with it. ............................................................................... Q: So Luke, let's talk about performance. The Quick Gyro has adaptive performance that gives precession movement. What precession does is it constantly studies the movement of your boat and adjusts the precession angle and the response of the precession so that the boat is stabilized from when you're fishing in chop and when you're fishing in big seas. What does that feel like to you when you are driving the boat? A: Well, essentially it stops to go from rocking, and that's the noticeable difference. There’s a tremendous amount of difference when it’s on vs when it’s off. Essentially, it’s killing the rock of the boat. You do feel a bit of a sensation of the Gyro moving at the extremities when it stops, of course it has to do that, but underway, it’s fantastic; trolling - it's a big difference. But we mostly put the Quick Gyro on for anchoring at night-time. Most of our trips are liveaboard trips out on the reef, and we're anchored behind the reef at night, so it's subject to tides and weather. If you get strong winds and big tides, it can still be pretty rollie behind the reef. Q: Do you ever try seeing what the difference is when you put it in standby mode and disconnect it, and then put it back and reactivate it just to see how much of a difference it is doing in those sea conditions? A: yeah, a lot of our clients sometimes ask what's it like with it off? It's easy, here you go, I’ll just show you, and I whack it on standby and they are, ‘quick, turn it back on again!’ ............................................................................... Q: Luke, tell us a little bit about why you chose the Quick Gyro? A: We went with a Quick Gyro mainly because it was an aftermarket install and space was an issue! Luckily enough the Quick Gyro fit right in the space that we had, so that was one big plus for us, in-between engines in the engine room. The simpleness of the operation is another contributing factor; but also the fact that it's air-cooled and not water-cooled is a huge part for us. We spend a lot of time, because it's a marlin fishing boat, fighting fish. So we're backing up and reversing and we get a lot of air and turbulence under the boat. However we don't have any troubles with air locks in pumps or anything like that because it's all air cooled. ............................................................................... Gas, boats, gas on boats- a combination which could have turned pretty dangerous had we not fixed it. Although we had put it off for a little while- enough was enough and it was time to tear it apart and replace it all. Also- we got a tender! At last! Trouble is- we were in a pandemic, had a university degree to finish, on a student budget, only had ever sailed dingies, oh and didn’t have a boat. The dream seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane. However, we worked hard, finished our degrees, worked as many hours as physically possible, saved with all our might, got experience and in March 2022 bought our very own sailboat, Teulu. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on. We hope you can join us as we sail around the world and keep #bloodydoingit #sailing #boatlife

In this video you get to do an inspection with The Mobile Boat Guys Professional Yacht and Boat Detailing. In addition, we will discuss our processes and strategies removing oxidation. In a lot of instances boat owners all the time will try to get us to give them a quote over the phone or a ball park figure of what the cost is going to be. We are transparent with our pricing structure located on our website www.mobileboatguys.com; however, it’s almost next to impossible to give a customer a “accurate,” quote without visually inspecting the boat and checking the condition of the gel-coat. Every boat is different and exposed to different conditions, some are stored out doors and some indoors. Even though the boat was stored indoors doesn’t necessarily mean that boat is in greater condition than the boat store outside. So it’s always best to go do an onsite visit. I can emphasize that enough. In this video we inspected a red severely oxidized Cobalt that is in desperate need of some love and later we take a look at our processes and show you the final product. We also discuss the process of wetsanding and how decide when wetsanding will be necessary. The importance of doing work. We discuss the quickest way to detail a severely oxidized boat. Just do it right the first time. Follow us: IG: https://www.instagram.com/p/CNwN4XwHb5z/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Facebook: https://fb.watch/dckpOHimIq/

Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

Episode #245 : Season 8 : The Hawaiian Adventures Hello Friends, Taking my final departure from the Island of Oahu I untie and point for the Molokai Channel. After a thankfully uneventful passage to Lono Harbor on the Island of Molokai I drop the hook and start to get the boat in order. As soon as I was settled the captain of a near by sloop that was also anchored in the bay made his way over and invited me to have fresh fish tacos made from a bonito they had caught a few hours earlier on their sail from Lanai. Ralf and Wiebke of SY Flora have been cruising full time since 2019 and have recently arrived in the Hawaiian Island via The Galapagos Islands: Check out there blog here!!! https://syflora.blog/🇬🇧-english/ They also have a great instagram account with amazing photos, follow them here: https://www.instagram.com/sy_flora_crew/ I had a lovely evening swapping sea stories with them and look forward to following along with their Alaskan adventures via their Instagram account. Things are at last starting to come all together. This week we get stuck in to the electrics in the Bow locker, the Windlass it is working and we manage to lift our rather large anchor. Another big achievement on River Fox! We finally get the mast up and looks amazing. We still can't believe that we made that beautiful mast! The rudder goes on but wasn't an easy job. Everything is so heavy and difficult to turn. But at least we have done it. We are nearly there. The launch gets put off again and now the boatyard can't put us in the water until the 4 th of July. At least we will be much more prepared by then. Follow our blog with our daily adventures on Facebook . We post our route everyday, showing you the ups and downs of sailing. An amazing adventure documented every single day. Stop there and leave your comment, we reply every single comment! https://www.facebook.com/sailingoceanfox/ Check the photos on Instagram , plus all the journey. A daily blog of our healthy lifestyle . We eat a Low Carb Mediterranean plant based diet and we just love it. Loads of fresh fish as we catch so much. https://www.facebook.com/healthyonboard/ Please like and share all of that to help us going on this adventure. We are really enjoying this life and sharing everything with you it's been wonderful . Thank you very much, you guys are amazing supporting us with your likes and comments, we really feel that we have a new family out there. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

Ah, the Parasailor. That beautiful headsail that allows you to sail comfortably and safely in light downwinds. It's an awesome sail. But for some, it can be intimidating. Last season, we flew our Istec Parasailor onboard our Leopard 45 Sailing Catamaran on a lovely afternoon making our way up the Exuma Land and Sea Park islands. As we approached our anchorage, we set about dousing the sail. We had 14 knots of true wind. Well, dousing it wasn't all wine and roses. We made several mistakes causing the dousing to be difficult, exhausting, and very stressful. In this episode, we met up with Martin Town from Parasailor USA to tell us what we did wrong, what we could have done better, and what we did right.

CHALLENGES at Sea SAILING to PANAMA | Harbors Unknown Ep. 70 We have been working on getting boat insurance for the past month and we finally secured a policy that fit our budget! Within two hours we fired the engines and were on our way to PANAMA!!! We were so excited to officially kick off our voyage sailing around the world! We had two weeks to get to Panama before hurricane season, so we needed to move. The conditions were certainly not the greatest with wind and current right on our nose, and a narrow sailing area between the shallows of the Bahama Bank and the shipping lane off the coast of Cuba, but we made the best of it. Just when we were about to round the bend of the eastern edge of Cuba, we faced a huge challenge and needed to decide whether to continue on or stop at the nearest port. Watch now to see what happened! If you enjoy this video give it a thumbs up, leave us a comment down below and be sure to subscribe to our channel! It really helps us out. A huge thank you to our Patrons, we are so grateful for your support! If you’d like real time updates and additional content consider joining the Harbors Unknown community on Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/harborsunknown If you're new here, Harbors Unknown is the story of two dreamers, Kristin and Fabio Potenti, and our French Bulldog dog Yoda. We sold our home at the beginning of the pandemic (May 27th, 2020) and moved aboard our Seawind 1600 catamaran, Wanderlust, in September, 2020. We're sailing her to Harbors Unknown, to explore the world’s vast cultures through food, a common thread amongst people everywhere. Connecting with people and places through the local cuisine, and showing how those dishes can be cooked on a boat with limited space and resources. We're sharing our adventures as a sailing couple living on a boat and how it’s possible to live an alternative lifestyle that provides freedom and fulfillment.
