In this video you get to do an inspection with The Mobile Boat Guys Professional Yacht and Boat Detailing. In addition, we will discuss our processes and strategies removing oxidation. In a lot of instances boat owners all the time will try to get us to give them a quote over the phone or a ball park figure of what the cost is going to be. We are transparent with our pricing structure located on our website www.mobileboatguys.com; however, it's almost next to impossible to give a customer a "accurate," quote without visually inspecting the boat and checking the condition of the gel-coat. Every boat is different and exposed to different conditions, some are stored out doors and some indoors. Even though the boat was stored indoors doesn't necessarily mean that boat is in greater condition than the boat store outside. So it's always best to go do an onsite visit. I can emphasize that enough. In this video we inspected a red severely oxidized Cobalt that is in desperate need of some love and later we take a look at our processes and show you the final product. We also discuss the process of wetsanding and how decide when wetsanding will be necessary. The importance of doing work. We discuss the quickest way to detail a severely oxidized boat. Just do it right the first time. Follow us: IG: https://www.instagram.com/p/CNwN4XwHb5z/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Facebook: https://fb.watch/dckpOHimIq/

Check out how to remove heavy oxidation from a black Searay boat using the correct polishing technique. In any kind of polishing your technique is very important in getting high quality results. 1. Start with 2'X 2' section 2. You want to a follow a "M" pattern going horizontally overlapping with half of the buffing pad of your last pass. 3. Cross cut vertically over the same section always allowing the product and the pad to bring you the result you are looking for so don't apply a lot pressure and don't rush. 4. Keep polishing with same pattern until oxidation is removed. 5. Wipe with a microfiber, if you are happy with the result move to the section. Note: There's no easy way. You might have to take several passes there is no magic compound or polishes you just wave at a boat to make it shine. It takes a lot skill and effort to produce high quality results. The Mobile Boat Guys specialize in the restoration of protection of gelcoat finishes. Gelcoat surfaces differ from clear coat (the paint found on cars), in that gelcoat is a lot more forgiving than clear coat because it is a thicker material. There are several ways to remove oxidation from gel-coat surfaces--wetsanding, compounding, polishing and a combination of all of the above. The key to keeping up with your boats appearance is having a proper maintenance schedule where you are waxing once or twice a season. However, how you store your boat when its not in use and the weather conditions your boat is exposed to will also determine how often you need to wax the gel-coat surfaces.
