I talk about this a lot but meeting new people and sharing this experience is my favorite part of living on a boat. We met a family from Russia at church and took them sailing for an afternoon. We also met a family from Washington that lives on a boat! We had to track them down and get to know them a little better. I love meeting as strangers and leaving as friends! Our kids have really gotten into geocaching and while it can be frustrating to go out of our way, we've found some really cool spots that we would have otherwise missed. We're starting to feel like we're getting the hang of sailing. The freedom that comes with knowing what we're doing is wonderful and we're really loving the challenge of learning something new.

Realities of OFF-GRID LIVING and SAILING in San Blas Islands | Harbors Unknown Ep. 78 The reality of off-grid living, especially as digital nomads, is we need internet and we need to eat, lol. So we had to head back to Linton Bay marina to use the internet and upload some videos. Fortunately on the way there we caught a fish and on the way back to the San Blas we were able to do some sailing. Once back in the San Blas, we anchor once again in the postcard perfect Holandes Cays, this time in one of the most popular anchorages, the Swimming Pool. The bay is completely surrounded either by islands or coral reef barriers, creating a surface smooth as glass, hence the name. Pockets of reefs dot the water’s interior, just waiting to be explored, but the real allure is the outer reef, where we’ve heard there are some larger fish. We catch some days with very little wind so we head out with our speargun that we’ve NEVER used to try and do some spearfishing. We realize that we’re part of the ever growing group of travelers putting pressure on these reefs, harvesting marine life for food either by fishing directly or buying fish and seafood from the local people. These are beautiful islands, raw and undeveloped, protected only by their remote location. Fortunately there is not enough land for resort development and we hope the impact of a few people foraging the waters is minimal. Fabio managed to snag a fish and seeing him with his catch made me even more amped to get my own. But let’s take a step back here. I have fired a spear gun once in my life and was incredibly lucky to catch a grouper. However the shot was totally set up for me, with the fish in a small hole. Now out here on my own, it’s a totally different story and I realize I need to manage expectations. Whenever I set out to learn something new I automatically assume I’ll be able to do it without any struggle but that’s rarely the case. I have to remember to be kind to myself, patient and understand that it takes time and practice. Today it’s not common to see people sharing their struggles but here I’m owning my vulnerability and sharing my learning process and misses with you. Thanks so much for joining us this week! This is Episode 54 of our adventure. Our sixth week sailing the west coast of France. We did so much this week that I've had to make two videos, this being part 1. In this video we head to Belle Île where we hire bikes and cycle 40km around the wrong half the island. We have no means of charging our batteries at the moment so without an electric hook up our time here was short. We had to extend it by an extra night as the sea was too rough we set out but had to turn around and come back. We eventually made it off the island and headed to Port du Crouesty to recharge, refuel and restock before heading into the Morbihan to pick up a mooring buoy. We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have the guts to cast off. Unsure what to do about the enclosure, I take some photos and review with others, as well as look up what it's all about on the Internet... spoiler - didn't find much, and I need to bolt this in place! After negotiations to view the boat, I am to given the keys in the Marina to have a look around. The first trip down to Marina Funtana where the yacht is currently moored

My second trip down to Marina Funtana, further survey with Viktor including underwater ship status and Seatrials

Final checks with the Surveyor, we put a small list of damages to negotiate with. Price or repair before purchase

Well following purchase I had to relocate from the Marina Funtana to the Marina Umag. 4~5 hours of motoring due to faint winds. Got to Umag and realised there was a pool of oil in the engine bay bilge. I suspected a leak out of the throttle spindel as I could see oil spillage around that area, asked the Marina to check .... look what the found. During the Survey we ran the engine at 80% for 20 minutes, not a drop so I am guessing the ring disintergrated during the move.

During the survey it was suggested I should replace the standing rigging as a safety measure (20y old oringinal holding the mast up). I have decided Oct 2022 to replace not only the standing rigging but also the running rigging. Will grease up the furling bearings and take time to fix the Fuel gauge which I believe has corrosion around the electric spades. If I can't fix it easily I will look for replacement
