This is Episode 55 of our adventure. Our sixth week sailing the west coast of France. We did so much this week that I've had to make two videos, this being part 2. In this video we get up before first light and made our way to Vannes, heavily relying on our tech and the lights around us. We then have a very narrow river to navigate with only a few cm of water under the keel. It was worth it as we arrive in the beautiful city of Vannes with street after street of medieval buildings. We share our time here with a running event taking place right outside our boat. Hugh rounds off the week trying to fix the leak in our water tank. We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have the guts to cast off. Introduced in 2002, the Bavaria 38 was a J&J Desing design and was an update to the highly successful Bavaria 37. The Bavaria 38 is a cruiser with a length of 11.91m and a beam of 3.87m. The movement on deck is comfortable and safe thanks to the large flat surfaces, the solid handles and the centring of the shrouds. The teak coating is appreciated and recently renovated in the cockpit, and the grey Sika Flex gives it a more modernised environment. Well now that Ian is behind us it is time to return Reverie to our home port, so we are moving her from Regatta Point Marina to Tropic Isles Marina. So have to do a little clean-up from all the hurricane prep so I can sleep tonight and tomorrow morning John and I are taking her home. We had some difficult past few weeks between getting things ready for hurricane Ian, getting through the storm, my mother-in-law was having surgery and there were complications so we had to fly to Puerto Rico as soon as the airport was open. I came back a couple of days ago but had to left Cusie behind. So it was difficult to get back on Reverie knowing that Cusie was still in PR dealing with all of that. They say "...the sea will grant man new hope". whether this was Columbus or Hollywood, it really does not matter. What matters is that it is true. When I got back on Reverie and we left the dock that short ride lifted my spirits and gave me hope that I would indeed achieve my dream of sailing Reverie to destinations close and far from home. You have to keep the faith and keep going.

I participated in "Running Out of Time - Climate Relay 2022" by carrying the baton across the world’s busiest shipping lane, the Dover Strait, from England to France, all done under sail. It was important for us to play a critical part in this relay, which is an epic fossil-fuel-free 7,767 km non-stop relay from Glasgow, Scotland, the host city of the UN's COP26 international meeting on Climate Change to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, host of COP27. The Climate Relay, being run between 30th September and 6th November 2022, 24/7 across 18 countries, is organised by the charity Carbon Copy, to raise awareness of climate issues and the power of community action to meet this enormous challenge. For us, our leg across the English Channel was also a challenge by itself. We left Lorient, France on a Friday afternoon, sailed upwind for 32 hours, picked up the baton under sail from a rower on the English side and dropped it off to a windsurfer on the French side. Then sailed back another 24 hours to Lorient. We were 3 onboard my Imoca Imagine, Pam Lee an Irish professional skipper now living in France, Natasha Gonzalez, a filmmaker from Costa Rica also transplanted to France and myself. Great day for a game of golf

After spending 3 weeks at our friend's dock in Middle River, Maryland, it was time to head south on the Chesapeake. We were thrilled when Tony and Nancy took us up on our offer to sail with us to Annapolis. Since they are power boaters, it was great to show them what sailing is like. We had amazing winds most of the way there until they died just before we approached the Bay Bridge. Determined to sail under the bridge, we may have cheated with a nudge from our engine to keep us on course. We did get to sail under the bridge at a screaming 2 knots! Once we got into Annapolis, we cruised the mooring field to see if any balls were open but there weren't any. We decided to anchor out for a night and dinghy our guests to shore. We took too long hunkering for the hurricane and fixing our loss of RPM problem. So Isabella headed back to port instead of continuing to Annapolis. We said goodbye to Petra and flew to the boat show. Ran into a lot of subscribers, did our time in the Sailing Channels Booth, and partied with friends. It was a great time, drank a few Painkillers, ate some great food, and saw some impressive boats. Obtained a few boat toys which we will be reviewing and hope to return next year.
