We actually put this together for the Annapolis boat show to have it playing at the booth and to enter the competition for 'best sailing channel'. Sadly we didn't win! When Sailing in la Maddalena sardinia, you enter a natural world of incredible beauty. Everywhere are islands rocky and rugged. In the lee of the islands are excellent coves and bays well protected and picturesque. The swimming and snorkelling are magnificent , as is scuba diving. Exploring them is the highlight of sailing Maddalena, of course, in calm weather. We had a strong northwest wind, so we docked at Gavetta marina, the main port. We docked at Gavetta marina, which is the main harbour, Stroll the narrow streets and browse through the shops, where you can buy handicrafts, jewellery, and other items made by local artisans. The next day we rented a car and drove around the Island. There are many fantastic anchorages at Maddalena Island. Cala protease is a favourite and provides good shelter from westerly winds. I adapted the outriggers from the "Lucky Pigeon" to fit the Snark. I wanted to learn more about the Trimaran behavior with a different center hull. Most likely, more sail area, a bigger rudder and stronger wind would make it better.

Years of proud ownership are evident in this spotless example of the Mainship 31 Pilot. The owner is very knowledgeable and works in the local marine industry. Built on a solid fibreglass hull with a prop pocket this is a great economical semi displacement cruiser. There is a full width swimgrid complete with a boarding ladder and transom door to access the cockpit. The hardtop enclosure with a drop curtain and diesel furnace provides comfort from the elements. Great visibility all around at the helm. Lots of upholstered seating on the bridge deck which features an Isotherm fridge, Princess butane single burner stove, corian counter with a sink and lots of storage. The helm is well laid out with two GPS/Fish finders with radar for those foggy days or night running. The bow thruster makes docking a breeze. The salon has a queen island berth, the settee converts to a bunk bed, the enclosed head/shower has the upgrade sealand masterflush electric toilet, there is a flatscreen TV on the bulkhead with a DVD player. A Fusion blue tooth sound system was added recently. No need for a genset, this one has an Efoy fuel cell charger. The hull looks great and gets a wax job every year. The 6 cyl 315hp diesel yanmar engine only has 650 hours and is very economical. Other upgrades include; Rocna Vulcan anchor on a windlass with 50ft of chain and 250ft of rode, 2021 4 golf cart and 2 new start AGM batteries, new pro mariner battery charger, pilot house and cabin LED lights with a dimmer, multiple USB outlets, Seagull MKIV water filtration system, Uniden VHF radio, Sea fire engine room suppression , Racor filter, oil change system, transom shower, dripless shaft seal, Blue sea system monitor, slope bacl, drop curtain and brow cockpit covers, high water alarm, trim tabs. The owner loves this boat and has many fond cruising memories, but is going to a different configuration. Call anytime for an appointment to view.

This is the opportunity to get your hands on a coveted Loki RIB10. If you order a new one it will cost around $450K and take at least 2 years. This military grade foam collar RIB is in great shape with only 600 hours on the F300 Yamahas. I have driven many RIBs over the years ( I used to work for Zodiac Hurricane) and I do no recall one which handles like this one. Very fast, dry riding, very solid into a head sea, no kiting due to the aerodynamic hull and cabin. The hard top and full enclosure provide great protection from the elements, great forward visibility and a pantograph wiper. There are four seats the forward two have bolster options. The spacious cabin has a Jabsco head. The electronics package is over the top, the Wetsounds Audiofile sound system cost 30K, don't tell his wife. The RaymarineES128 charplotter/fishfinder is hooked up to Quantum Radar for those foggy days. Pro mariner battery charger, Standard marine VHF. The Yamaha controls are fly by wire, there is a yamaha digital smart gauge. LED lights throughout the boat, also Nuteak flooring. Storage on some RIBs can be in short supply, not on this Loki, lots of dry storage throughout the boat. There are two draining fishholds. The self bailing deck has huge 2 inch scuppers. Up forward there is a great sitting area, a large anchor locker with a fortress anchor package and a samson post. The starter and house batteries have isolator switches. Each motor is hooked up to a remote racor fuel filter. This is a heavy build and capable of handling any local conditions any time of year, get there fast and in style. Make no mistake, this is not a recreational grade RIB definitely professional grade. Call anytime for an appointment to view.

On this weeks episode we set sail from one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen and navigate our sailboat through the inner atoll, sailing around coral heads so that we can make it to the pass and out of the lagoon before sunset. After navigating the pass on an outgoing tide and current, we put the sails back up and have a fantastic sail to our next atoll, called Makemo. Even though we did a lot of prior research and planning to get the timing correct, we have a pretty hair raising experience going in to this island atoll because we have to fight a very strong outgoing current. It all worked out and we found ourselves at another very beautiful anchorage just off the little islands village.
