If we had left when we had planned a couple weeks ago we'd be hunkered down in a late season hurricane in the islands. We much prefer hunkering down in a marina just inland of the North Carolina barrier islands. Join us as we wait out the storm and get our last few provisioning tasks done so we're ready to set off into the Atlantic ocean for a multi-day sailing passage to the Bahamas right after the storm. #boatlife #travelcouple #nomadiclife

In this video, Mark Jarvis, the Design and Production Director of Broadblue Catamarans, gives his Top 7 advantages of buying a multihull or catamarans, over other types of vessel. Remember to hit SUBSCRIBE and click the notification bell so you don't miss any of our videos Here's the top line summary: Stability at sea and at anchor. Multihulls will not roll or heel over. Safety at sea; a multihull has compartments with the boat (a legal requirement) that brings buoyancy. Access to shallow harbours and creeks; less draft than a monohull, for example, giving you access to different sailing and cruising areas. Interior space; a multihull by the very definition of the design, has a great deal more storage space and overall interior "living" space than that of a monohull, for example. Speed & Performance; multihulls generally are 20 to 40% faster than a monohull. Residual Value; prices of catamarans hold their value extremely well, even used catamarans. Ease of docking; with 2 engines, the manoeuvrability is greater than for a monohull. Find out more about our catamarans and our business on our other channels: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/broadbluecats/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/broadblue_catamarans/ Website: https://www.broadblue.com/ Read more about us here: Broadblue is a UK company based at Thornham Marina, Emsworth. So you've seen the show round of our Bowman 46 and now here's the first few days of work getting her engine started and seeing what sort of state the electrics and rigging are in. Honestly, if we won the lottery tomorrow I doubt we'd buy a different boat because this is arguably in the top 10 Bluewater boats ever built. Research has shown that this new type of drowning can happen very quickly, even though the person looks as if they might be OK. The US Coast Guard study on instinctive drowning response has been instrumental in reshaping our understanding of aquatic emergencies and refining rescue techniques. Conducted in the 1970s by Dr. Francesco A. Pia, the study challenged commonly held misconceptions about drowning and highlighted the need for greater awareness and training among rescuers. One of the key findings of the study was that drowning victims often exhibit behaviors that are markedly different from those depicted in popular media. Contrary to the dramatic splashing, waving, and shouting typically associated with drowning, victims in the throes of drowning often appear deceptively calm and may be unable to call for help due to their focus on gasping for air. This phenomenon, known as the instinctive drowning response, is a primal survival mechanism characterized by instinctual efforts to keep the airway above water. Understanding the instinctive drowning response is crucial for rescuers, as it allows them to recognize signs of distress even when victims are unable to signal for help. By identifying subtle cues such as head bobbing, vertical positioning in the water, and an inability to make purposeful movements, rescuers can intervene quickly and effectively to prevent drowning fatalities. Moreover, the Coast Guard study underscored the importance of education and training in water safety and rescue techniques. By disseminating accurate information about the instinctive drowning response and teaching individuals how to recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies, the study has helped save countless lives and reduce the incidence of drowning accidents. In response to the findings of the study, the US Coast Guard and other organizations have developed comprehensive training programs for lifeguards, first responders, and the general public. These programs emphasize the importance of vigilance, situational awareness, and prompt action in water-related emergencies, equipping participants with the skills and knowledge needed to prevent tragedies and save lives. Overall, the US Coast Guard study on instinctive drowning response has had a profound impact on water safety practices and rescue protocols, highlighting the importance of understanding the true nature of drowning and empowering individuals to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Barely There Bikinis asked QP to model their bikinis on a beautiful beach in the Bahamas. QP loves to model, so of course she jumped at the chance! Barely There Bikinis are Micro Bikinis and are very sexy! QP was very happy to model them. We chose White Cay for the setting because of its bright white disappearing beach. We were surprised to find Iguanas on the beach looking for a handout, and underwater life is also pretty amazing at Whita Cay. I'm sure we will be back to visit here again.
We make our return from Brightlingsea. Have a 4 hour beat through some short steep chop, get some sailing in, buy a spinnaker and cook up a fish and rice dish with what we had in the kitchen! Enjoy! Love Carl and Charlie xx

We take a look back over our adventures during 2022 and the pain of losing our dog Nelson and also Nat's mum in November 2022. After taking a wee sabbatical for November and December to grieve and deal with funerals etc we are now back on board the boat in Leros marina Greece and will continue with "our life less ordinary". We hope you'll join us in saying good bye to the ones we all lost in 2022 and welcome in 2023 with the hope that it will see happiness and adventure along the way for all of us. As the year draws to a close, we would like to wish you all a bright New Year and a fond farewell to 2022. Here's to the things that are yet to come, beautiful memories and fair winds in 2023🥂🍾 We have been very busy over the last few months, preparing and working on Ragdoll to allow us to fully move aboard this coming spring. Our plan is to sail to the Mediterranean & spend a year or two there, before assessing our next steps. Life aboard whilst working, with a kid and three dogs will certainly be an interesting challenge, but as Chris says… we’re deliriously excited for what’s about to come! If you like our videos, don’t forget to like and subscribe AND hit that little bell to get notified of newly uploaded videos. Cheers & till next time! Who are we? We are a family of three with three dogs, sailing the coasts of Scotland, exploring one island at a time – for now! There is no set route or plan. We will go where the wind and life take us. We have two golden retrievers and a bernese mountain dog – Hachi, Luna and Meems who sail with us. We sail on a 1995 Gib’Sea 472 who we are in the process of refitting, making our own and preparing for a big adventure. Connect with us! Lagoon hosted an exclusive event in Fort Lauderdale at the end of October. The event displayed our SIXTY7 and SEVENTY8 motor yachts at a private residence in downtown Fort Lauderdale. As a private event, we were able to amplify how important it is to us for you to get to know our brand and the people behind it. The intimacy of this event was unlike any other we have had and we hope you enjoyed this aspect of it as much as we did! _______________________________________________________ CATAMARAN INNOVATORS SINCE 1984 Lagoon was formed in pursuit of connection – with ourselves, our loved ones and the world around us. By bringing the human experience to the 7 seas, we’ve been able to unleash an unbridled sense of curiosity and instinctual need for quality since 1984. Something we wouldn’t have accomplished without a collective passion for spectacular destinations and even better journeys getting there. As confirmed sailors, we all know that our boats have to be fast, comfortable and safe: seaworthy. We build them based on our love of the sea and the constant aim of good-quality work. We design them as if we were the future owners. As shipbuilders and sailors, it is part of our logic. Black Magic Air blocks are a top favorite of big boat performance racers and cruisers. These lightweight, free-running, powerful performers are used for sail controls that see lots of action: mainsheet, runner, halyard, and spinnaker systems. So they also need to be easy to clean and service. Watch the video to learn how. They have few parts and no loose balls or rollers to misplace. Unlike blocks that are riveted, fasteners allow quick disassembly with a single hex wrench.
