Welcome back aboard Moor R & R for this week's Adventure! Episode 43 We’ve watched the wind, waited for the seas to settle, and dreamed about finally getting Moor R & R back out onto the Reef. And today… we finally get our chance. It was worth the wait. With the weather finally on our side, we leave Cairns behind and make our way out to Vlasoff Cay… A stunning sand cay rising from crystal-clear water, surrounded by beautiful coral and reef stretching out as far as the eye can see. But the real highlight of our reef adventure was something I never expected… I jumped into that crystal-clear water and found myself swimming alongside a group of batfish. It was one of those moments you simply can't plan for — and one we'll never forget. So come aboard Moor R & R for this week’s adventure, and experience the magic of the reef with us. We happily wave goodbye to the boat yard and make our way to the slip to get Smile back in the water and floating. A few checks and we are motoring away, and it feels good! We drop anchor near two friends, but our first priority is to get provisions and then 'unpause' Smile's transit log. The familiarality of Preveza makes the start to this season with provisioning and errands much easier than previous times. While we are still fine-tuning living onboard again, it definitely feels good to be back! Lilah had first honours of dropping the anchor.

We’ve crossed the Bay of Biscay and made it to Spain 🇪🇸⛵️… but now there’s something else on our minds — ORCAS! 👀🐋 As we continue our family sailing adventure aboard Sea-Kat, our Lagoon 410 catamaran, we start making our way down the Spanish coast — an area where sailors have reported encounters and interactions with orcas. So when we spot something in the water… you can imagine what goes through our heads! 😳 Did we actually see orcas? You’ll have to watch to find out! 👀 Join us for another episode of life aboard Sea-Kat as we explore Spain by sailing boat, navigate the realities of living aboard with two young children and continue our journey towards the Mediterranean. We’re Lily & Joe, sailing Sea-Kat with our two little girls, Prim & Pearl. We left the UK to live aboard our Lagoon 410 catamaran and sail our way through Europe as a family. This was a very special voyage: my solo sail aboard Mirage from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia - about 240 nautical miles across the Gulf of Maine. I left Cape Cod at 10 a.m. and raised the Code 0 in light wind. But the conditions changed quickly. As the wind built, Mirage accelerated toward Canada at nearly 9 knots! Later, with the wind continuing to strengthen, I took down the Code 0 and continued under the Genoa. By morning, everything had disappeared into thick fog. The wind shifted to approximately 75 degrees apparent, while Nova Scotia’s powerful tidal currents created waves and challenging sailing conditions. Around here, the tides influence everything—including the fog. Perhaps it becomes a little calmer at slack tide, but with wind against the current, the sea quickly comes alive. After approximately 240 nautical miles, I reached Yarmouth at around 7 p.m. A fast passage and a very satisfying result! The second half of the video takes us ashore to explore Nova Scotia. My local guide, Anthony, kindly spent the entire day showing me some of the region’s most fascinating places: Cape Forchu Lighthouse, beautiful beaches with incredible tides, Balancing Rock, Boar’s Head Lighthouse, the local market, and Digby - the scallop capital. After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, we continued to Annapolis Royal and historic Port-Royal, the site of one of the earliest French settlements in North America. Fast solo sailing, whales, heavy fog, enormous tides, lighthouses, wonderful local food, and the history of Nova Scotia—this voyage had everything. Thank you for sailing with me aboard Mirage! 🌊⛵ #Segeln #TopazMagno #KielerFörde #Schilksee #Ostsee #7Beaufort #Gleitjolle #Jollensegeln #Kenterung #Spinout #Sailing #SailingAdventure

PG caught up with Pete Curulli, of 'Perth is OK!', to talk through SMARTDOCK, a newly released German remote control system designed to give boat owners greater freedom and confidence when manoeuvring. Connected directly to your vessel’s throttles or joystick, SMARTDOCK allows you to control your boat from your phone via Bluetooth, with a range of up to 50 metres. That means you can move around the boat while docking, departing or tying up, rather than being fixed at the helm when conditions get difficult. Available for both inboard and outboard applications, it is all about making boating simpler, safer and a little less stressful for everyone onboard. Come and see PG and the Gineico Marine team at stand 12 at the Perth Boat Show and take a closer look at SMARTDOCK for yourself. https://zurl.co/hOyPK #GineicoMarine #PerthBoatShow #SmartDock #MarineTechnology #BoatTechnology #BoatDocking #MarineEquipment #BoatingAustralia #AustralianMarineIndustry #BoatingWA

This week aboard Stella Overboard, boat life throws a few more problems our way. From discovering the main pin holding our boom to the mast had started working its way out, to watermaker issues, outboard problems, lazy jack repairs, and the never-ending reality of fixing things in remote places… this episode is a pretty accurate look at what cruising life is really like. Luckily, we’ve learned that sailing is mostly about figuring things out with what you have, carrying as many spares as possible, doing a little creative jimmy-rigging, searching the internet, and accepting help from the amazing people you meet along the way. But after everything that breaks on the boat, somehow the biggest disappointment of the week comes when we think we’ve finally hooked a fish… only to pull up something VERY different 😂 We’re also continuing our journey north through Indonesia, getting closer and closer to Malaysia while trying to squeeze in a few more waves before we leave. And make sure you come back next week because I finally catch the fish I’ve been dreaming about 👀🐟 Thanks so much for watching and following along with our sailing adventure. In this bumper episode, we get an early-morning wake-up call from the Suez Canal Authority as our transit time is suddenly brought forward to 5am. We begin our journey through the canal, stopping at Ismailia Marina to refuel before continuing to our marina berth. Unfortunately, we soon discover that No Regrets has picked up some heavy oil during the passage, leaving ugly stains running down her sides. As we aren't allowed to clean the hulls ourselves, divers have to be brought in to get her looking respectable again. With the boat secure, we head into Cairo with a police escort to explore some of Egypt's incredible history. We visit the Pyramids of Giza, Salah El Din Citadel, St Marcus Church and the Zabbaleen — the "Garbage People of Cairo" — before exploring some of the ancient pyramids at Saqqara, including the Step Pyramid of Djoser, Pyramid of Unas, and the Red and Bent Pyramids. Finally, after an incredible journey through Egypt, we check out and return to the Suez Canal to complete our transit, emerging into the Mediterranean Sea. A huge episode packed with ancient history, modern Cairo, unexpected challenges and the final leg of our journey through the Suez Canal. 00:37 5am Wakeup 02:27 Ismailia Marina 05:44 Cairo 08:24 Pyramids of Giza 09:35 Grand Egyptian Museum 11:01 Salah El Din Citadel 12:43 Garbage City 13:18 Step Pyramid of Djoser 16:56 Pyramid of Unas 18:19 Red & Bent Pyramids 22:03 Suez Canal to the Med WHO ARE WE? Hey there! We’re Chris and Jo, an ordinary Aussie couple living our extraordinary dream aboard our Seawind 1260 since January 2019 and now we continue from 2024 aboard our new 1370! Our adventure began with an unforgettable journey down the east coast of Australia, followed by a sail to the stunning New Caledonia. In 2020, we continued our exploration further north, and by 2021 and 2022, we circumnavigated Australia, discovering breathtaking locations along the way. Having previously owned fishing and water-skiing boats, our passion for sailing deepened after crewing in South Australia, leading us to make the leap into full-time living at sea. We hope to inspire you, just as we were inspired by other YouTube channels, to chase your dreams and explore the wonders of this beautiful world. We’ve been destructing our old boat that’s in the yard. But finally, we can begin to put her back together. Use code SLIM to get 15% off your Simify eSIM here: https://simify.com/SLIM?c=1 Boaters World are offering you 10% off all products on their site www.boatersworld.com.au Check em out and use our code! SAILINGNAKAMA10 Over the years, we’ve been sailing a very thorough lap of Australia, and since we set off, we’ve always had below waterline leaks. We put off the job as not only was the leak fairly minor, but we may have lacked the confidence, money and time to do this upgrade. But now we’re in Hobart, Tasmania & we’re finally able to tackle it. We’ve been destructing & deconstructing our old boat that’s high & dry in the boat yard in the hopes all this destructive deconstruction will make her better. And finally, we’re at the point, of putting her back together. Enjoying the episodes? Becoming a Patron enables us to ensure the continuity of Slim & Soph - Sailing Nakama. What if you had to cross an ocean with NO instruments? No GPS. No compass. No chartplotter. No electronics. Just the stars, waves, birds, floating debris, the sun, the wind — and your knowledge of the ocean. In this episode of Barefoot Doctors Sailing, we dive into the extraordinary traditional navigation skills of the Polynesian voyagers who crossed enormous stretches of the Pacific Ocean long before modern navigation instruments existed. From Tahiti to Moorea, we set out to reconnect with some of the traditional skills, knowledge and culture that allowed Polynesian sailors to navigate thousands of miles of open ocean. 🌴 How did Polynesian navigators find their way across the Pacific?⭐ How the stars were used for navigation🌊 Reading ocean swells and wave patterns🐦 Using seabirds to locate land🥥 Understanding floating debris and other signs of nearby islands☀️ Reading the sun, wind and weather🧭 Navigating without GPS, compass or modern instruments. But this journey wasn’t just about navigation. We also crossed from Tahiti to Moorea to take part in the Tahiti–Moorea Rendezvous, an incredible gathering where traditional Polynesian skills and knowledge are shared with visiting sailors from around the world. There were outrigger canoe races, traditional games, enormous stone-lifting challenges, banana competitions, tug-of-war, coconut shredding and plenty of laughter. And, of course, this is French Polynesia… so there was plenty of rain! ☔😂 But something happened that made the whole experience even more memorable. Despite the weather and less-than-perfect conditions, everyone turned up, joined in and had an enormous amount of fun. And perhaps that’s the real lesson of the day: The best days of your life are often not the days when everything goes perfectly. They’re the days when the weather turns bad, the plans change, things get uncomfortable — and you decide to turn up anyway and participate. Because if you wait for perfect conditions, you might miss some of the greatest experiences of your life. So kick off your shoes and come barefoot with us as we explore Polynesian navigation, Pacific sailing, traditional island culture and the incredible knowledge of the people who mastered the world’s largest ocean. 🌴 Subscribe to Barefoot Doctors Sailing for more adventures through French Polynesia and our continuing journey across the Pacific.

Today it's time to sail north east ,from Ilfracombe to Watchet. The weather was fair but the wind was poor, but at least not "on the nose"! Interesting bits on heaving to, to drop the mainsail, and getting the harbour approach at the right angle to avoid the shallows Please support this channel if you like this sort of stuff: 1.
