On Saturday 10th May, Les Sables d'Olonne lit up to celebrate the heroes of the Vendée Globe 2024-2025. An exceptional evening brought together tens of thousands of people, despite the driving rain. From 6.30pm, the legendary channel was alive with the sounds of a huge nautical parade, followed by an awards ceremony, then, just before 11pm, a monumental firework display by Jacques Couturier set the world's most beautiful bay ablaze.

We discovered a bunch of areas for improvement back in 2021 when I first featured the Saxdor 320 GTO on this channel. Since then Saxdor has been busy listening, reading your comments and contacting me and others in the industry for feedback on how they can keep improving their boats. So this video is all about exactly that. What is different from the early 2021 model to todays 2025 model. With Darcy back on the boat we had to get off the wall But we had to go back right after we left. Nothing ever seems to go right at the start of a refit but it all comes together in the end... right... tell me I'm right. ___________________________ Our prior boat - If you are interested in buying our previous boat, Supernova, a beautiful fully kitted out Prout Quasar 50, please send us an email at: sailingsupernova@gmail.com Supernova has tons of upgrades. 4kw solar, 2600 AH of lifpo4 lithium batteries. Full electric galley, watermaker, 2 years new electronics including auto pilot, radar and 16 inch chartplotter. Custom dinghy lift where you can leave the engine on (comes with 10.5 rib with almost new 20hp motor), new mainsail and jib, 14 foot by 7 foot custom hard top, dive compressor, two electric toilets with 2x 100 litre blackwater tank, put in 3 new fridge/freezer units, new prop shafts, 8 new underwater lights. We took the bottom down to gel-coat and put 6 layers of barrier coat on before new bottom paint (that was 3 years ago) and we replaced every through hull. We installed two new prop shafts and aquadrives. It has 4 staterooms, one oversized queen bed, one queen bed and to double beds with 4 heads but we are using 2 heads as just storage. You can live remote on this boat for months and months without needing to resupply (3 fridge/freezers, crazy amount of solar and giant lithium batteries etc). It still needs some cosmetic work inside and a couple of things here and there, but could cross oceans right now as is. We love this boat but we are aware we aren't going to get back anywhere near the money we put into her. We spent about a week out on anchor just outside of our marina in clearwater before making our 1st 3 day passage to Marathon, FL. We have been here just over a week and will be here for just a bit longer before we meet up with our buddy boat and start our voyage north where we hope to settle for about a month in Annapolis about Mid Sept. Sensible design around the cockpit which allows guests to enjoy the sail without having to participate in the sailing. While she is called the 46 LC for Long Cruise this is a refined, fast and elegant yacht that would hold her own in the cruising division of any regatta. If you want a serious cruising yacht with all the modern comforts plus decent fuel capacity giving you options then this yacht is it. But she is also a wonderful sail boat and a pleasure to sail both off the breeze and upwind. The Grand Soleil 46LC is a potential dream boat for many people in my opinion, and in this video Andrew and I discover the sailing abilities along with a deep dive into the interior layout and features of this Italian masterpiece. If you want a boat that does it all without overtaking the rest of your life with maintenance and storage dramas then this is the boat for you! This is a go anywhere - do anything - built like a tank and behaves in a predictable and safe manner in whatever the Southern Ocean can throw at her! Pocket Game boat is a fair description yet you could expand that to include classy day boat, adventure boat and ultimate trailer boat in my opinion. What i love about this hull is she is no-nonsense. She's got water ballast, shaft drive power and a bunch of sensible design details that just make sence for anyone who wants to go boating a lot and enjoy a platform that will keep delivering. She's a real step up for anyone coming from a half cabin fishing boat but I can actually see many guys who have owned larger vessels seeing great value in this. She is easily managed solo and has excellent range and offshore capability that she feels a lot bigger than she actually is. Even the aft cockpit feels so much more spacious than her length would suggest. I'm going to make a prediction now and say that the Tasman 80 will be a future cult classic in Australia and to any of my American mates reading this you should take a look too because the Aussie dollar makes this an even cheaper boat for you right now! In Episode 62 of the Sailing Goat Series, we continue our journey toward the Corinth Canal by sailing from Petalas to the island of Trizonia—the halfway point to the canal’s entrance. This leg of the passage offers everything from peaceful breezes to wild, gale-force winds. We begin the sail under ideal conditions: a steady 15-knot tailwind and light swell make for a calm and easy ride—until we pass beneath the iconic Rion-Antirion Bridge near Patras. That’s when everything changes. On the other side of the bridge, we get hit by violent catabatic winds, rapidly shifting angles and ramping up in strength. Within minutes, we’re facing 35 knots, with gusts pushing toward gale force (45+ knots).
