I had this old low resolution video of some home improvement projects I did when I was living in California. I got rid of the copyrighted music soundtrack and added some quick text to describe what was going on. I remodeled the townhome by painting, replacing the flooring (including the stairs, which were a high traffic area), painted, and baseboards. I remodeled the home by getting rid of the popcorn ceiling, reconfigured some walls/studs, drywall, texture, painting, slab repair, laid 18" travertine in the high traffic areas, replaced a sliding glass door with a door, replaced all the doors and jambs, all new kitchen cabinets, countertops, sinks, fixtures, lighting. Funny story, I put a fence in so I could store my toys in the backyard. A neighbor complained to the city. I was told I had to put a driveway in, I couldn't drive across my lawn. I didn't want to put a driveway in, I liked my grass, so I parked my toys on the street, since that was legal. Just had to move them for street sweeper day. I bet the neighbor regretted complaining to the city about my fence after that!

RIP John on S/V Silver Sea He was a great friend, a great sailor, and a great musician. We had many sails together on Volare, where he would bring his guitar and jam while everyone shared food and drink and sea stories. I got to jam with him once, we both played guitar, I had no idea what I was doing, he was teaching me, he's playing, I'm playing, every once in a while what I played sounded really good with what he was playing. It was an amazing experience, one of many with John that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! Volare boasts the largest cockpit of any boat in her class. The seating area is 12’ x 15’! The space is sheltered from the sun with a hard top, providing an out of eyesight spot for solar panels, and offers shade no matter which angle the sun is coming in at. Volare’s cockpit can seat 12 people for sundowners and appetizers. The main engine is a Cummins 4BT, one of the most reliable and easy to work on truck motors in the world. She cruises in the 6-7 knot range, the engine cruises at 1 gph. Her fastest crossing of the Sea of Cortez had her surfing at 9-12knots for much of the passage. Her davit system is easy and efficient to use, allowing the dinghy to be recovered or launched very quickly. 500W solar, 17 gph watermaker, 400ah LiFePO4 house battery, 200 gallons of fuel, 250 gallons of water gives the boat offshore endurance. Tips for giving good weather for boaters: 1) Don't refresh the weather report while you are reading it. 2) Give wind speed in knots, not miles per hour. 3) When the tide approaches -1ft in La Paz, that is extreme La Paz Waltz conditions 4) Do not tell people the weather is nice when it's the worst day of a 3 day norther. 5) Giving tide information that already happened is a waste, as is reading the future tide predictions. 6) The local forecast is only good for 2-3 days. 10 day forecasts are unreliable. 7) If you are a land station, don't complain about not being able to hear cruisers on boats.
