DODGING GALES as we sail down the coast of Norway to pass out of the Arctic circle. We search out sheltered natural harbours within the maze of coastal islands, and explore peaks with spectacular views of the archipelago whilst sailing Florence south. But why do we have to leave? We have sailed over 60,000 ocean miles around the world including a complete circumnavigation on our 37ft boat, Florence. After 9 years of experience sailing in the tropics, this series presents a new challenge and a chance to learn new skills as we sail north to the Arctic. Join us as we share the highs, lows, and challenges of travelling around the world by boat, sailing offshore across oceans and exploring remote locations. #sailing #boatlife #boatlifestyle #sailingboat #SevereGale #circumnavigation #sailingyachtflorence #yachtlifestyle #syflorence #sailingaroundtheworld #ArcticSailing #norwaytravel 00:00 – Introduction 00:56 – Sailing to Bolga Island 06:57 – Sailing to a Norwegian natural harbour ahead of a gale 15:07 – Sailing Helgeland 32:20 – Next Time Music in order as played: Be Epic - www.hooksounds.com – Licenced Growing Fond - www.hooksounds.com – Licenced Taking Off - www.hooksounds.com – Licenced Clear Conscience - www.hooksounds.com – Licenced Morning Fog - www.hooksounds.com – Licenced Dominican Romance - www.hooksounds.com – Licenced Epic Film Trailer - www.hooksounds.com – Licenced Whisky Willows - www.hooksounds.com – Licenced Unbroken - www.hooksounds.com – Licenced

I flew to Mexico to visit my sailboat Karl — and to make a decision about his future. This episode dives into my world around solo sailing / solo boat life. The quiet problem-solving. The unexpected encounters. The freedom of figuring things out on my own. And the emotional weight of deciding whether it’s time to let go. While troubleshooting a stubborn starter motor, flushing the cooling system, and tackling small boat projects under time pressure, I was reminded why solo sailing has shaped me so deeply. But the biggest question wasn’t mechanical. It was personal. Is it time to sell Karl? This week forced me to reflect on what this boat truly represents in my life — and whether the growth I found here lives in him… or in me. In this episode: – DIY starter motor troubleshooting – Marine diesel engine problem solving – Boat maintenance & cooling system flush – The beauty (and reality) of solo boat life – And one hard decision about Karl If you’ve ever struggled with letting go of something that once changed your life, this one might resonate. Facing the challenges of solo sailing as a female sailor, I navigated the highs and lows of single-handed sailing while tackling DIY boat repair projects, from engine fixes to full boat refits on a budget. My life aboard was a mix of adventure and reflection, shaping an independent woman’s story of resilience, personal growth, and embracing the sailing lifestyle. Along the way, I became an ocean conservation activist with In Mocean, stumbled across my dog Boga, and discovered the joys and challenges of sailing with a dog. Now, I’m exploring a new chapter, having jumped aboard my partner’s Hallberg Rassy Rasmus with Boga and his Australian Kelpie, Jango. Together, we face the unique dynamics and challenges of sailing as a couple, balancing off-grid life, sustainable sailing, and the demands of long-term cruising. If you’re interested in remote sailing adventures, authentic sailing stories, and the realities of living on a sailboat, this channel offers a glimpse into the world of DIY projects, the sailing lifestyle, and life’s transformative moments on the water. Step aboard Isabella II, a SY62 3-Deck Open in metallic silver with a black T-Top: a striking combination that enhances its contemporary look. With sleek lines and upscale finishing details, she’s an authentic expression of Made in Italy craftsmanship and quality. On the open flybridge, plenty of space for slow mornings and golden afternoons in good company, with sea views on all sides. On the main deck, light fills a generous salon where indoors and outdoors flow naturally, from the aft terrace to the foredeck lounge facing the blue. Below deck, privacy reigns. Each cabin is a quiet retreat, intimate and comfortable, with its own en-suite.

► Discover the world premiere of the Aquila 50 Sail with Gwen Dorning, CEO of Multihulls World, and Nick Harvey, Chief Revenue Officer d'Aquila Boats. ► The 50 Sail is unmistakably an Aquila. The brand’s signature bar, seamlessly linking the aft cockpit to the saloon, stands out as a defining feature. Beyond its soft, rounded lines and elongated hull windows, the model also borrows an innovative concept from Aquila’s powercat range: direct access to the flybridge from the foredeck. Elegantly integrated steps, complemented by a refined handrail, create a fluid and natural connection between these two living areas. ► Several elements reveal the brand’s powerboat heritage: a dedicated tender crane system, an impressively spacious owner’s suite, generously appointed heads, and private access to each cabin. The interior styling enhances the sense of luxury, with carefully selected materials such as sophisticated curtains, leather detailing, and rug in the saloon. Notably, traditional side walkways have been replaced by predominantly open living spaces, reinforcing the boat’s contemporary feel. ► Yet the true revelation lies in the Aquila 50 Sail’s performance under sail. The builder has equipped the boat with a genuine interior chart table - standard across the sailing range - and an outstanding flybridge helm station. The centrally positioned wheel, flanked by winches with control lines led to either side, offers excellent ergonomics and exceptional visibility, ensuring confident and enjoyable sailing. ► Technical specifications: Builder: Aquila Boats Length: 49’1” (14.97 m) Beam: 25’9” (7.86 m) Draft: 3’4” (1.7 m) Air draft: 82’6” (25.15 m) Light displacement: 50,600 lbs (24 t) Mainsail: 968/1,037 sq ft (90/96.4 m²) Motors: 2 x 50 kW or 2 x 50/60/75 HP Fuel: 222 US gal (865 l) Water: 232 US gal (880 l) CE Certification: A12/B12/C20/D30 Base price: US$ 1,391,000 ex-tax Boat Show special price: US$ 1,900,000 ex-tax ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! We just experienced one of the wildest events we’ve ever seen… Groove Cruise 2026 — a full-blown music festival… on one of the largest cruise ships in the world. For 4 nights we sailed from Miami to Nassau and back aboard the incredible Royal Caribbean International’s flagship, the Wonder of the Seas — with over 7,000 guests and dozens of themed parties, stages, and clubs spread across the ship. Massive DJs. Non-stop music. Visual overload. And an atmosphere unlike anything we’ve ever experienced at sea. This wasn’t just a cruise… it was a floating city of music. In this video we show you: • What Groove Cruise is really like • What it’s like partying on one of the largest cruise ships ever built • The insane deck parties • The vibe in Nassau • And whether we’d do it again If you’ve ever wondered what happens when a mega cruise ship turns into a 24/7 music festival… this is it. ► This week, we’re taking you to the British Virgin Islands for seven days of family sailing aboard a Moorings 5000 (Leopard 50). ► On the itinerary: Tortola, Cooper Island, Saba Rock, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada… Exploring these islands and anchorages means short sails of one to three hours per day, except for a beautiful longer crossing to Anegada, a flat coral island set slightly apart from the rest of the archipelago. As for the crew, while Charlotte is already an experienced young sailor, it’s a first for Mahé and Marceau! Also on board: Aude, Joffrey, Laurie, Quentin, Pierre-Yves… and me, Maria. A true nine-person adventure, filled with time under sail, laughter at anchor, and the logistics of life as a floating tribe. ► We’ll also be sharing our sailing experience aboard the Moorings 5000: seaworthiness, cabin comfort, the layout of the convivial galley, how the outdoor spaces work for children… We’ll tell you whether this catamaran is truly well designed for family cruising. ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests!

A quick technical breakdown of jib sheet lead angle and the function of the clue board. The hole you select on the clue board determines the vertical angle of the jib sheet. This angle controls the draft and twist of the sail by changing where the sheet's force is applied relative to the sail's center of effort. In short: The line from the block should lead roughly to the jib's center of effort for balanced trim on a given point of sail. Selecting the wrong hole will incorrectly flatten the foot or over-tighten the leech, hurting performance. Winter in Newfoundland keeps us busy. This week aboard Arabella, the harbor ice tightens around the boat and we’re forced to break up 4-inch ice to relieve pressure on the lines. After adjusting the bubbler and freeing the stern, we trade ice spuds for skis and head into deep Canadian powder for Robin’s first “Canadian turns.” Back on board, Steve dives into a major sailmaking project—building new Sunbrella stack packs with mesh ventilation, improved drainage, and cleaner stitching than the originals that made it all the way to the Dry Tortugas and back. Then winter hits hard. A massive snowstorm collapses the shed back in Massachusetts, burying the tools used to build Arabella. Four flights later, Steve is digging through two feet of snow to salvage what he can. From frozen harbors and whiteout skiing to sewing sail covers and emergency storm damage—this is winter boat life in Newfoundland. #WinterSailing #LiveaboardLife #BoatLife #Newfoundland #Skiing #Sailmaking -------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella started as a wooden boat building project in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built.
