Greece offers a breathtaking three-dimensional underwater world, from its diverse coastlines to the vibrant ecosystems thriving beneath the waves. Delicate corals, shellfish, sea fans, and expansive Posidonia meadows call this underwater paradise home. We have a responsibility to protect these precious marine environments for future generations. This video focuses on mooring safely to minimise our impact. We often find ourselves mesmerized by the beauty above, but it's crucial to consider the underwater world when choosing an anchorage. Prioritise marked anchorages and available moorings. Avoid dropping anchor on seagrass or coral, as the damage can be irreversible. While not all seagrass meadows are mapped, careful observation can help identify these vital habitats. Join RYA Instructor Trystan as he demonstrates safe anchoring techniques that preserve Posidonia grass meadows. Here's what you can do: Enhance your underwater visibility by wearing polarised sunglasses. Anchor in sandy or muddy areas, avoiding seagrass meadows. Secure your boat to sturdy rocks, not trees or sand dunes, which protect the coastline. Return to the same anchoring spot whenever possible to minimize seabed disturbance. Prevent anchor drag by lifting and repositioning the anchor if necessary. Raise the anchor carefully by motoring towards it and cleaning it before leaving. If your anchor is stuck, attempt manual retrieval or mark the location for a diver. Avoid forceful maneuvers. Bartholome, along with her sister ship Anna, are both excellent training yachts and offer a great platform on which to learn to sail or progress your skills. At 13m (42ft) they offer a great compromise, with easy handling and ample accommodation space. In terms of sailing, the classic hull shape offers sublime performance on all points of sail with a controllable rig, well set up for a wide range of wind speeds. On the power side the Harmony 42 is a perfect introduction to charter yachts and will set you on a path to stress-free manoeuvers.

When it comes to Greek island-hopping the only way to travel is by yacht. But what if you haven't sailed a yacht before? Or never sailed at all for that matter? Too many people never discover the pleasure of Greek island cruising because they feel they simply don't know the ropes - first learning point, ropes on a yacht are called 'sheets' (yes, we know it's weird!). The word AHOY is the most common salutation from one sailor or one yacht to the next. But we've decided to give it another meaning - Apprentice Hands-On Yachting. And our AHOY Adventures are specially designed for 'newbies' to island-hopping yachting, who want to get hands-on under the watchful eye of a professional skipper. https://seafarersailing.co.uk/cabin-charter/ahoyadventures/

Enjoy this video of our winter maintenance programme of the fleets in the Saronic Gulf, Kefalonia and the Cyclades. This is just a snapshot and the team are hard at work the moment getting ready for the first flotilla on the 15th April. In more detail our maintenance programme is comprehensive from careful servicing of engines, transmissions, and outboards along with items like the steering systems, winches and electric windlass, to servicing the toilets and plumbing systems. We also check that all the electronics and instruments are working correctly. All the sails are carefully evaluated by our specialist partners at Quantum Sails and either replaced or serviced. The rigging is also checked by a specialist. It's comprehensive from treating and protecting the keels, right the way to checking the lights, sensors and aerial on the masthead.
