The Clipper Round the World Race is what many regard as true ocean racing. Exposed to the elements on deck in traditionally shaped displacement yachts. Ten identical 70 foot yachts are taking part with 20 professionals – two on each yacht – while the rest of the crew are amateurs who have chosen to take part, sometimes to complete a single leg, while others are completing the full circumnavigation. It’s a true test of endurance; 40,000 nautical miles enduring anything and everything Mother Nature can throw at you. Founded by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first solo non-stop circumnavigator, the Clipper Race began in 1996. Since then, over 6,000 crew from 60+ nations have participated in this global challenge. Becoming an ocean racer demands rigorous training. Every crew member, regardless of experience, completes four levels of Clipper Race training to tackle the world's most challenging conditions. We take a look at the race so far after Stage 6, hear from Oli Irvine, skipper of GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital), the overall leader of the race, and also Dylan Kotze, skipper of Warrant who won Stage 6 into Subic Bay, The Philippines. We then talk to Max Rivers, Deputy Race Director, about the race so far, the logistical challenges, and the excitement building for the future of the Clipper Race with the new RX 72-foot fleet of yachts being build for the next edition. You can track the fleet via https://clipperroundtheworld.geovoile.com/2025/tracker/

Too often, yacht designs sacrifice hull integrity and safety just to gain a few extra centimetres below deck. Not here. This is the Itama  54 – where performance and design go hand in hand. At 16.44  metres long and 4.73  metres in the beam, she vaunts a sleek, modern profile that remains unmistakably true to the Itama DNA. The signature windscreen extending all the way aft defines her style while sheltering guests, especially when under way. The spacious cockpit accommodates up to 14 people, while the refined layout below deck features two cabins, two bathrooms and a fully equipped galley and dinette. Powered by twin MAN i6 engines – 730  hp as standard with the option of 850  hp – the Itama  54 reaches top speeds of a thrilling 37  knots. Pure open-yacht spirit.

This is part 4 of a step-by-step build of a B&B Yacht Designs Spindrift 10 nesting dinghy, following the guidance from the build instructions. This video focuses on preparing the outside and inside for priming, attaching the keel protector, installing a bow cleat, daggerboard hole, skewers for connecting the tow halves, priming and masking to get ready for gel coating. Notably, I did not off-set the daggerboard intentionally, I decided to just lose some of the keep protector in favor of symmetry. I purchased the pre-cut "kit" to save some time, but the same results can be accomplished by purchasing the build instructions and cutting your own marine-grade plywood. This video is for those who are looking to build their own dinghy, and who wish to learn more about the process. This is the second project Brent and I worked on together, the previous being a 7' pram for Brent. I hope you enjoy, and I hope you take away some successes we had, as well as learning from some of the failures we encountered.

First-time spearfishing while living on a sailboat in Greece — freediving in the Aegean Sea near Naxos and Rineia to catch wild fish for food using a speargun, including white trevally and triggerfish, then cleaning, filleting, and cooking fresh seafood at anchor as part of an off-grid sailing lifestyle focused on self-reliance, survival skills, sustainable fishing, and provisioning from the ocean; this Mediterranean spearfishing adventure shows beginner underwater hunting techniques, fish behavior, ethical harvesting, boat life, liveaboard sailing, remote anchorage living, freedive hunting, catch-and-cook, primitive food gathering, and real nomadic travel without resorts or tourism — just raw sailing, ocean survival, and learning to pull food directly from the sea. After buying a 57ft abandoned Kelsall catamaran at auction, we committed to a full DIY catamaran rebuild…learning as we go and racing a VERY thin deadline. Now we have less than five days left in the boatyard before this sailing catamaran goes back in the water. Rudders to fit. Antifoul to roll. Steering system to finalise. The final stretch of this abandoned boat restoration is here! We’ve got a working bee of new friends on the job, some good tunes to get us through and a sealift date we have to honour. 💰 Prezzo onesto o prezzo basso? When boats commit to race in the St. Francis Yacht Club's Rolex Big Boat Series in September, they know its a four race commitment in the big winds of San Francisco Bay. For these classic boats it means everyone on board will be feeling the effects of racing in those conditions. The positive side is being part of a team that knows what an accomplishment it is just to finish the series.

► This week, we’re taking you to the British Virgin Islands for seven days of family sailing aboard a Moorings 5000 (Leopard 50). ► On the itinerary: Tortola, Cooper Island, Saba Rock, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada… Exploring these islands and anchorages means short sails of one to three hours per day, except for a beautiful longer crossing to Anegada, a flat coral island set slightly apart from the rest of the archipelago. As for the crew, while Charlotte is already an experienced young sailor, it’s a first for Mahé and Marceau! Also on board: Aude, Joffrey, Laurie, Quentin, Pierre-Yves… and me, Maria. A true nine-person adventure, filled with time under sail, laughter at anchor, and the logistics of life as a floating tribe. ► We’ll also be sharing our sailing experience aboard the Moorings 5000: seaworthiness, cabin comfort, the layout of the convivial galley, how the outdoor spaces work for children… We’ll tell you whether this catamaran is truly well designed for family cruising. ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! 24 hours before we were supposed to leave for Antigua… everything changed. What started as a concern turned into a hospital admission and suddenly we weren’t sure if this trip was happening at all. With one of us in a hospital room and the rest of us facing a decision, we had to choose:Cancel everything… or keep moving forward. This week’s episode takes us from uncertainty and concern to volcano views, cobblestone streets, and early mornings. Sometimes travel doesn’t go as planned.

► With nearly 20 knots of easterly breeze and a short, choppy sea, conditions were perfect to put Aquila’s very first sailing catamaran through its paces. At the helm, our journalist Brieuc Maisonneuve comfortably pushed the boat beyond 8 knots. ► The 50 Sail is unmistakably an Aquila. The brand’s signature bar, seamlessly linking the aft cockpit to the saloon, stands out as a defining feature. Beyond its soft, rounded lines and elongated hull windows, the model also borrows an innovative concept from Aquila’s powercat range: direct access to the flybridge from the foredeck. Elegantly integrated steps, complemented by a refined handrail, create a fluid and natural connection between these two living areas. Several elements reveal the brand’s powerboat heritage: a dedicated tender crane system, an impressively spacious owner’s suite, generously appointed heads, and private access to each cabin. The interior styling enhances the sense of luxury, with carefully selected materials such as sophisticated curtains, leather detailing, and rug in the saloon. Notably, traditional side walkways have been replaced by predominantly open living spaces, reinforcing the boat’s contemporary feel. Yet the true revelation lies in the Aquila 50 Sail’s performance under sail. The builder has equipped the boat with a genuine interior chart table - standard across the sailing range - and an outstanding flybridge helm station. The centrally positioned wheel, flanked by winches with control lines led to either side, offers excellent ergonomics and exceptional visibility, ensuring confident and enjoyable sailing. ► Technical specifications Builder: Aquila Boats Length: 49’1” (14.97 m) Beam: 25’9” (7.86 m) Draft: 3’4” (1.7 m) Air draft: 82’6” (25.15 m) Light displacement: 50,600 lbs (24 t) Mainsail: 968/1,037 sq ft (90/96.4 m²) Motors: 2 x 50 kW or 2 x 50/60/75 HP Fuel: 222 US gal (865 l) Water: 232 US gal (880 l) CE Certification: A12/B12/C20/D30 Base price: US$ 1,391,000 ex-tax Boat Show special price: US$ 1,900,000 ex-tax ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! Step aboard MANA, a 2024 Excess 14 that’s been set up the right way for owners who actually want to sail and cruise off grid. The Excess platform (VPLP design) is known for delivering more helm feel and sailing efficiency than most production cats in this size range, and this boat leans into that with the Tall Rig “Pulse Line” package, a clean deck layout, and serious short handed capability. Where MANA really separates herself is the energy and autonomy package. A 990Ah Victron lithium bank, Victron inverter and management, and over 2000W of solar make this a true no generator cruising setup by design. Add Starlink Gen 2, a 50 LPH watermaker, washer dryer, and full boat air conditioning (3 units, 5 zones), and you’ve got a late model performance cruising cat that’s properly equipped to live aboard and roam. She’s currently in Sint Maarten, which is a perfect launch point for immediate Caribbean cruising, or a proven staging base if you’re thinking bigger passages. I looked high and low but couldn't find a swan neck that would fit any dinghy, let alone my 18 foot Sailfish 18. they were all too big and too expensive aswell. So we turn to the trusty 3D printer to get one made, but of course this isn't going to quite work this time due to the inherent design being a bit weak.
