At the same time, the use of carbon bulkheads in series has helped keep the weight estimate at 10.5 t. We discover brighter, clearer layouts (many openings have been added and/or enlarged) and far more careful finishing - overall, it is undeniably more welcoming. The sail plan has remained faithful to that of the 50, which translates into unchanged speed potential. With 15 knots of wind during our downwind run off Groix, the 52.2 #1 sold to a couple of Americans managed an average of 8.5 knots upwind (55° from the actual wind). We thought we only need a bottom clean in the water. Turns out the bottom was in dire need of some barnacle removal and we were about to lose the wing engine propellor. No clickbait here, no fancy music or exaggerated drama. This video is a "real" life example of how plans change while boating and living aboard full time.

Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles Andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. Seitdem lag Squib in der Wiener Kuchelau, und der Refit hatte begonnen. Am 17 August 2025 ist es wieder so weit. Obwohl Squib noch nicht ganz fertig ist, werfen wir die Leinen los und starten unsere erste Etappe donauabwärts. Dreieinhalb Wochen später erreichen wir das Donaudelta, der Mast wird gestellt, ein passendes Wetterfenster abgewartet, in zwei Sclägen überqueren wir das Schwarze Meer bis zum Bosporus. Ohne Einzuklarieren mit gehisster Q Flagge durchqueren wir die Türkei und erreichen 5 Tage später die Ägäis. Über Limnos und die nördlichen Sporaden segeln wir bis in den Großraum Athen, von wo aus Sabina nach Hause fliegt, weil ihr Urlaub zu Ende ist. Day 39 of 75 Hard and today was rough. After struggling through last night’s 52-minute walk workout, I woke up this morning feeling completely drained with zero energy. But as always with 75 Hard… the show must go on. Today’s workouts included: ✅ 30 minutes core/stomach training ✅ 15 minutes biking this morning ✅ 45 minute steady bike ride this evening Something strange also happened with my injured knee. After months of pain and swelling from the injury back in December, it suddenly cracked loudly while kneeling down… followed by a sharp pain, but then the swelling and discomfort actually reduced. Could something have shifted back into place? Despite feeling sick and exhausted all day, quitting was never an option. We’re past the halfway mark now and there’s no stopping. A day of tree felling in the remote wilderness of Southeast Alaska. We anchored the sailboat near a friend’s developing cabin site on Wrangell Island to help clear dangerous trees that were putting his cabin at risk with the prevailing winds. Chainsaws, stale gas, rusty chains, excavators, blown-down timber, and plenty of chaos. Pretty standard Alaska spring startup energy. 🌲⚓️ Living aboard our steel schooner means every stop turns into an adventure, and this one involved dropping trees right along the coastline while waking equipment back up after winter. La collaborazione con il CFP – Centro di Formazione Professionale di Rivoltella di Desenzano del Garda – permette ogni anno agli studenti di partecipare ad attività pratiche, incontri tecnici e stage formativi direttamente nelle aziende del settore nautico. Molti ragazzi, dopo il periodo di stage tecnico di due o tre settimane, hanno continuato il loro percorso professionale all’interno delle aziende nautiche, acquisendo esperienza, competenze tecniche e nuove professionalità. Perché oggi lavorare nella nautica è una grande opportunità Il mercato della nautica in Italia è in forte crescita e la richiesta di tecnici specializzati aumenta ogni anno. Le aziende cercano giovani preparati, capaci di affrontare le nuove tecnologie e l’evoluzione del settore nautico. Motori marini, elettronica di bordo, innovazione tecnologica e nuove competenze tecniche stanno trasformando rapidamente il mondo della nautica. Per questo motivo servono sempre più menti giovani, preparate e pronte a lavorare in un ambiente moderno e altamente specializzato.
