Nothing went to plan this week 3M 5200 screwed up our week We have a ton of things on order, and lots of big plans, but not a lot of time. We are starting to feel more at home, but we are still missing some key parts we need to fix the water but that will come soon we hope :-) If you are interested in buying our previous boat, Supernova, a beautiful fully kitted out Prout Quasar 50, please send us an email at: sailingsupernova@gmail.com Supernova has tons of upgrades. 4kw solar, 2600 AH of lifpo4 lithium batteries. Full electric galley, watermaker, 2 years new electronics including auto pilot, radar and 16 inch chartplotter. Custom dinghy lift where you can leave the engine on (comes with 10.5 rib with almost new 20hp motor), new mainsail and jib, 14 foot by 7 foot custom hard top, dive compressor, two electric toilets with 2x 100 litre blackwater tank, put in 3 new fridge/freezer units, new prop shafts, 8 new underwater lights. We took the bottom down to gel-coat and put 6 layers of barrier coat on before new bottom paint (that was 3 years ago) and we replaced every through hull. We installed two new prop shafts and aquadrives. It has 4 staterooms, one oversized queen bed, one queen bed and to double beds with 4 heads but we are using 2 heads as just storage. You can live remote on this boat for months and months without needing to resupply (3 fridge/freezers, crazy amount of solar and giant lithium batteries etc). It still needs some cosmetic work inside and a couple of things here and there, but could cross oceans right now as is. We love this boat but we are aware we aren't going to get back anywhere near the money we put into her. **Quando serve la patente nautica per condurre una barca in Italia? | Nautica in pillole** In questo video della serie *Nautica in pillole* spieghiamo in modo semplice **quando è obbligatoria la patente nautica in Italia**. Ci sono **tre condizioni principali** che determinano l’obbligo della patente nautica. Vediamole insieme, evitando i tecnicismi legati a termini come *natante*, *imbarcazione* o *nave da diporto*. ⛵ **1. La lunghezza dell’imbarcazione** La regola generale è: fino a **24 metri di lunghezza** si può condurre un’unità senza patente (rispettando gli altri requisiti). Attenzione: spesso si fa confusione, anche da parte di fonti autorevoli, credendo che il limite sia di 10 metri. In realtà, anche barche a vela da 11-12 metri con motori da 33 cavalli **non richiedono patente nautica** se si rispettano gli altri parametri. ⚙️ **2. La potenza del motore** La soglia è **40,8 cavalli** (30 kW). Che si tratti di barca a motore o a vela, **oltre i 40,8 cavalli la patente è obbligatoria**. Come sulla strada esistono diverse tipologie di patente (auto, moto, camion), anche in mare ci sono varie categorie di patente nautica. 🎿 **3. Attività sportive con traino** Per svolgere attività come **sci nautico o wakeboard**, serve la patente **anche se** si ha una barca piccola, con motore sotto i 40,8 cavalli, e si naviga entro 6 miglia dalla costa. Il **traino impone sempre l’obbligo di patente**. 🌊 **Distanza dalla costa: le famose 6 miglia** Navigare **entro 6 miglia dalla costa più vicina** è un altro criterio fondamentale. Ad esempio, potresti circumnavigare tutta l’Italia da Venezia a Genova **senza patente**, purché **resti sempre entro le 6 miglia dalla costa**. The YOT 36 is a good looking outboard powered catamaran which is a bit of a drivers boat. She's fun and easy to operate but will transform into an excellent platform for entertainment thanks to drop down wings that open up the space while keeping the overall beam sufficient to store in a regular marina berth. Underway she is an excellent ride with a very smooth experience for passengers making this a very novice boater friendly design in my opinion. The joystick parking is also very simple due to the extra beam between both motors which allows for some good leverage on the motors and basically an easier parking experience for you. I can see this boat appealing to the day boat masses and she'll serve you in that role perfectly. However if you want to travel for a long weekend away on a remote island you can do that too. I don't see any problem taking this boat offshore and staying aboard for multiple days out at your favourite hideaway. It starts off magical as we finally get to witness the famous Preveza Carnival, just a day after the city held a national protest for the 2023 train derailment tragedy. The city transformed, with over 100,000 people dancing, dressed in themed costumes, and partying in the streets—it was a night to remember. But boat life never stays quiet for long. Just one month after our previous haul-out in Brindisi, we find ourselves emergency hauling out again, this time at Cleopatra Marina after discovering that our saildrive membrane failed, causing us to take on water. Thankfully, Lefkada Yacht Service responded immediately and got to work to fix the issue before things got worse. Since we were out of the water, we took the opportunity to: Replace 50m of anchor chain (Max accidentally bought the wrong ISO chain instead of DIN). Let the blonde have fun spray-painting the new chain to mark scope distances properly. ⛵ Preveza Carnival – Pure Magic: From mourning to joy, Preveza came alive with one of the most incredible carnivals we’ve ever seen. 100,000 people, music, costumes, and non-stop dancing—this was the Carnival we were waiting for! 💦 Emergency Haul-Out – Near Sinking: A failed saildrive membrane could have ended badly, but quick action brought us safely to Cleopatra Marina. A WARNING was issued for holidaymakers. Storm Martinho hit Portugal hard causing huge damage. We had been on our new to us boat for just over a week when the storm hit. We didn't understand how big it was going to be but we did everything we could to save our new boat from heavy damage. Full electric galley, watermaker, 2 years new electronics including auto pilot, radar and 16 inch chartplotter. Custom dinghy lift where you can leave the engine on (comes with 10.5 rib with almost new 20hp motor), new mainsail and jib, 14 foot by 7 foot custom hard top, dive compressor, two electric toilets with 2x 100 litre blackwater tank, put in 3 new fridge/freezer units, new prop shafts, 8 new underwater lights. We took the bottom down to gel-coat and put 6 layers of barrier coat on before new bottom paint (that was 3 years ago) and we replaced every through hull. We installed two new prop shafts and aquadrives. It has 4 staterooms, one oversized queen bed, one queen bed and to double beds with 4 heads but we are using 2 heads as just storage. You can live remote on this boat for months and months without needing to resupply (3 fridge/freezers, crazy amount of solar and giant lithium batteries etc). It still needs some cosmetic work inside and a couple of things here and there, but could cross oceans right now as is. We love this boat but we are aware we aren't going to get back anywhere near the money we put into her. The XR 41 from X-Yachts was quite a departure from what they'd been doing for the last 15 years: concentrating on high-end Performance Racing Cruisers. This is an out and out race yacht, but it’s also a sporty cruiser, thanks to its modular interior. With the design of the keel having a hollow in the centre you (or more likely X-Yachts or a yard) can change the amount of ballast in the boat as well, so it's not just suitable for fully-crewed racing, it can also be configured for double-handed racing and for cruising with more stability. There are so many little features on this boat that we had to talk to the designers and the team at X-Yachts and get out on the water to find out more. The aim for the XR 41 is to win the 2025 ORC World Championship, so to also be a sporty cruiser seems like trying to achieve the impossible, but they may have cracked the formula for just that. To be clear, I highly recommend the Sea Water Pro watermaker. It's served me very well for nearly 4 years. But, eventually the membrane degrades. Which is what happened to mine. Which was brought on a bit earlier by making water in dirty areas.
