Ecco i punti fondamentali da conoscere: ### 1. Indossare sempre il giubbotto salvagente Non è obbligatorio in tutte le situazioni, ma consigliato in caso di mare mosso o se ti senti insicuro. Saper leggere e interpretare le previsioni meteo È essenziale comprendere il vento, i fronti meteorologici e saper prevedere l’evoluzione delle condizioni meteo, anche attraverso app come Windy. ### 8. Navigazione notturna Di notte l'attenzione deve essere ancora maggiore. Utilizzare luci di navigazione corrette e, se possibile, equipaggiarsi con radar per migliorare la visibilità. ### 9. We let the Boat Bottom go for 3 Months... and THIS Took Over! (Easter Weekend Aboard) After three months on anchor aboard our Lagoon 410, it was finally time to tackle the dreaded bottom cleaning- and what we found shocked us. A Marine invertebrate had taken over the hull, an Dad ended up completely covered from head to toe while trying ti remove it! With the boat cleaned up (mostly), we rolled right into a beautiful Easter weekend, full of fun projects and sweet time spent with our friends. Life on the water keeps us guessing- and we wouldn't have it any other way.

The Hanse 460 could be one of the most interesting cruising yachts on the market today. She's got an incredible interior layout that would even please those stepping across from a motor yacht. However the real excitement is on deck with the huge cockpit that can be fully protected from the sun and wind which transforms the experience available to those on deck into a much mure comfortable day out - true luxury sailing in my opinion. In Episode 60 of the Sailing Goat Series, we finally leave Preveza after four long weeks of boat work, delays, and setbacks. With everything ready to go, a nice, steady wind carries us toward the famous Lefkada Floating Bridge—but in true boat-life fashion, we arrive just 2 minutes too late. With the bridge closed, we tie up at the public pier and wait out the 2-hour delay for the next opening. Once the bridge opens, we carefully navigate through the treacherous Lefkada Canal, a narrow, shallow stretch that requires full attention at the helm. On the other side, we’re rewarded with beautiful following winds that take us smoothly to Meganisi, where we drop anchor and spend a peaceful night. The next day, we continue south to Nidri, seeking a sheltered spot to weather out the next storm. With the blonde’s parents arriving to visit, she goes ashore to stay with them, while I stay behind to keep an eye on the boat and make sure everything holds through the approaching blow. ⚓ Final Goodbye to Preveza: After a month of projects and setbacks, we're finally underway again. Preveza was productive, but it's time to chase horizons. 🌉 Lefkada Bridge & Canal Drama: Just missed the bridge opening by two minutes! We wait it out, then carefully navigate one of the most tricky stretches in the Ionian Sea—the Lefkada Canal. 🌬️ Smooth Sailing to Meganisi: With the wind at our back, we enjoy a relaxing sail to the island of Meganisi. It's moments like these that make all the work worthwhile. 🌧️ Storm Watch in Nidri: We drop anchor in Nidri and prep for an incoming storm. This Highfield 660 Sport is both small enough that she's convenient to manage behind your 4X4, boat and around the dock yet she's also big enough that she's a super capable boat in a nice variety of conditions. I think if you are a busy person and looking for a boat that allows you to do more boating and less managing the boat then you will see a lot of value in this model. In part 1 we discover the features of this alloy hulled RIB and in part 2 we put her to the test in what ended up being a decent NE wind with some great chop mixed in with boat wash. At the bar we bounced through a few of the swells coming in which also gave me a clear understanding on what sorts of missions I would consider this boat for. This was not a nice way to be woken up... to say the least! But their attitude and indifference to hitting our home was what really got to us. Let us know how you would handle this situation. ...now back to boat work! ___________________________ Our prior boat - If you are interested in buying our previous boat, Supernova, a beautiful fully kitted out Prout Quasar 50, please send us an email at: sailingsupernova@gmail.com Supernova has tons of upgrades. 4kw solar, 2600 AH of lifpo4 lithium batteries. Full electric galley, watermaker, 2 years new electronics including auto pilot, radar and 16 inch chartplotter. Custom dinghy lift where you can leave the engine on (comes with 10.5 rib with almost new 20hp motor), new mainsail and jib, 14 foot by 7 foot custom hard top, dive compressor, two electric toilets with 2x 100 litre blackwater tank, put in 3 new fridge/freezer units, new prop shafts, 8 new underwater lights. We took the bottom down to gel-coat and put 6 layers of barrier coat on before new bottom paint (that was 3 years ago) and we replaced every through hull. We installed two new prop shafts and aquadrives. It has 4 staterooms, one oversized queen bed, one queen bed and to double beds with 4 heads but we are using 2 heads as just storage. You can live remote on this boat for months and months without needing to resupply (3 fridge/freezers, crazy amount of solar and giant lithium batteries etc). It still needs some cosmetic work inside and a couple of things here and there, but could cross oceans right now as is. We love this boat but we are aware we aren't going to get back anywhere near the money we put into her. Partiamo da tre pilastri fondamentali per ottimizzare la resa della tua imbarcazione: 1️⃣ **La carena** È la prima cosa da curare. Ricevo tantissime domande su eliche e prestazioni, ma la verità è che se non hai la carena pulita, puoi scordarti l’efficienza. La carena va fatta **ogni anno**, anche se la barca viene usata poco. Una carena sporca significa consumi doppi e velocità dimezzata. Tienila in perfetto stato! 2️⃣ **I pesi a bordo** Il peso incide tantissimo. Spesso carichiamo la barca come se fosse un garage: attrezzatura sub, barbecue da giardino, metri e metri di catena d’ancoraggio… ma tutto questo appesantisce l’imbarcazione, aumentando i consumi e riducendo le prestazioni. Spazio e peso non sono la stessa cosa. Occhio a cosa porti a bordo! 3️⃣ **L’elica** Solo **dopo** aver sistemato carena e pesi ha senso parlare di elica. Il passo dell’elica è come il cambio di un’auto: più lungo = più fatica; più corto = più giri. Non esiste l’elica “giusta in assoluto”: esiste quella **ottimale per te**, per la tua barca, il tuo carico e il tuo uso. Una coppia che fa solo trasferimenti veloci ha esigenze diverse da una famiglia che fa sport acquatici. L’elica va scelta su misura. 🎯 Conclusione: Cura la carena, bilancia i pesi, scegli l’elica giusta per il tuo utilizzo. The kids arrived in Palma de Mallorca, and after just one night in the heat, all of us—myself included—were itching to get out on the water. I was excited to show them the new boat and give them a taste of the peaceful, beautiful life aboard a sailboat. Our first sail was to Santa Ponça, where we wisely had an Airbnb booked—seven people packed onto a boat in that kind of heat wasn’t ideal. In fact, we had either a hotel or Airbnb lined up at every anchorage to avoid overcrowding. Santa Ponça was fantastic: warm water, sandy beaches, and a lively college-aged vibe that everyone enjoyed. We spent most of our days lounging on the Sunchill. Next, we sailed over to Andratx and got ready for an overnight crossing to Ibiza. I wanted to avoid spending an entire day at sea, so we opted for a night sail. Luckily, the weather was perfect. We were able to sail most of the way and cruised into the small anchorage at Portinatx just as the sun came up. While I worked on the boat, the kids headed out to a concert on the southern end of the island. They stayed the night there and met back up with us the next day, when we spent time swimming and wandering around town. That’s also when we discovered that Portinatx is very much clothing-optional—definitely a surprise. Earlier in the trip, Jack had mentioned some pain near the base of his spine, and it turned out to be a pilonidal cyst. I told him to let me know if it got worse—and as we were leaving Ibiza, he said the pain had become unbearable. Thankfully, I had a decent surgical kit on board and was able to drain the abscess and remove the hair. We had sterile gauze and saline to pack the wound for the rest of the trip. When he got back to the U.S., the surgeon said it had healed perfectly and didn’t need any further treatment. The cruise back to Mallorca from Ibiza was a little rough for the kids and there was some seasickness. We returned to Andratx for two more nights where we had a great time—dinners out, games, drinks, and even lit up a few cigars to wrap it all up. This Highfield 660 Sport is both small enough that she's convenient to manage behind your 4X4, boat and around the dock yet she's also big enough that she's a super capable boat in a nice variety of conditions. I think if you are a busy person and looking for a boat that allows you to do more boating and less managing the boat then you will see a lot of value in this model. In part 1 we discover the features of this alloy hulled RIB and in part 2 we put her to the test in what ended up being a decent NE wind with some great chop mixed in with boat wash. We island hop through the Caribbean! After crossing the Atlantic Ocean, we reunite with friends in St Lucia, visit an inflatable water park, and enjoy some well-deserved fun. With just a few days to rest, we set sail again—heading toward St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Along the way, we respond to a distress call (that turns out to be a false alarm), and sail past the breathtaking Pitons. In Bequia, we soak in the charm of the colourful streets, sip fresh passion fruit juice, and grab long-awaited coconuts. After giving away our plastic bottles from the crossing, we cool off with a swim and spot an eagle ray before heading to the magical Tobago Cays. There, we snorkel in crystal-clear water, hike above the anchorage, and search for sea turtles. The kids get a sailing lesson on a mini-cat, and we attempt a dinghy ride to a beach we call Rum Island—but Mother Nature had other plans. After exploring iguana-filled rocks and visiting the Pirates of the Caribbean filming site in Wallilabou, we make our way to Martinique for beach days, a floating DJ party, and one unexpected visitor… It’s another wild and wonderful chapter in our floating family adventure.
