Hurricane Irma is coming up Florida now and wracking havoc along the way. We are likely going to avoid any damage and strong weather and may just see some rain and mild wind. We are lucky but our hearts go out to all of those in the way of this storm and the hundreds or thousands of people that have lost property in this storm. A great distraction to remove our being glued to the weather channel we got to meet with Mike and Nicole of the "Wanderer" which is the sister ship to DreamChaser. It also happens to be one of the boats used in the Captain Ron movie. They stopped by and we got to spend time with them which was wonderful !! I continue my 900 nm solo sail from the Azores to Spain. I am astonished to see a dangerous 'fisherman's pot' 200 NM from land. I also admit 'operator error' for not having secured the pins in my shackles. Three came undone during this trip -- fortunately without drama, but it could have been a much different outcome. Lesson learned.

Yep, La Vagabonde reached 22.7 knots boat speed. We couldn’t believe it. With a max of 28 knots wind behind us from about 120 degrees, we surfed down one wave and then caught the next one in front of that. Before we knew it we were all looking at a 22.7 on the nav gear. I had a close eye on the bows making sure they weren't going to bury, they looked like they might but Riley "promised" me that it was normal and fine!! Matthieu says we could have got 25 knots so looks like Riley will be aiming for that next time… I never thought I’d go this fast on a sail boat. Still in recovery from this wild experience. That was a buzz, we hit 40kts wind squalls crossing the Gibraltar straight to Portugal.... this time we reefed early to save our sun damaged sail from shredding. We are pretty excited to get our new (secondhand but great condition) sail in a few weeks time so we can get above 7 kts on the heavy girl. Estávamos 100% para partir, mas por conta dos atrasos da liberação resolvemos desistir.
