3 French guys arriving in the harbour in a big 50 ft Bavaria. They had a small 30 knot window coming from Mohamedia but took is because the where changing them €60 a day!!! So finally some company again and starting to feel a bit better. Having great contact with my Birmese friends that take care of me and gave me some decent food. Planning with the French dad and his two sons to try to leave the day after tomorrow after Benjamin arrives and then finally off the the Canaries!! Looking forward !!

This week, we arrive in Lagos, and have many thing to fix: our autopilot isn’t right and our radar is unusable. After cruising all along the coast of Portugal in the fog, we also decided to install a hailer on Polar Seal’s mast. We were so happy to find a yard that was responsive, spoke English really well, and went the extra mile to help us solve the issue. Ricardo, Arturo and Luis from Sopromar, we are forever grateful for your professionalism!!! As opposed to what our previous electrician told us and after a thourogh inspection on Artur’s part, it turned out that our radar is broken. We install a hailer on the mast, and have tons of fun testing it. Race Day 2 of the Oyster Palma Regatta 2018 saw the competitors warmed up and ready to race over to the ancient Mallorcan town of Andratx in a bid to rack up the points. This week's episode has it all: sailing, racing, parties, friends, and of course, beautiful surroundings! Still nestled in Falmouth Harbour of Antigua, we pick up just after our snorkeling excursion when we stop by to say hello to our friends and crew for Antigua Sail Week, Liz and Jamel. We get talked into a crew dinner of fish tacos aboard their boat that night, but not before exploring Nelson's Dockyard. The festivities for Race Week kick off with the Neon Party at Nelson's Dockyard, where everyone is invited to wear neon clothing under the black lights, and enjoy free drinks with English Harbour Rum. When the races kick off two mornings later, Team Lister Marine is ready to go, with the addition of a local youth sailor, bringing our crew up to 5 people. We have a great race day, and learn where we need work. The next morning we go back to a crew of 4 and really get in our groove. On race day 3 we smash the competition in our Club Class and come in 2nd place....with only 10 seconds keeping us from first! Of course we celebrate this success heavily, and luckily our friend Hugo (The Sailing Frenchman) is around to handle the camera for us as we go on stage and accept our prize. And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. This video outlines one of the most common beginners and intermediate rigging/tuning errors seen in a laser and how to fix it. When the traveler is setup with too big of a triangle, it is impossible to get enough tension in the system to keep the block down on the deck. This is particularly a problem in the transitional wind where minimal vang is recommended (block to block) but mainsheet tension can be approaching or hitting block to block. The big appeal to sailing Montserrat was to check out the abandoned (or should I say demolished?) city of Plymouth. Why was it demolished? Montserrat's volcano became active and blew it's top. And the activity started in 1995 and has been going since then. The volcano is still smoking. Two years prior we sailed from Guadeloupe to Antigua bypassing Montserrat. The weather wasn't right for us to get in there. In fact, Montserrat isn't known for having a calm anchorage. You have to choose your weather window wisely.
