This is part of the process of troubleshooting why we are losing power at 2100 rpm's on my ThornyCroft T-90 diesel engine. No caffiene 2. Don’t go to sea hungover 3. Being down below. Stay on deck as much as possible and when down below, take time to lie down if it’s getting too much and get some fresh air. If you can, open a hatch or have a fan. 4. When down below, have a video of the sea and the horizon on your phone. I found watching this can save me from being ill. 5. Drink lots of water 6. Eat dry salty and bland foods 7. Lie down! 8. Deep breaths 9. Wear loose clothes that are not too tight around your neck. Thermals can be a big problem of they come up too high. 10. Stay cool. Getting to warm is a common trigger 11. Stay busy 12. Listen to music that you love - it’s a great distraction. Dance, sing, whatever, take your mind off it! 13. Know which smells set you off - Diesel is a common one, bananas is a weird one for me! 14. If it gets too much - sleep. Anywhere that is comfortable. For example I have slept under tables more times than I can count because it was more comfortable than my bunk! 15. Find a seasickness medication that works for you. *Scopoderm patches - I said sturgeon which is the wrong one!! 16. Believe that you won’t be ill. I used to hate people saying it but the more tricks I found and the more I believed I might not be ill, the more it worked. 17. For any sailors out there who are seasick, don’t let it get in your way. You will find something that is right for you. If you love being at sea, don’t let anything stop you. While Wisdom is being repainted, Herby and Maddie explore the island of Terciera, Azores! They venture off the beaten path to find a side of the Azores rarely seen (like a geothermal power plant). The wood finally arrives at the boat so that they can begin the galley refit! The plan is to build sepele mahogany butcher block counter tops. Herby and Maddie also take a walk into town (Praia Victoria) when they take a break from editing videos. Herby takes care of the rot occurring in the closet and under the floors. The rotten wood is removed and repaired in a way that should hold up for many years to come. He uses closed cell foam coring and fiberglass to repair the lost wood. A winter cruise on British Columbia's North Coast.

Trying to cross the Java Sea, slowly everything becomes against us. At least we can smile! https://www.sailingnandji.com This week on Sailing Nandji, we continue our passage West towards Malaysia and our new engine. We had already been at sea for 6 days as we had a following sea and favourable wind to keep sailing across the Java Sea. The dream run could not last forever though as we are hit by a squall and it leaves us drifting with no wind in the hot sun. Finally reaching land fall after 9 days at sea, we rest up, run on the beach and then head back to sea battling terrible weather with squall after squall. Trying to sail with all the elements stacked against us, things break and make this next passage a real struggle and our hardest challenge to date! Determined to reach Malaysia and our new motor, we push on and battle our way across the Java Sea. We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We have been in Indonesia for a couple of months cruising and are now high tailing to Malaysia for boat work. We departed Australia 18 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! After a cruisy sail from Carriacou we arrived in St Georges bay in Grenada and set about exploring the town. The next day we got down to work, walking for miles around the town in search of an electric motor that may be able to serve as a replacement in our engine driven water maker and refrigeration system, and some solar panels to power it. After a serendipitous lunch meeting during which we tried the Grenadan national dish 'Oildown' we found an interesting way to source some solar panels that were cheaper than all the marine stores we'd found! So the next day we did some wheeling and dealing to get a bargain! The next challenge was getting them back to the boat and installed. The Most Beautiful Place in Caribbean - Tobago Cays - Sailing Nipe EP 15 After Christmas and New Year we sailed down to Tobago Cays were we spend a couple of days with good snorkeling and in the evenings amazing lobster dinners. We get really good footage with the drone, a bit scary because it was very windy.

We finally see the ocean for the first time in weeks and sail to Key Largo before we make the Bimini crossing. We dive on the Christ of the Abyss which is one of the most beautiful reefs in Flordia and try sea urchin. We are loving this adventure so much, the kids included. Hey guys, we're back after an incredible break for us but our videos will continue right where we left off... Which is in Antigua. We spent an amazing week anchored off Jacky O's restaurant with mostly the beach to ourselves and then partied with our Ozy friends in English Harbour. Shirley Heights is the perfect place to watch the sunset but get there early to get a good spot and you MUST try the ribs, they're to die for! Upon leaving Antigua Dave decided to see if he could race some other boats into St Barts in our 20 tonne cruising catamaran and to be fair he didn't do too bad but most likely, the other participants in the race had no idea he was racing them ;) We'll do our best to post more regular videos from now on.... hopefully ;) FYI, this video is January 2018. (Ep.61) We get started restoring & making our Volvo Stern Drive look fancy schmancy again! She was definitely neglected & needed some good ol loving & now she looks brand new again! Can't wait to get her installed! Sailboat Racing, Sunset Horn Blasting, and Partying on the Strip in Put-In Bay!! This week we continue our Put In Bay series up on Lake Erie. After some challenging racing in fluky winds, we bring the J-24 Orange Whip back in in the pouring rain. But the clouds crack open and Loren and I explore the island via the slowest golf cart in the world. Including the world famous "Shiphouse" erected from one of Henry Ford's ships...very cool.
