Traversée en voilier depuis Vilamoura (Portugal) vers les Canaries sur l'île de La Graciosa. Une première traversée qui dure plusieurs jours fait un peu peur. Surtout quand on ne sait pas à quoi ressemble une navigation sur l'Océan Atlantique et quand on est seul au milieu de nul part. Il nous a fallu presque cinq jours pour arriver aux Îles Canaries depuis le sud du Portugal. The water at the reef was freezing cold, but that didn't stop us from swimming around or from enjoying ourselves while in such a beautiful place! We were just glad that we wore our shorty wet suites to help keep us warm. Snorkeling on the North West side of Guana Cay turned out to be a fantastic spot to find vibrant sea-life and it had lots of variety for dinghy anchoring spots as well as several dive morrings to chose from. We did a little bit of both and found that no matter where we went, the reefs were spectacular and there was plenty of fish swimming around! After a cold, but fun morning of snorkeling we returned back to Turtle and picked up anchor so we could continue our transit across the Abacos. And we had a Family Circus Adventure up a remote river in Vanuatu with a broken down dinghy and no tools to fix it. Find out how we get out of that pickle and then have a great time learning how to make and drink Kava with the villagers in the Maskelyne Islands. The core of "Family Circus" is Chris (Dad / Captain), Sayo (Mom / Admiral), Aya (First Officer / Deckhand) and Miya (Baby / Stainless Polisher). After many years in business in Vancouver we were tired of life inside the box and wanted to make a change, we just weren't exactly sure what would be next. In July of 2016, when Sayo was six months pregnant, we decided (somewhat at the last minute) to fly to New Caledonia for one last holiday before the baby was born. On this trip we decided to buy "Family Circus", planned to sail her to New Zealand and started an adventure that has changed our lives. Pegamos ônibus, nos viramos super bem, conhecemos amigos, fomos convidados para happy hours nos vizinhos, batemos papo de convés com os moradores temporários e permanentes das poitas... Foi simplesmente difícil sair desse contexto que tanto nos cabia e agradava! Ainda de quebra, conheci o Pedro, meu primo, da família do meu pai. Um querido, veio a bordo com uma amiga querida também. Foi muito delícia, incrível como o sangue fala. Por fim, vale falar sobre o Giovanni, que dá apoio para o pessoal, faz a segurança das poitas, cuida dos velejadores, dá bronca, comanda a paróquia toda e garante que seja tudo fácil pra quem quiser vir ao Rio. O cara é sensacional! Vimos o Rio pela popa pensando se essa seria nossa primeira lição de desapego dessa vida de cruzeirista. Talvez sim, talvez amemos vários lugares onde pensamos poder ficar mais, mas tenhamos que aprender a partir nos confortando com a ideia de que talvez um dia vamos voltar. No caso do Rio é quase uma certeza.
