The weather has settled and we have a very small window to sail to the tiny island of Niue. Our seas are stunning, the down wind sail is perfect and the cats are loving the smooth ride. Until Mother Nature decides to throw us a curve ball: 30+ knots of wind for 24 hours straight. There's a massive weather system blowing 60+ just south of us, so the waves build in no time! The waves don't look huge from the video but believe me when we tell you they were crashing over the hard top. That means they were at least 15 feet tall! In this episode we are on our way to Yellowstone national park, the road to get there is over the mountain pass with a lot of amazing, panoramic views. There was still some snow on the tops in the middle of summer. We stopped to see a wild river and gave some nuts to the local chipmunks, they where so cute. We even got to pet them. Lanzarote had volcanic eruptions for six years from 1730 to 1736 and a smaller one in 1824, its status is classified as historical and therefore dormant, although you can feel the heat under the surface at Timanfaya. Black lion en Australie, 9 septembre, les cargos sont de plus en plus présents. Brisbane est en approche, nous y serons ce soir. Nous visons Rivergate Marina par le chenal. Quels contrastes énormes avec nos ilots de sable ; cela nous rappelle notre arrivée à Cebu aux Philippines ! Des avions, des usines, du bruit, de la pollution. AU PAYS DES KANGOUROUS - AUSTRALIE « Au premier voyage on découvre, au second on s’enrichit. » Entre notre premier voyage et le début de celui-ci, nous constatons la chose étonnante suivante : depuis des régions « amas nautique », c’est-à-dire des régions où pour raisons x ou y les bateaux décident de rester à long termes ; comme par exemple la Thaïlande, les Antilles ou la Nouvelle Calédonie ; un phénomène inévitable se produit, la médisance sur les contrées voisines de plus d’une nuit de mer. Je m’explique, lors de nos escales prolongées dans ces bases maritimes, lorsque l’on vient à parler des pays à proximités, un flux d’informations négatives vient souvent influencer d’éventuelles odyssées dans ces lieux proches. Je me suis souvent questionnée sur ce sujet et explique ces décris gratuits par les rumeurs. Certes les rumeurs peuvent être fondées sur une histoire vraie mais les ouï-dire ont vite fait d’ornementer d’affabulations la réalité. Prenons par exemple depuis la Thaïlande, les Chagos à un peu plus de 1800 milles nautiques ; à l’époque où nous y étions, si nous avions écouté les rapports des plaisanciers, séjourner dans cet atoll n’était plus possible dut à une règlementation devenue trop drastique. Impossible n’étant pas dans notre vocabulaire nous avons engagé les procédures pour pouvoir nous y rendre. Nous avons attendu trois mois mais notre persévérance a eu gain de notre autorisation. Aux Antilles, bien forgées dans la masse sont les idées reçues sur le Venezuela ! Tous ceux qui nous en parlé n’y avaient jamais mis les pieds mais le copain de leur copain le savait bien, ce pays était trop dangereux ! Les calomnies étaient telles que nous avons bien failli renoncer à cette étape fascinante. Et vient l’Australie aux regards des marins de Nouvelle Calédonie. Les assertions sur l’arrivée en bateau dans cette île continent déroutent à un tel point qu’une clearence de sortie avec comme destination Brisbane semble nous envoyer directement dans la gueule d’un loup impitoyable. Au risque de nous voir refouler du pays, nous avons osé franchir les eaux frontalières. L’avantage quand on a en tête tous un tas de ragots diffamatoires, c’est que dans leurs cas contraires, une surprise agréable nous attend. Ce qui fut le cas ce dimanche 9 septembre. Disposés à recevoir les autorités, nous avions tout de même bien préparer notre coup ! Cuve à eaux noires « indispensable », antifouling neuf obligatoire, produits frais en petite quantité puisque confisqués à l’arrivée. De ces exigences, il en ressort que nous avons dépensé 600 euros pour rien dans notre bac à caca, que nous au-rions très bien pu faire notre carénage ici et que la quarantaine comme nous, aime le saucisson et si celui-ci ne sort pas du bateau, tout va pour le mieux du monde ! Ce que l’on ne peut nier, c’est la droiture et la rigueur avec lesquelles sont faites les formalités par des agents pointilleux et professionnels ; mais au moins quand on perd une matinée à faire des paperasses, on sait pourquoi car dans la plupart des pays, nous avons vraiment l’impression de perdre notre temps et les contrôles « minutieux » de l’immigration ressemblent plus à un grand folklore corrompu ; nous en sommes même venus à penser quelques fois, que la présentation de notre liste de course ferait exactement le même effet que nos actes de navigation. Nous avons toutefois été troublé par le dossier relativement complet à notre sujet détenu par les Border Force, liasse de papiers incluant une photo de Blacklion au mouillage de la baie de l’Orphelinat ! Mis à part cela, nous avons été extrêmement bien accueillis au pays des kangourous !

Zu unserem ersten Segelfilm: 180° - Auf Kurs in die Freiheit https://www.bootsprofis.tv/film Wir haben Ende 2015 ein Segelboot gekauft, das nicht wirklich segelbereit war. Und dann musste alles sehr schnell gehen, denn der kleine Max war ja auf dem Weg. Wir haben innerhalb von ein paar Monaten einen umfänglichen Refit unserer 39 Fuß Comfortina gemacht und hatten nicht mehr wirklich Zeit, sie ausgiebig im Wasser zu testen und auch mal unter extremeren Bedingungen zu segeln. So sind wir schon im August 2016 auf unsere Blau Wasser Segelreise gestartet - kurz nach der Geburt von Max, denn wir wollten ja die Elternzeit für unsere Langfahrt nutzen. Und da kam es natürlich, wie es kommen musste: Besonders am Anfang hat unser Schiff einige Macken gezeigt, viele technische Themen traten auf und wir mussten wirklich viel reparieren... Wobei wir eigentlich Zeitdruck hatten und noch vor Oktober über die Biskaya segeln wollten bzw. mussten. Der Start unserer Reise war definitiv keine einfache Zeit, denn es gab viele Herausforderungen zu meistern. Mit mehr Vorbereitungszeit hätten wir uns einige davon wohl gespart. Wir halten es für sehr wichtig, dass man sich vor dem Start seiner eigenen Reise genügend mit seinem Schiff auseinandersetzt und es richtig kennenlernt. Eben, um auf Reise tatsächlich auch reisen zu können und nicht nur am Segelboot zu basteln. Das ist eins der wichtigsten Learnings für uns gewesen. Außerdem: tritt ein technisches Problem auf See auf, möchte man natürlich sofort wissen, was es genau ist und wie man es schnell lösen kann. Kennt man sein Schiff nicht in - und auswendig, kraucht man im schlimmsten Fall bei ordentlich Seegang irgendwo im Boot umher und versucht irgendwie erstmal das Problem zu finden, bevor man es fixen kann. Das Schiff liegt sicher im Hafen. Wir nutzten diese Gelegenheit um euch zwei Sachen zu erzählen. Zum einen, was wir noch vorhaben. Es gibt eine einige größere und kleinere Arbeiten die wir erledigen müssen. Unter anderem muss noch Radar und Windgenerator angebracht werden. Aber auch das Getriebe soll sich mal angeschaut werden. Zum anderen unsere Reiseroute. Wir wollen mit unserer Langfahrt im April 2020 starten. Zunächst soll es dann von Kroatien aus an der Adriaküste bis nach Griechenland gehen wo wir dann ein paar Monate bleiben werden. Danach geht es quer durchs Mittelmeer bis auf die Kanaren, wo wir dann den großen Schlag auf die Karibik vorbereiten. Am Ende kommt es denn wahrscheinlich immer doch ein bisschen anders als am plant, aber das wird erst mal unsere grobe Routenplanung. We departed Peterson Bay and the spectacular Blue Holes, moving further up the east coast of Santo Island. First we visited Hog Harbour then we anchored at Port Olry

In this episode we continue sailing in Greece from Eretria to Khalkis. We leave the anchorage of Eretria and get a send off from the RAF Red Arrows! The journey was mainly under engine as the sea state was quite calm with very little wind. Still a pleasant trip. We get to use transit markers for the first time since we've been sailing in the Med. We sail underneath the High Bridge Evripos, which itself is a significant landmark in Khalkis (Chalkis). Au cœur de cette symbiose, nous savourons notre « chance » que nous partageons maintenant avec un monocoque de 11 mètres. Il vient d’arriver ! Le voyage est fait de rencontres incongrues, d’échanges inattendus et de coïncidences casuelles. On dit qu’il n’y a pas de hasard, alors ceux qui croisent notre route font partie de notre aventure et nous de la leur. L’opportunité crée rapidement un lien entre nous, des moments de partage regroupent nos centres d’intérêts communs et sans rien attendre de l’autre nous profitons de l’instant présent. Les soirées festives accélèrent la cadence du copinage et organisent les journées suivantes. Pique-nique sur un îlot, expédition snorkeling ou encore incursion en plongée bouteille. Si ça ce n’est pas la classe ! Pour mon anniversaire, nos vadrouilleurs m’offrent un baptême de plongée aux Chesterfields ! Profs en la matière, ils m’ont assuré que les bulles effraient les requins ! Et finalement les risques sont moindres, nous sommes cinq à buller et Cyril supervise l’ensemble avec sa caméra ! Immergée en totalité j’ai l’impression d’être moins vulnérable qu’en apnée, je regarde défiler des thons à « dents de chiens » et des requins gris de récif sans m’en inquiéter ! La patate autour de laquelle nous progressons est superbe, le corail s’est assemblé en créant des jardins de polypes élégants. Les poissons clowns timorés suivent de leurs petits yeux notre passage et les serpents téméraires s’en prennent à mon moniteur ophiophobe à ses heures !

We anchor at Isle Bailly tender in to find our way to the start of the trail to the summit of Mount Dore, a hike 7.2km that follows summit ridge to an elevation of 772 metres overlooking the city of Noumea and the Grand Lagoon We head towards Isle of Pines, stopping at Isle Du-Ana where we discover a yacht that has run aground and lies wrecked on the edge of the beach. Continuing on we arrive at Kuto Bay in Isle of Pines After organising a tour of the island we explore St Maurice Bay, Vao Village and the Notre Dame de l’Assomption Catholic Church, Queen Hortense's Cave, Oro natural pool or the also known as the Blue Hole, and the old jail ruins.
