Ottis and Kim travel to Old Algiers for Christmas where they receive their long awaited portable Freezer. Our installed Isotherm refrigerator icebox has been very adequate for keeping our food cold on Stella Maris but we have not had a freezer to extend our fresh food provisions or to preserve our fresh catch for later meals. We are so happy to have the Engel 12 volt DC powered freezer that will easily keep food frozen solid powered from our solar panels using about 45 ampere hours per day. A plus is now we will be able to have ice without going ashore or doing without. Just for fun we head over to New Orleans on the day after Christmas dressed in our Santa and Mrs. Claus "Casual attire". We ride the Mississippi river ferry and hop on a street car trolly to the French Market and the Central Grocery for an Original Muffuletta. We are so looking forward to getting back aboard Stella Maris in just a few days. Our next video we hope will be from Indiantown Marina in Florida as we remove all the hurricane preps we made and put the sails and other items back aboard to make her ready to sail again. This is the least expensive room for a family of up to 6 to travel on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas. These rooms are not advertised on the Royal Caribbean website so you'll have to call RC or ask your travel agent about availability. The Ultra Spacious Family Rooms feature a king bed, a sleeper sofa and two bunk beds, plus plenty of closet space. This room works perfectly for me and my 4 kids. This is an interior room and is less expensive than the ocean view but we don't spend much time in our room anyway so it doesn't matter a lot to us to have a view. We are still actively trying to sell Turtle as quickly as possible, but haven't gotten any calls yet. Kenzie put together a video showing all of the upgrades we made to our boat in hopes of grabbing people's attention. Here is a link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhLan1B1Vd0&t=381s On day 6 of being anchored at Palm Beach, near Peanut Island, we decided that we would motor out to sea so we could dump the toilet. We hadn't quite made it to the other side of the anchorage when Kenzie noticed that the floor inside the cabin looked wet. As she went down below it was quickly made known that the diesel engine had sprung a leak somehow and was making quite the mess on the floor and in the bilge! We quickly shut the engine off and hoisted the mainsail so we could safely make our way back to where we had been anchored. Upon examination we found that the fitting for the fuel return line got split open causing the fuel to spray wildly. We later realized that the malfunction must have occurred when Randall was placing the companionway steps back over the engine on a previous day. After a scary start to the journey with problems with our AIS in the middle of the second busiest shipping lanes in the world... We are blessed with the most amazing conditions and make great tracks to Thailand. We have the best sunsets and sunrises we have seen in a long time! For some reason the best sunsets are at sea! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we have returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! The adventure is just beginning as we plan to sail our Nandji around the world!! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! Unfortunately there was not much wind throughout Indonesia, so we had to use the engine... ALOT. The seals on the C-Drive need to be replaced after every 800 Engine hours, and we didn't budget for the light winds in Indonesia. So we had to get Aquarius out of the water in a hurry, and the only place we could find was Asian Fast Marine. Asian Fast Marine is located 20 miles South of Singapore, on the Indonesian Island of Batam. This was the fasted haul out and return we ever had, 23:30 hours! WOW. If you need to haul out in Indonesia, Asian Fast Marine will probably be your Best CHOICE. The only problem is that only their employees are required to all the work on you boat. But, it was fairly priced, and their workers have skills! Matt Allen speaks about the challenges that Ichi Ban faced in crossing three complex transition troughs during the race.

Ichi Ban’s navigator Will Oxley describes how they strategised to transition through the two troughs that largely dictated this year’s race tactics. He also talks about sail strategy, polars and the critical importance of staying in the sails’ sweet spot.

Will Oxley is not only one of the world’s best ocean race navigators, but he’s also a meteorologist and marine ecologist. So we asked him to talk about the complexities that the recent bushfires presented to forecasting for the race. Will’s response started with the big picture of climate trends and how this is changing the nature of this famous race.

Il 2019 è stato un anno davvero eccezionale: 10 vacanze in barca a vela organizzate, che hanno portato 23 equipaggi per un totale di ben 188 persone a vivere il nostro bellissimo mare da un punto di vista alternativo e privilegiato! Abbiamo fatto bagni fuori stagione, ci siamo crogiolati al sole, aperitivato al tramonto e chiacchierato in pozzetto con gli amici fino a tarda notte, per poi contemplare il magnifico spettacolo del cielo stellato; abbiamo atteso per ore un filo di vento, veleggiato sbandati al limite della bolina oppure con un buon vento in poppa fino alle veleggiate notturne ascoltando il silenzioso fruscio dello scafo sull'acqua; abbiamo toccato rive sconosciute, visitato isole deserte e fatto amicizia con tartarughe giganti; a volte siamo crollati dalla stanchezza sui divanetti mentre i nostri amici ancora festeggiavano o siamo stati tentati di mollare tutto per lo sconforto... ma mai abbiamo assaporato momenti così sinceri e liberi, che ci hanno immancabilmente donato immensa gioia.
