Sailing the Grenadines No matter what path you're on sometimes we forget to slow down and enjoy our surroundings. This week we have spent camera free in the postcard beautiful anchorage of Mayreau. We are all rested and relaxed. OUR CUPS FILL OVER. And now we get to head over to Tobago Cays, for the next couple of VERY calm days. The Tobago Cays has been on the top of our bucket list of places to sail to while we are in the Caribbean. The reef here is EPIC and we just couldn’t get enough of it. So much underwater life! Turquoise Blue Waters. Tropical island postcard backdrops. Living on a boat is all about making mistakes and, hopefully, learning from them. The learning experience, however, never ends and even after sailing and being full time liveaboard cruisers for 6 years, we still make silly mistakes. This week is full of ups and downs as we continue to sail the Atlantic coast of France, one of the most enjoyable cruising grounds we've ever discovered. 00:00 A soggy start to the day 01:59 Something I really don't like about Ruby Rose 03:40 NOT Nick's finest moment 06:30 Coming into an unfamiliar harbour 07:48 Crash 😬 09:55 Let's go exploring! 12:40 🍻 15:38 Next week preview 😉 Thanks for watching! How could anyone be so close and not at least take a peek at what’s going on down there?!? Someone once said that only ever seeing the ocean from the surface is like going to the circus and staring at the outside of the tent. I think we’re all drawn to the ocean but some of us more than others. My fascination with the ocean lies in its mysteries. There is a big world under there and it piques my curiosity like nothing else. Ok, the ocean and space are probably equal on my curiosity scale. But, the ocean is something I can explore with nothing more than a pair of goggles. Space not so much. Luckily for us, the crew of @SailingZatara likes to dive just as much as we do. So, without further ado, enjoy this journey 60 feet down and into the Caves of Babylon. WHO ARE WE? We’re Jason and Nikki Wynn. We been living #OffTheGrid and exploring the world for 10 years. Our first six years of #travel were an epic road trip around North America. Now we’re on a #sailing voyage about the world. Did we have any previous sailing experience, of course not! Neither of us is overly talented, smart, rich, lucky, or retired. But that doesn’t stop us from reaching far-flung destinations, having wild #adventures and managing everything that makes living aboard a moving vessel possible. We’re two ordinary people that just so happen to live an extraordinary life. And this is why we publish our lives on the world wide web. We share in hopes of inspiring you to find your adventure. The planning, weather routing and journey timing for our sail across the Pacific to Australia has begun. For this voyage we are trying something new, we are sailing in convoy with two other cruising boats Calle II and Moody Finn, it’s a crossing that is shaping up to be our best sail ever. As with any sail in close proximity to other boats, we can’t help but turn it in to a race, even though it’s not a race and we’re losing! No matter, it’s still early days, we’re philosophical that when the wind picks up so will our race position, even though it's not a race. While we wait for this to happen we practise our Oz-tralian and Rob cooks up a yummy Pumpkin soup. Music Luna Keller – I don’t know where I’m going The Hungry Years – Lower case noises David Mumford – Bonfire David Mumford – Ball and chain WHO ARE WE? In 1997, after a disastrous Olympic rowing campaign, Rob decided to row a seven-metre plywood boat, 2500 miles from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean. It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014, we invested in Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Robert's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with our three children, Finn 17, Declan 15 and Ivan 12, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world, meet the locals and record our adventures. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram and Facebook @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill #NeverStopWanderingNeverStopWondering. #TheCruisingKiwis

Full-Time RV Life - What Have We Done? This is our very first night of full-time RV Life. Um, what have we done? Was this a mistake? RV living SOUNDS fun and, well, you'll have to see for yourself. Could you go RVing full time for this exotic life of RV travel? RV life is... work. This is our first night of full-time RV living as we embark on this RV America tour of life on the road. And at this point, we have pretty much zero experience with this RV lifestyle. We're still in the middle of the renovation, so our home on wheels isn't quite ready to rock. We were hoping that for our first time full-time our RV trailer would be a little farther along. But... we overstayed our welcome at the last two places we were fixing up our 5th wheel toy hauler, so our first night in the RV trailer was not quite... perfect. Full-time RV life is never boring - there is always stuff you need to do. And then you have to try to squeeze in time for work! If you're a full-time RVer, you better be willing to work on that beast. It doesn't matter if it's brand new - stuff breaks on your 5th wheel. If you drop it off at the shop while full-time RVing, you'll have nowhere to live. We've had to figure out a LOT to make 5th wheel living full-time possible. Mai 2019. Hey, everyone Welcome to My Channel " Sailing Salacia Star " When cruising around the world, you can meet some wonderful people. We have just had the best time with SV Sunday Ryan, Brittni & their fur babies Jackson & Finn. When separated during a bit of wild weather Lou found herself very emotional, not knowing how they are doing & where they have sailed. Keep watching. in episode 52 all should be revealed. What happens to most of us when our kids have families, careers & children of their own? It can feel lonely, left out & downright depressing just going through our daily routines & catching any spare time the kids would have for us. Well, we decided to do something about that, we set off on a journey around Australia in our RV until karma had other plans. Our lives took a different direction after this, which allowed us to grab a lifetime dream that we didn’t think was ever possible but in reality, it was. Please join two boomers as we embark on our new chapter & how we manage life & family from our MacIntosh 47’ sailboat heading home to Australia. ============================================== Subscribe to our channel. It's the #1 rule in business: know your customer. Yet it's easy for coaches, parents, and youth sailing leaders to overlook simply asking the kids what they want. This panel puts the kids in control, with a group of US Sailing Youth Advisory Board members sharing their perspectives on what kids want, how youth sailing is changing in 2020, and the future of youth sailing. Bons ventos. 👊🏽 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canções incluídas no vídeo, por ordem de apresentação: Vincent Augustus - We Go Ryan Andersen - Portland Rain Vincent Augustus - Indigo Cullah - Rhapsody in Lieu of Etude Derek Clegg - I Have You As canções são de domínio público ou têm uma licença: www.creativecommons.org Este vídeo tem também uma Licença Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We sailed from Vancouver Island, Port McNeill, BC Canada to the mainland BC Canada into Raleigh Passage Inlet, and the ocean again was incredibly calm and calming. This once again is a manifest for me to see how deeply we are connected to nature, and our deepest roots within nature, well,.. we are nature. My new DJI Mavic Air 2 did fantastically to capture those moments in time, enjoy, and if you liked the video and want to follow along on my future adventures to come, consider subscribing, thx for watching mates. follow my Instagram Music from Soundstripe: Wild, Emorie
My quest for deeper water came to an end, and I sailed from Hota back to Yuminoshima Marina in Tokyo Bay, leaving in the wee hours of the day under the still of darkness. Once back in harbor, I was able to make some repairs and take Wahine out with friends and family. It's given me valuable experience -- experience I need! -- that will help me when I set off alone across the Pacific less than a year from now. Full test in Multihulls World #177: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/catamaran/leopard-42-an-efficient-and-affordable-catamaran Our Editor in Chief, Emmanuel van Deth, sat down with Franck Bauguil, Vice President of Leopard Catamarans Sales to talk about the new Leopard 42. Discover all there is to know about this brand new model! In the spirit of the 45 and the 50, the new Leopard 42 offers the best compromise between comfort and performance by keeping a powerful sail plan - overlapping genoa, square-topped mainsail (option) - and hulls with pronounced chines. This model has been designed to accommodate 8 people without restrictions thanks to its volume and its load capacity of nearly 4 tons. There’s the same generosity in terms of tank capacity. The 42 remains faithful to the forward door between the saloon and the foredeck, but offers a lounge on the coachroof, within reach of the raised helm station and with dedicated access. All sail maneuvers are accessible to the helmsman so as to facilitate short- or single-handed sailing. Inside, the yard has retained the concept of the galley being forward in the saloon and facing forward, as with the chart table. All berths (in 3 or 4-cabin version and the same number of bathrooms) are accessible from the sides. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Builder: Robertson & Caine Architect: Simonis & Voogd Design Length: 41’7” (12.67 m) Beam: 23’1” (7.04 m) Draft: 4’7” (1.40 m) Displacement: 26,100 lbs (11,840 kg) Standard sail area: 1,255 sq ft (116.6 m²) Mainsail: 755 sq ft (70.1 m²) Genoa: 500 sq ft (46.5 m²) Engines: 2 x 45 hp Fuel capacity: 158 US gal (600 l) Water: 174 US gal (660 l) Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! In this middle section of the passage we make the turn west into the trade-winds. We’ve headed almost 200nm south and are now just north of the Cape Verde Islands. And as the temps warm and the winds change from northerlies to easterlies, the westerly currents also begin to kick in, giving us a 1 to 2 knot boost. Our decision to go south starts paying dividends as boats north of us encounter barely sailable winds, leading many to motor. Squalls become more prevalent as we approach the center of the Atlantic, and will build in frequency the closer we get to the Caribbean. These travel faster than Talisman can sail, so we track them on radar as they approach from behind. With 8 miles or so advance notice, we find we can steer our way out of their paths, assuming they’re not too close to one another. Winds in and near the squalls crest 35 and even 40 knots, especially at night, so it’s worth the effort to be vigilant. Max and Luis continue to rock the house when it comes to their work ethic, bringing excellent sailing skills to bear. The boat is kept clean and the sails are deployed and doused multiple times each day. With four people, the workload feels like a vacation for the normally doublehanded Kevin and Wendy half of the crew. But with the steadily increasing winds, it’s eventually time to put away the big gennaker cruising chute for good, in favor of our poled out genoa. Our mainsail and genoa are constructed of nearly indestructible laminated Dynema, so these help bolster our confidence, especially when running at night in moonless conditions where squalls might form directly on top of us. Contact info for Luis: Luis would make an awesome skipper for any boat looking to do the 2020 ARC, especially if they had an eye on placing well in the racing division. You’d have to pay him, but seriously, if you’re a boat owner looking to find a true ringer skipper, Luis would be the one to have. He and his father have won just about every Snipe race around Lisbon growing up, and he’s hyper competitive (all great sailors start off as dinghy racers). I should add that it must have been killing him during our crossing to not have been pushing the boat harder, especially at the finish line. But his respect for Wendy and I was more important, so he accepted our laid-back, get-there-in-one-piece-with-no-damage-to-the-boat plan. If I were to do the crossing again, I’d make Luis skipper and let him flog the boat to his heart’s content. I’m now confident that he knows the limits of the design, and did before we left. Highlight video of the Hunter 340 "Sunspot Baby" and crew sailing in the Peanut Regatta of Waterford #28 sailboat race on Galveston Bay on September 13th. Fourteen boats racing, pursuit start, about nine nautical mile race. Light winds, dolphins, a close finish, and a great time with the crew and the other racers. There's a heavy North Atlantic storm blowing over us, and our neighbor's anchor chain wrapped right around ours! We prepare ourselves for a restless night as we know a bad storm with sustained winds in the mid 30's and above will be blowing over us. But just as it's getting started, (around midnight, as always) we hear a bump-bump and realize our neighbor has dragged into us! They managed to get off without issue, but a few hours later a pan pan is put out and St. Mary's rescue boat heads into our anchorage to assist another boat in need. 36 hours later, after the storm has passed, it's time to head back to the mainland. We get the anchor up just after dawn, and leaving in some very sloppy seas, make our way to the Falmouth area. The start may have been a little rough, but the sights greeting us when we arrived are nothing short of heavenly. We hope you enjoy! Much love from the Isles of Scilly! We have been cleared to leave Costa Rica for our longest sail yet to Mexico. After nearly 2 months spent in Costa Rica, or should I say the coast of Costa Rica, all during the pandemic of 2020, we now are leaving for Mexico. Customs and immigration have stamped our passports, our bilges are full of food, and we are ready to set sail. On this episode, we take off from safe harbour of Marina Papagayo and sail out to sea with anticipation of three weeks on the open ocean. We capture some on the most incredible underwater footage of dolphins as the escort us out to sea and on for our biggest adventure yet. We have perfect winds for the first 100 nautical miles and settle into a long and much anticipated trip for the Baja of California. Thanks for watching the Adventures of WE!
