We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. The sailing in our home water the Baltic Sea is part of our preparation to sail to the Mediterranean Sea. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.

If it’s gonna happen, it will happen out there! Join us as we keep on trucking across the Atlantic, from St. Maarten to the Azores in this leg of our around the world circumnavigation. We are trying to sail around the world, West About, via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good hope. We launched our boat in July of 2019 and have sailed over 7,000 miles so far crossing oceans. Our journey was paused a bit in Grenada because of the, well....you know what. But we made the best of it and did boat projects, repairs, upgrades, and lots of scuba diving, hiking, and exploring. We took off again in May, hopefully this time we can continue to sail without another major interruption. It is going to be tricky though. There are still closures and additional paperwork is now required. We will do it though. This relaxing video has us sailing in the Atlantic ocean, during the first 1/3 of our transatlantic voyage. Our weather routing has us making a straight shot, rather than over the top of low pressure systems via Bermuda. This is unconventional, but so is our trip. Our route will continue to take us in the Portuguese trades, to the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, then on to Argentina, Chile, Cape Horn, and Patagonia. This is where we really want to sail away to and escape into the purity of nature. We hope to get there, but this trip is not easy. Like you, before we left we also watched the inspiring videos of s/v Delos, Sailing La Vagabonde, Project Atticus, and Gone with the Wynns to name a few. We have to take a moment to thank those that have gone before, and we hope that we can inspire you like we were. Avec la fatigue, les émotions nous gagnent… Les papiers de sortie ont été fait sans soucis. Je reste allongée, impuissante, en laissant Cyril quitter le mouillage seul. En considérant la dernière prise de prévisions météo, il semblerait que les 233 milles qui nous séparent de Madinina vont pouvoir s’effectuer sans encombre climatique. À contre sens, un pélican plane dans notre direction, d’où arrive-t-il ? Dans moins de 48 heures nous serons en Martinique… Le vent n’est pas encore établi et la mer à peine striée, qu’une énigmatique ondulation froisse grossièrement l’horizon. Elle ne correspond pas à un mascaret, ni à un mouvement marin provoqué par le courant. C’est plutôt une perturbation à fréquences régulières qui ressemblerait à un déplacement généré par un pavé dans une mare ou encore une activité sismique sous-marine. Encore un phénomène qui titille notre curiosité. Et si ces ondes étaient causées par les activités humaines des plateformes pétrolières ! Nous allons les dépasser dans peu de temps, dire qu’à l’aller, nous les avons doublées par 45 nœuds de vent ! D’abord timide, 9 nœuds, il encourage notre Blacky à s’élancer à 6,8 nœuds dans une houle légèrement de travers. L’allure augmente, le sillage se trace au couchant, la lune a déjà pris place. 21 septembre, 110 milles en vingt heures. Mon Tchoupi a assumé la nuit tout seul, réveil toutes les 50 minutes. La suite va dépendre de son état de fatigue, tracer d’un trait les 123 milles restant ou nous arrêter pour la nuit à Sainte Lucie. 10-12 nœuds au bon plein, pas de sargasses, l’allure est idéale pour une pêche miraculeuse ! Blacky lion est ancré dans la baie de Sainte Anne depuis deux jours, finalement, sous claire de lune, nous sommes arrivés de nuit. Am dritten Segeltag unseres Mallorca Törns geht es einmal um das Inselarchipel Cabrera. Wir haben ein erstes Dinghy-Abenteuer mit der Blauen Grotte, ziehen die Tücher auf und segeln eine lange Zeit in Richtung Tunesien - eine wunderbare, regelrecht meditative Zeit auf dem Wasser. Mit einem harten Am-Wind Kurs geht es schließlich wieder zurück ums Nordwest-Kap, in den Naturhafen, von wo aus wir in der nächsten Episode nach Andratx aufbrechen. Thema des Tages: Herausforderungen anders sehen.

We depart from the USVI and sneak past the BVI with its contentious boarder. Arriving at St Martin its straight off to the famous airport before having a look at the odd things I find interesting about St Martin.
