Twenty-four hours after rounding Cape Horn for the very first time in his career, Benjamin Schwartz reflects on the challenging conditions encountered aboard Sodebo Ultim 3, since the start of their ascent of the South Atlantic. The last 24 hours have been particularly trying for the crew: unstable weather, very rough seas, and an intense pace on board. Difficult conditions, but ones that should gradually improve in the coming hours, with rising temperatures and calmer seas. Benjamin also discusses rounding the legendary Cape Horn, a powerful and "memorable" moment for the six crew members who were rounding it for the first time. An even more special moment for him, as he, along with five of his crewmates, has now become a Cape Horner. Day 29. Started 2026 off with a Liveaboard diving trip to the Galapagos! We boarded the Tiburon Explorer for a week of diving at the start of January. The waters off the central islands of the Galapagos is very cold. A 7mm full wet suit in 14-15 °C or 57- 59°F waters isn't enough at times. Need gloves and a hood too. But the epic stuff (Hammerheads!) is usually spotted at Wolfe and Darwin islands, and the waters there are much warmer, still cold compared to tropical reef diving. It's mostly stationary dives, the currents are very strong, and the liveaboard gives you emergency GPS locators on your BCD for that exact reason. Eind 2025 ben ik voor het eerst sinds jaren weer solo in de theaters met een kleinkunst/cabaretvoorstelling. Nou ja, solo, ik ga op toernee met mijn jongste zoon Mees en mijn enige neef Daan. Zij zijn muzikant en ik ben apentrots dat ze mee wilden. Het programma gaat over volwassen worden en de vraag of je dat wel moet willen worden. En natuurlijk over de vraag wie er volwassener is: ik of mijn eigen kinderen? Omdat voor het eerst in tijden weer 'solo' op het toneel te staan ongelofelijk spannend is maken we een achter de schermen video, 'the making of'. Dit is het eerste deel, more to follow!

The challenge was ambitious: students who had joined the course only a few months earlier — in March 2025 — and who had no prior background in yachting, were asked to design an access gangway to the yacht’s beach platform.Hydraulic or electric, telescopic or stepped, fixed or removable — each project explored different technical and functional solutions, all integrated into a real yacht context. Choosing the best was anything but easy. Multiple aspects were considered, and the final decision, although unanimous, was the result of a thoughtful and demanding evaluation process.
