A huge part of the attraction of the sailing lifestyle is being able to anchor in beautiful remote parts of the world. The camaraderie of the sailing community is another. In this episode we anchor by a remote island in the Ria de Arousa where we meet up with SY Heron after not seeing them since A Coruña. In the same anchorage is the sailing yacht Mahi Mahi, another Dutch boat that we know. With friends around a beach party is bound to happen. So we break out the potjie once again. Later joined by friends from Dance Me, Alskling II and Noorderzon. Extra footage provided by Heron and Mahi Mahi. Thanks guys! Music by Troy and Paula Haag.

I travel to California to honor my best friend, Mario, who has passed by spending time with Angela, his wife, Joel Long Beach, Jason and Avalon. When I get back to Key West, I have to set up the solar panels and untangle my mooring lines, discovering a barracuda under the boat! Then we make an early start in thick fog but our trouble with engine cooling reappear. When the sun cleared up we got visited by dolphins bow-riders, in the afternoon we reached a milestone when we rounded the most south-western corner of Europe. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders some 5 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. 2021 we sailed the Atlantic coast of Europe. Youtube analytics say that our viewers also watch RAN Sailing So if you like other similar sailing channels you might like our content.

In this video we explain how to tie a bowline when you can’t see your hands. Many of us have learned the rabbit-hole-tree method, but I find that difficult to use when I can't see what I'm doing. With practice the method shown in this video can be done by feel, without the need to see your hands. To tie the bowline around an object using this method, simply pass the bitter end around the object before passing it back through the thumb loop (i.e. between steps 2 and 3) and pulling the knot over itself. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. After leaving the Osborne Islands we sail across to the Mitchell River famous for its spectacular waterfalls. We head up past the Middle Rock anchorage and across our first series of shallow sand bars to anchor out the front of Surveyors Creek, where launching the drone get an aerial perspective of just shallow the area actually is. In the morning we head up Surveyors Creek and find the most magical water holes and waterfalls to cool off in, having a little difficulty getting out as the surfaces are so slippery. We then head across the very shallow sections of the Mitchell River delta and up the 15 nautical miles to the rock bar which separates the salt water from the fresh water flowing down. Sending the drone up we capture some more stunningly amazing video before our worst nightmare comes true, we crash and lose the drone! We’re Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022. We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change. We are just an ordinary Aussies couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other YouTube channels to follow our dreams. #seawind1260 #kimberley #circumnavigationaustralia #seawindcats #mitchellriver #dronecrash #waterfalls

Prima uscita 2022. Maestrale irregolare (12/20 nodi). Pilota automatico in avaria. Quello di rispetto non teneva quando il vento aumentava (e braccio dolorante post booster). Comunque piacevole.

We are "Viewer Supported" Media, Join our team visit http://www.boatson.tv Highlights of what's happened so far in the first week of 2022. This is the Sailing World on Water, January 7, 2021. Here are the highlights in the sport of Sailing in the last seven days. This is the twelfth year we have produced a weekly highlight show of the best sailing videos from all over the world. We film, distribute, and work with Sailing content producers globally, and we have hundreds of hours of top quality sailing content on our YouTube Channel which has 27,500 Subscribers. We are viewer funded, so if you would like to support us, then we have Pay Pal, Patreon, and website joining opportunities. We started this week's show looking back at 2021 from the perspective of World Sailing. And what a year it was. And 2022 looks good also, as, starting tomorrow, is the RORC Trans Atlantic Race. from Lanzarote to Grenada. The fleet is led by Comanche and Power Play. It's a strong fleet of 30 entries. The Grand Finale of the Youth Foiling Gold Cup ended, with the Young Azzurra team finishing in fourth place in the general classification. This last event concludes the Young Azzurra sports program, launched in 2020 by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda with the aim of forming an Italian team to participate in the Youth America's Cup in Auckland. What an amazing final day of action at the Tarifa, Wing Pro 2021, where 15 year old Riccardo Zorzi, stormed up the ladder to win the Surf-Freestyle discipline. On the racing side, Mathis Ghio, and Olivia Piana showed amazing focus and speed to win. Team Childhood is a Swedish - Dutch joint venture sailing programme which draws attention to the World Childhood Foundation. The aim of the campaign is to offer young sailors the opportunity to learn and improve. Here is a wrap of their activities during 2021. Harry Price’s talent was obvious before he came into the 18's this season as skipper for the long-term sponsor, Rag and Famish Hotel, but it’s still hard not to be surprised by just how quickly the level of his, and his team’s ability, has been highlighted under very difficult conditions. Of course the happiest sailor in Australia was Matt Allen who had his protest for time redress against Celestial, the winner on elapsed time of the ROLEX Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, upheld. He then was elevated into first and gained his third win in his yacht Ichi Ban.

It was another perfect summers day at Murrays Bay Sailing Club for the final day of the P Class Tanner Cup, the inter-provisional event held prior to the Tauranga Cup, which is the National Championship for the class. The PredictWind forecast was 10-14 knots from the SW, and while the fleet were delayed on shore for an hour, and then delayed on the water, the fourth race of the series finally got away at 1410 hours. 18 sailors were on the start line ready to go, but proceeded with caution after seven UFD’s were issued in the second race of the series on day one. Joe Leith, who was sitting equal second coming into todays racing, port tacked the fleet at the start to secure the opening win of the day after having a pretty solid lead for the entire race. But Joe was kept on his toes as he worked to keep control of William Mason, who finished the race in second. Third was Blake McKinnon. The competition at the front of the fleet is tight! Cameron Dunn, Commodore of Murrays Bay Sailing Club and resident expert at Live Sail Die said, “Joe used a tried and true method – start in front and go from there. It’s a lot easier to win races that way,” stated Cam, who had his eyes peeled on the racing since the start gun was fired. The second race of the day, and the penultimate race of the series, started at 1510 hours with the fleet taking on the 12-16 knot south westerly. A few white horses (white caps), kept the kids busy with hiking and the relatively short/sharp shifts definitely kept things interesting! “You can see it just looking at the fleet. Some are heading much higher than others out there, so you can see the shifts unloading on the fleet,” said veteran P Class enthusiast Richard Brown, watching through binoculars from the Murrays Bay Sailing Club Race Management Tower alongside Cam Dunn. The race was thrilling and condensed the top ranked sailors resulting in Joe Leith and William Mason ending the race on equal points overall. The gun for race five went to Blake McKinnon, with Will Leech in 2nd and Ashton Cooke in 3rd. William Mason has a 10th, with Joe finishing 5th, after coming back from 11th. The weight of the world was on these young sailors shoulders and they headed into the final and deciding race of the event. The conditions changed for the final race with the breeze dying off to about 8-13 knots – it was all on for these young sailors. At the top mark, Nick Olson from PredictWind called the roundings. William Mason went round first followed by Blake McKinnon in 2nd, Ashton Cooke 3rd and Joe Leith cleanly round in 4th. Game on. “There was plenty of chatter as they went round that mark! Pretty sure they weren’t planning their social engagements. It was ON!” said Nick. “Blake McKinnon is having an awesome day, and took the lead at the first bottom mark rounding,” continued Nick. “The fleet split at the bottom mark with the sailors who went left hooked into the new breeze. The ones who went right haven’t hit that new breeze yet, and it’s pretty shifty. Like what Grunta (Grant McKinnon – Blake’s dad) said yesterday, glad it’s them and not me!” said Nick, who used to sail P’s back when he was a wee grasshopper himself. For Blake McKinnon to win the regatta, he needed to win the final race, with William Mason being 4th or worse, and Joe Leith being 3rd or worse. And you know what? That’s exactly what happened. Blake McKinnon, who came into this regatta with no expectations, and just hoping for a top six finish, has claimed victory in the P Class Tanner Cup for 2022. An outstanding effort by this young sailor, who was adorably humble about his win when he hit the beach after a long afternoon on the water. Blake won the regatta on count back from William Mason, with both sailors finishing on 13 points, but it was Blake’s solid finish winning the final two races that claimed him overall victory. Taking out the top female place was Bella Jenkins from Kohimarama Yacht Club, who beat out her competition Charlotte Palmer from Charteris Bay Yacht Club by just one point. With the Tanner Cup now wrapped up, attention is turned to the main event, the Tauranga Cup, where any P Class sailor can enter and race for the National Championship title. Murrays Bay was a hive of activity this morning as those sailors lined up to get their boats weighed and measured ahead of racing. The Tauranga Cup is held over three days, with three races scheduled for each of those days. Racing is scheduled to start at 1200 hours each day. The forecast will have the sailors on edge, with everything from 4 knots to 18 knots on the cards. Awesome! Congratulations to the 18 sailors who competed in the Tanner Cup representing their region. And a massive congratulations to Blake McKinnon for taking the win.

On Ascension Day I sail from Terschelling over Sea to Texel. As soon as I have rounded Texel I have to beat upwind for quite sometime to arrive at Oudeschild. The wind is a very fresh breeze around 21 knots. I sail into the harbor of Oudeschild at 7.2 knots speed and 3.0 knots cross current. I did ask permission first. It takes 16 seconds to lower the mainsail and a total of 1 minute to lower both sails. Hope you guys enjoy the video. If you do, please subscribe.
