Il primo episodio del nostro giro d'Italia in barca a vela. In questa video partiamo da Lignano Sabbiadoro, attraversiamo l'Adriatico verso la Croazia e atterriamo a Rovigno per le pratiche di ingresso. Facciamo tappa a Veruda per visitare la zona e poi scenderemo le isole del Quarnaro arrivando al Marina di Kremik dove lasciamo la barca per una settimana per poter rientrare al lavoro. Im ersten Teil führt uns unser Segeltörn von Kiel nach Helgoland weiter nach Wangerooge. Es ging dann nach Norderney, Oost-Vlieland, Makkum, Medemblick und Amsterdam. Nach IJmuiden fuhren wir wieder auf die Nordsee, in Richtung englischen Kanal. Wir besuchten Boulogne-sur-Mer, Dieppe, Le Havre und Honfleur bis wir in Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue waren. Es lief nicht immer alles nach Plan. Es war ein Trip mit höhen und tiefen.

Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. Bereits 2018 starteten wir Richtung Wien, doch ein Motorschaden in der Straße von Messina zwang uns, den Überstellungstörn abzubrechen. Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. Am vierten September kamen wir in Wien an, 980 Seemeilen und 2120 km über die europäischen Wasserstraßen lagen hinter uns. Seitdem liegt Squib in der Wiener Kuchelau, der Refit hat bereits begonnen. I spend the whole day restoring the Seahopper and then turn my attention to her little old 2 stroke outboard that doesn't go quite to plan. The outboard is an old Mercury 3.3HP 2 stroke. A classic engine thats so simple and built to last. Relocating the engine control panel was a big improvement, but left some serious ugliness in the galley area. I build a beautiful box to hide this in plain sight. The chunky cable to the engine is routed along with the beginnings of the NMEA2000 network. In further beautification, the saloon cushions are upholstered as I learn some sewing skills! This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of the build as it progresses and aim to show as much detail as possible of the various aspects of the build. In this video we finally begin sailing our own boat across The Bay of Biscay! With its fearsome reputation for rough weather we had spent months wondering when was the best time to cross the Bay of Biscay and watching the weather waiting for a weather window to cross Biscay to Spain. Join us here in early August as we finally sail across the Bay of Biscay on a 48 hour passage where we see shooting stars in a meteor shower, bioluminescence, as well as a lot of Spanish fishing vessels along the edge of the continental shelf. We have to motor some of the way but enjoy some good sailing and are even able to shower and eat at the table. We set sail at dawn from Queenborough on the stunning Swale to head 50 miles up the east coast to Suffolk Yacht Harbour on the picturesque River Orwell. One of the most beautiful rivers to sail. A lovely meal in Levington was followed the next day by a superb sail back home to Gillingham Marina on the River Medway. We activated a 1 pointer in the forest of Norway on a beatiful day with Zkipper the Puffindog. Slept in the car, made some food and coffee before we went for a nice walk to this litle hill.

We walked for Summit on the air number two this day. Got quite and then dark. But we managed to activate and happy with that. Collecting points and visiting new places around in south-east of Norway.
