We discuss the main reasons to join a sailing rally, the different types of sailing rallies, and interview participants and organizers of the GLY World Odyssey 500 rally. The rally we will sail with is organized by Grande Large Yachting, a company that owns 5 different shipyards, and the rally was planned to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the first round the world by Ferdinand Magellan and Juan Sebastian El Cano 1519-1522. There are 32 boats in the rally and BioTrek is joining in Martinique, although most boats started in France and crossed the Atlantic Ocean together. The rally was planned with the help of Jimmy Cornell, founder of the ARC and renowned world cruiser. Let's face it I've never once tried to say I was an expert woodworker and this video will show my faults in every way possible. This miter saw has been annoying me for years in its current position. My table saw is always in the way. And I absolutely hate feeding my saw from the right. So I decided to move the saw from its long time place to a new place.... Well lets just say my wonderful ideas didn't work out as quickly or even remotely how I wanted them to. I ended up using my real skills to machine some threaded feet, using a nutcert tool (rivnut) and leveling everything as best as I could. I finally gave up. As most sailing channels we also struggles with the issue of windnoice so subtitles will therefore improve your experience. In this episode we fokus on a lot of different boat projects that we made when we discovered that Lagos had a pretty good chandlery and boatyard. On top of the list was engine service, fixing the windlass and jib furled but also the aft head. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. The sailing in our home water the Baltic Sea is part of our preparation to sail to the Mediterranean Sea. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.
