My first big outing on Piglet, I spend the whole day messing about on the River Weaver! We launch from the Runcorn rowing club jetty and off we go under the motorway bridge and on towards Frodsham and then on to the countryside which was beautiful and so peaceful. Next I have a really pleasent row, which not only test's out my new oars and oar sleeves, but it shows how wonderfully easy this boat is to row. It almost goes as quick as the motor!! The fuel efficiency of the outboard was great, especially while pootling about 4-5mph. We pass under Dutton viaduct as we get right into the groove of river life!! and shortly after we get to Dutton locks. I moor up by a huge canal boat and ask the lock master about going through them, however it was a definite and resounding "NO!" I even got another boater argue my case but it is definitely a no go so our outward journey ended there today. It was interesting to watch the lock in action and have a nice chat with the lock master and another boater. There should be some places where the canoes get in and out so I might try that next time. On our jurney back we test the motor and see how fast we can go!! Depois de reiterar por muitos anos que nunca teria um animal na minha casa, uma cadela pariu na porta da minha residência e fui "obrigado" a cuidar da mãe e de dois filhores. Não gostava desse bicho. Mas, a partir do sétimo mês de idade notei que o macho (o THOR) era muito apegado comigo. Então comecei a leva-lo diariamente nas minhas caminhadas. Criou-se, entre nós, uma amizade muito bonita e elogiada por pessoas amantes dos pets. Com o tempo, de forma natural e impeceptível, o cão passou a me obedecer em muita coisa, Inclisive não atravessandoa rua sem minha ordem. No mês que completei 66 anos, e o Thor 2,5 anos, por insistênica de amigos e principalmente da minha filha, comprei minha primeira bicicleta da vida. Quando fui pedalar a primeira vez meu corção partiu ao deixar meu amigo. Tentei coloco-lo no guidão, mas ele é grande e eu muito barbeiro. Então encostei a bike e não andei enquanto não comprei um reboque para puxá-lo. Como sou aventureiro por natureza, resolvi criar um desafio: sair de Morrinhos, GO, e chegar até Paraty, RJ, onde mora minha filha. I make the door on the box that covers the engine control panel and chart plotter backs, using recycled teak and a small whiteboard, and then tackle the first of the v-berth cushions. This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. In this episode we sail to Porto Palermo, an Albanian military zone, which also holds the century-old Ali Pasha castle. There are only few options to find shelter in Albania and with strong northerly winds arriving, we were given a tip to tie up to a pontoon in the bay. Little did we know that the pontoon was built to dock large ships & submarines and soon we were boarded by police and asked to leave. After moving CUBA to Himare, we decided to take the dinghy back to explore the castle, where we learned more about the history of this place and were surprised with a private concert! Last week, (Friday 28 January 2022) we carried out some exciting work on Götheborg. We’ve made two new yards for the ship, a main yard and a fore yard. (Video on how to make a new yard: https://youtu.be/1870t8r0F60). One of the final steps is to put on iron rings, that are used to fixate the joints of the yard. The work is done in the historically correct way; the same way these large riggs were built in the 18th century. The rings are precisely measured to fit the exact place on the yard where it’s supposed to go. They are heated to 800 degrees Celsius in an oven, carried over on hooks to the yard, then pushed and pounded into place, and shaped with big sledgehammers. This involves fire, smoke and a lot of work. Finally, the rings are cooled down with water, which shrinks them, and fixates the different parts of the yard. This is a rare piece of craftsmanship, as it’s only done when building new yards, bowsprits and masts. Götheborg is one of very few ships in the world that use this technique. We like to hike though there is winter in Norway. We found a Nice cottage the first night after We startet on this trip. The next day We walked 6 hours to the SoTa spot and there finally activated this two pointer with winter bonus. The days are short in januar, so We put up our tent and spent a quite night in the forest wintertime. Then We walked back next they to go for more Summit on the air points in Norway.

Something that always excites while sailing is being visited by dolphins. We never tire of seeing them and it always brings us joy. We always say that when you see dolphins, your day can never be bad. We finished our time in the Spain and leave the Ria de Pontevedra and head south to Portugal. Our destination is the surfers paradise of Peniche. Leontien's nephew and his girlfriend are there and want to meet up with them While sailing south in Portugese waters we had the best dolphin encounter yet. They swam and played off the bow of Make My Day for about an hour. We were laughing like little kids the whole time. And of course we were filming the whole time as well. After having enjoyed Tenerife to the max, it really is time to set sail again! But… The last weeks strong southerly winds have tormented the Canary Islands. This so called ‘Calima’ contains sand from the Sahara. It paints the sky, and Zeezot, orange-brownish. Sailing South was impossible. That’s why we had to stay in Garachico a bit longer. But once the winds calmed down, we pulled up the sails and finally found our sea legs back!With still a lot of sand in the sky, the snow covered El Teide, though looking mystically pretty, soon disappeared behind a curtain of silk. Within a few miles we couldn’t see land anymore and it looked like we were far out in the open ocean. The conditions for sailing into our first acceleration zone could have been better… Join us and discover where we sailed to!
