The Rolex Sydney Hobart is an offshore classic and after the pandemic forced organisers to cancel last year’s event, there was a keen appetite this year among sailors and spectators alike for the Boxing Day special. According to the competitors, this year’s 600 mile race to Tasmania turned out to be one of the toughest ever. But the history books will mark this race as special for another reason, that of the spectacular achievement of one man and his crew in particular.

If I'm going to get my boat launched and up to Maryland to finish the interior, I need to get the bottom done. I'm thinking about doing Copper Coat or something similar. After some experimenting, here Is what I found to be the best way to get the old bottom paint off of your sailboat, it should work on power boats too. We organized, worked on the AC, goofed off on deck, tried to figure what the inside of the hatches should look like, and danced. While working on the AC we discovered a naughty knot transducer leak. It was simply not tightened enough. The 10 gauge wiring is in place between our panel and the aft sail locker and forward under the bed. New thru hulls are in place for intake and discharge. We have a new Dometic ECD 16k BTU AC unit with a 500 gph March pump. Still waiting for ductwork and registers. The plan is to purchase another setup for aft. The weather has been nice so no hurry. We took off from Thailand, Krabi boat lagoon. It was a bitter sweet leaving friends we made during 2 years. Winds did not look great, but we had not many options after our visa ended and we checked out of Thailand. But the uncooperating winds, raising tides, what means current against us and countless fisherman boats with nets forced us to stop in Nai Harn - most southern bay of Phuket. Next day we left again. La produzione e gli allora responsabili del turismo in Tunisia decisero di lasciare a Ong Jmal tutta la coreografia e fare diventare questo sito una attrazione mondiale. E così è stato. Non solo.
