In this episode we take off from Sandy Hook, NJ down to the Chesapeake Bay. Along the way we stop for one night in Atlantic City behind the Harrah's resort. We anchor in the most unprotected anchorage to get a quick nap and then we set off for our most intense sail to date, The Delaware Bay. We saw 18-20 knot sustained winds and gusts of up to 25. Come along for the adventure! Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sailingnaida Music: Epidemic Sound (www.epidemicsound.com) #sailing #sailingcouple

Bringing Yabá from wreck to dreamy! Episode 68 In this episode we finally bring our engine back into the boat, by carrying it in our little VW bus. We also show a quick recap of all the works our engine has gone through. For the woodwork lovers, there's also some exciting news! Our cathead gets installed back to our bow. We hope you enjoy it! We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted 70ft wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the works needed were a lot more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us. Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. Self-reliance and living a sustainable lifestyle are a must. [GET ONBOARD] Behind the Scenes: https://www.patreon.com/nahoa Our biggest question asked is what we did with our bulkheads? Have we had issues with them? We are constantly checking, re-checking and re-inforcing our boat. Fact is this boat was built for the charter market. That means trade wind sailing conditions. Not extended gale or storm force conditions. But we Love Lagoon catamarans. Their price point was within our range when we were purchasing a boat. They have fantastic layouts. You are also at anchor 80% of the time but safety and integrity of the boat must come first when you are offshore with your family for weeks on end. We would love for Lagoon to beef up their construction considering what these boats are used for on the secondary market. Hope you enjoy this episode. How much space do you really need on a toilet to do your business? Well at least enough room to reach behind you and wipe!! Last week you'll have seen that we received our compact toilet from Vetus, and this week we figure out placement for it in the master head. Which truthfully, is much easier said than done since we need to consider how far it will intrude in our walking space, as well as how much counter/vanity space it could cut down on. Plus, there's the ever important 'reach around' test. Then we take a few minutes to discuss our thoughts on the Vision 444 catamaran, which is one of the boats we had really been looking forward to touring at the Annapolis Boat Show, but did not make it. Thankfully we'd been introduced to the owner's last summer and they were happy to have us aboard to poke our heads around before departing for warmer waters. As a catamaran sized much closer to ours (as opposed to the 48 & 52 foot versions we saw at the show), it gave us a great idea for what's possible in that kind of spacing. Plus we loved the design (similar veneers) and use of color and vinyl. Enjoy!! Much love from Annapolis! During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on Jupiter² and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time. We made it back to The Bahamas onboard our Leopard 45 sailing catamaran! The weather wasn't the greatest. We had squalls, wind, waves, rain, more waves, more wind, and even a Water Spout... But we finally got there. In Bimini, we adjusted our rigging. Why? Well, we were hearing a loud and unusual creaking sound coming from the port starboard bulkhead while sailing on a port tack. We had the rigging tuned in Ft. Lauderdale, but it created difficulties in opening and closing doors in the forward cabins and hanging lockers. After discussions with the rigger, we asked Dax from Aurora to help us loosen each turnbuckle. We've never done that before. Neither has he, but he has an incredible mechanical aptitude. Then, we anchored too close to the channel off Cat Cay, and got up close and personal with some stingrays at Prime Cay. And the sunsets are amazing, as always. And now for the music. Damon Fowler has been friends for a hundred years with Eddy Wright, another blues musician. They've been writing songs and performing together since they met. Many years ago they recorded two CDs, and we were lucky enough to get our hands on them. And the music in this video showcases some of our favorite songs from those CDs. We hope you enjoy them.

Soooo maybe we shouldn’t have moaned about being bored in our last video because things were about to get CrAzY!!! No in all honesty, we are seriously grateful that our journey crossing the Atlantic went exactly as it did beforehand and our time aligned perfectly with finding this stranded man on his dismasted yacht. It was a French boat and at the time we had found out that his boat had been dismasted by a squall three days prior to us finding him. We can only imagine how scared and uncomfortable he must have been rolling around the Atlantic waves and not knowing how long it would be for. When we saw him and edged closer, we saw him wave a little pink cloth to get our attention. Once we grabbed the line he put out for us, he fell to his knees and prayed. A vision we will never forget. In this video you will see when we first spotted the dismasted yacht and the stranded man rolling around the seas. We immediately took out all our spare rope and rigged up a tow line as best we could. As night set in, the sea state gets worse and we try to call the surrounding coastguards for help incase the tow line snaps again during the night… you won’t believe what happens at the end of this video 🙈🙊 ♡ Welcome to our Sailing Vlog - Sailing Coco! After 7 years of renovating boats, we restored our Snapdraggon 27, sailed our 33ft Colvic Countess Monohull around the Med and then left London for good once we bought a Lucia 40 Fountaine Pajot Catamaran! We are off! It's time to pack up our mighty ship and leave the boat yard. No!! we are not finished with the upgrades but it's definitely time to do a bit of sailing. Yes!! We are some of those crazy people who weigh everything that we put on Paikea. This episode it's all about why. Why you need to keep track of how heavy your boat is and why it's critical to safety and performance. We talk about why you shouldn't make your multihull too heavy (or too light) and the advantages for keeping your boat in that sweet spot. Four races were held on day three of the 44Cup Calero Marinas in perfect trade winds conditions – sun, waves and easterly winds at times gusting to 20 knots. Discrete stars of the day were Igor Lah, tactician Adrian Stead and the crew on Ceeref powered by Hrastnik 1860. Despite never winning a race today, the 2017 and 2019 44Cup champions podiumed three times and scored no result lower than a fourth. Such consistency was rewarded with them going into the final day holding a massive 11 point lead over Vladimir Prosikhin's Team Nika. As testament to the intense, but surprisingly equal racing, after six races, all ten of the RC44 teams had podiumed. After today’s final race six had won races.

The Alpine butterfly knot, also known as lineman's loop, butterfly loop, butterfly knot and lineman's rider, is a knot used to form a fixed loop in the middle of a rope. There are multiple ways to tie the Alpine Butterfly knot, in today's video we will teach you the wrap method where we form the knot by creating three loop around you hand to form the base of the kont. It can be tied without access to either end of the rope, this is a distinct advantage when working with long sheets or halyards. The Alpine butterfly knot is an excellent mid-line rigging knot, it handles multi-directional loading well and has a symmetrical shape that makes it easy to inspect. The Alpine Butter fly knot is great for creating temporary purchase systems which can help secure items with additional holding power. Making it great for tying down dinghies, spars, sails or just about anything you can loop your rope around. The Alpine Butterfly knot will tighten on itself making a secure loop or purchase system, it can be easily undo even after heavy load is applied making it a great temporary solution when a loop is needed. The team at bottom up boats hoped you enjoyed this Know Knots video demonstration where we should you how to tie an Alpine Butterfly Knot.

Sprit sparen leicht gemacht!
