I needed a miracle and Caraibe Marine came up with a very good solution to my major setback! My Fischer Panda 8000i Generator have been sitting in the basement un used for more than a year due to challenges with parts and also in need of a crazy overhaul. I was not even sure if it was beyond savable. My generator from Fisher Panda has not been used for a year, and the result of being sprayed with salt water after some leaks was not a good sight. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. We've been sailing with full time jobs for nearly 2 years, preparing for the day when we could cast off the corporate life lines and start just sailing full time instead. Well. That day has arrived, and it's a little bit sooner than we were expecting. Yesterday we got some news that we never really expected to hear - Charles' company was restructuring and his position was being eliminated. It's a risk you take when you work at a VC backed startup - but it's still surprising when it happens, and that has thrown a wrench into everything. We were always planning on going sailing full time once Charles' job was over - but we were expecting that to be at least 6 months from now. All of that means our cruising kitty is nowhere near what we expected it to be and we're taking a new look at how YouTube can supplement that. But at least for the next 3 months - we are in the Bahamas without having to worry about the logistics of staying employed! So we created a "Bahamas Bucket List" - 100 things we want to do in the next 100 days before heading back to the States. In this episode the crews of Koro Vita and Ventana continue to explore the remote Fijian island of Fulaga, including hikes to a cave with human skulls, a lookout with views over the lagoon, another cave referred to as a "bat cave" (actually filled with birds, not bats). We show you the condition of one of the village's long boats that is in need of some fibreglass repair. And finally we have a beach fire and improvised "concert" with local artists Nem and Talei, who play some well-known western hits. For the first time on the trip the wind did not go to forecast. I went down for a nap and it was blowing from the northwest I awoke it was coming from the south. Not complaining as it allowed us to get the kite up to help fight the 3 knots of tide we were pushing against. All going well we will be docked in Dun Laoghaire around 8pm.

Our love for Alwine II was at first sight. The boat is all made of wood including the masts. But time and abandonment left deep marks and we saw that the mizzen mast had a large rotten area, which would make the trip from Porto Alegre to Ubatuba impossible. Porto Alegre is more than 1,362 km away from Ubatuba, which made trips and more trips by car to prepare the boat for departure impossible. We had to make a plan to stay awhile and fix what was too damaged to withstand a terrible winter sea from the South to the Southeast. The option was to put in a temporary aluminum mast and take what was left of the wooden mizzen mast after removing the rotten piece in the hope of one day finding the right wood, the right carpenter, and rebuilding it. In the run-up to the RS Aero Intergalactic two-day regatta run by the Bay Sailing Centre at Soldier’s Point, it seemed that the first day of the event might be blown out the weekend. Winds reaching 30+ knots were forecast for Saturday’s racing but with perfect timing they abated to a very manageable 15-20 knots by the time racing started, continuing to lighten over the three races held, with the sun even making an appearance late in the racing. 24 boats, combining 5m, 7m and 9m rigs started the regatta with Cameron Shaw leading the 9m rigs, Gary Ratcliffe the 7m rigs and Robyn Ratcliffe the 5m rigs after three races at the end of Day 1. Day 2 started in very light SW winds before swinging to the northwest and increasing to 14 knots. Overall podium winners for the various rig sizes ended with a clean sweep for the Georges River Sailing Club, with Cameron Shaw winning the 9ms, Gary Ratcliffe the 7ms and Diane Vukelic the 5ms, sharing points with Robyn Ratcliffe.

The weather continues to be on our side even it is a little cold. We left Kilmore Quay at 6:15 to optimise the tidal flow and with the wind only light from the north we decided to head inside the Tiamat rock and the sand banks up the east coast.

Il "CORSO SKIPPER 1° COMANDO" ha l'obiettivo di fornire all'allievo comandante l'esperienza e la competenza per affrontare e gestire in piena autonomia e sicurezza la navigazione da crociera. Il corso è rivolto a tutti coloro che, con una buona conoscenza  delle manovre fondamentali della barca e della navigazione, desiderano partecipare ad una full-immersion di una settimana di navigazione nel bacino di mare compreso tra Italia, Slovenjia e Croazia.  Il Corso viene organizzato per consentire all'allievo comandante di acquisire l'esperienza nella preparazione di crociere costiere in condizioni di sicurezza anche con cattivo tempo e in navigazione notturna. Il corso è particolarmente adatto per coloro che sono in procinto di iniziare il corso di patente nautica e per coloro che pur avendo superato l'esame di patente, non hanno ancora acquisito l'esperienza sufficiente per condurre in autonomia un'imbarcazione da crociera. Il programma comprende 6 giorni di navigazione durante i quali gli allievi si alterneranno al comando effettivo della barca sotto la guida dei nostri istruttori per acquisire la competenza idonea al comando.

On atterrit à Bogota, la capitale de la Colombie ! On retrouve notre coloc Jay et on escalade le Monserrate à une altitude de 3152 mètres au-dessus de la mer. C’est la première fois que Véro et Amy montent à une telle altitude et malheureusement Véro ressent des symptômes du mal des montagnes. En prenant notre temps et écoutant notre corps, on réussit à atteindre le sommet des 1605 marches. Bavaria advertises with the slogan "Best sailing characteristics meet maximum comfort". Too much drumming? Or does the boat deliver what the shipyard promises?

Wir sind in unser persönliches Paradies gesegelt: Dominica! Wir hatten vorher nicht viel von dieser Insel gehört und waren komplett überrascht! So viel unberührte Natur, Wasserfälle und vulkanische Aktivität wohin man nur sieht. Es blubbert & kocht an vielen Ecken. Die Menschen hier sind so cool und nett, wir haben uns immer willkommen und das erste Mal weit weg von Deutschland Zuhause gefühlt. Leider hat Dominica aufgrund des Hurrikanes "Maria" 2017 sowie Corona noch immer eine schwere Zeit. Bis vor kurzem waren die Einreisebestimmungen schwierig. Jetzt benötigt man aber nur noch ein Impfzertifikat! Dennoch ziehen immer noch viele Boote einfach an dieser schönen Insel vorbei. So schade für die Menschen hier und alle Reisenden.
