After three attempts of glassing and having it fail on us, we wonder, will this ever come together? In this week's episode we go to glass our daggerboard case to the hull - only to have it continuously fail on us!! We glass at night when the temperatures are workable, but each morning when we come back in, we find the resin has not cured. When we are able to move forward, Matt makes the modifications necessary to turn a portion of the bottom of our hull into a fuel tank on our starboard side. Complete with custom fiberglass fittings and a few coats of the necessary paints, and that area is ready to close up! Which means, we can now bond down the sole in the owner's hull walkway. Something that has been temporarily down for months - but, once it's permanently down, means we can begin building out the remainder of our furniture on that side. In this episode, we discover that we have lost our rudder. We are still 800nm from our destination so we still need to keep the speed up while keeping everything safe in order to make landfall. The key is to keep the boat balanced so we don't keep wiping out in the lumpy seas we are sailing in. Take a look at how we use our rudder instrumentation to understand boat performance and know when our catamaran is overloaded. We need to reorganise sail configuration and dagger boards to deal with the missing rudder scenario. After dropping Marston off in Georgetown, we high-tailed it up to Lee Stocking Island to find protection from the weekly Northerly blow/storm. On the sail, we snapped a batten receptacle, and found that our watermaker boost pressure was too low to make water. With my family arriving in less than a week, we needed to address both issues. We dropped anchor behind Lee Stocking, which has the BEST wind protection from NW-SE. But, this storm was going spend about 12 hours hitting us from the SW which means a lot of fetch over the open water. But, before the high winds arrived, we had a magical display of lightning (terrifying if you live on a boat!) that lasted most of the night. Thankfully, no boat in our anchorage was struck. In the morning, we were thrilled to catch up with Megan and Nick O'Kelly, on s/v Clarity and they SAVED US by giving us one of Clarity's old batten receptacles. We LOVE having a piece of Clarity on our boat. It was a perfect fit. One problem solved!! Then we tackled the bigger issue...the water maker. Brown scheduled open heart surgery and afterwards, we learned that it was a more simple but more expensive issue. We had burned out the boost pump. Thankfully, Ryan, a fellow cruiser and distributor of Spectra, had a spare boost pump and impeller. WOW!! Both issues were resolved and we could fill our water tanks! We continue exploring Busselton with Emma getting the entire group to Forest Adventures, where we all really enjoy our zip lining experience. We drive to the Gloucester and climb the Pemberton Tree, the world's second tallest fire-lookout tree at 58 metres in height. We check out the Beedelup Falls & the cable bridge before going below the surface into Jewel Cave. We’re Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022. We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change. We are just an ordinary Aussie couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other YouTube channels to follow our dreams. The V-37 shines as a versatile coastal or offshore fish-raising thoroughbred with the legs to run long distances, powered by impressive triple outboards. We put this to the test, making it to Sydney in record time, all while making unforgettable memories along the way.

The Path to Paris has begun, and the best, young, doublehanded teams on earth race for the 2022 Junior World Championship. The fleet is in the luxurious Lake Como, Italy in some of the most scenic and serene conditions on early. The Staniel Cay Yacht Club was a highlight of our time there. We chose to buy a dock for a few nights and it allowed us to explore the island during inclement weather, and get some much needed boat projects done. Our diesel exhaust is giving us trouble again, this time filling our cockpit lockers with carbon soot (don't worry we have a carbon monoxide detector in the cabin of Seawind). I take apart the exhaust, find the problems, and get right into fixing the issue. These repairs are only temporary and I will be redesigning and replacing the entire exhaust system once home. Speaking of home, we made a huge decision while in Staniel Cay. Katy and I, along with Trio decided that it was a good time to turn around and start our journey back towards the United States. We couldn't have asked our first season of cruising to go any better. It's time to head back, rest, visit family, fix some problems on Seawind and do some other upgrades, and see where the wind shall take us from there. We leave the dock with help from everyone around, anchor over at Pig Beach, enjoy dinner and a sunset in the cockpit, and feel the love of the cruising community that surrounds us.
