Tenerife isn't only El Medano. There are plenty of other places that on a particular wind and swell direction come alive. If you're lucky you can score the session of your life while everybody is sunbathing in Medano waiting for a fart of wind. Other times... well it's wild and challenging.. But always worth it!

Set on the Southern shore of Rutland Water, an 11km2 reservoir and wildlife conservation area. With several slipways, pontoons and great facilities, Rutland SC were ideal hosts for our 'Try a Trailer Sailer' weekend. We gathered 6 boats to try out.... So this week I change the Trolley wheels back to the original ones and chop down the stand a littlel bit. Mochyn Du stands a lot better on her trolley now and the trolley no longer floats away!!! I then turn my attention to completing the Jib downhaul. I'm pretty pleased with the 3D printed Jib Hank clips I made and nthe downhaul works like a charm. lastly we get the name stickers on the boat. To be honest she simply didn;t look right until I got these back on her. Saímos de Ilhabela às 05:00hrs da manhã pois sabíamos que as 11:00hs entraria um vento mais forte, que acabamos por pegar na chegada ao Saco da Ribeira. Nosso amigo Patrick, que tanto nos ajudou em Ilhabela fez a travessia com a gente e de cara já pegou 25knots com sorrisão no rosto. Nunca vimos tantos veleiros reunidos num só lugar, o trânsito de barcos é frenético e por esse motivo as ondulações não fazem a ancoragem das mais confortáveis. The unscheduled overnight stop at Chesterfield Reef on the passage from Fiji to Mackay, Queensland in 2022 on Silver Fern was a real treat. This stunning island on the edge of a 30nm long reef is just 2km long and 200m wide and is rich in bird life. It was a battle to get ashore in the RIB and trek the 2km across the lagoon in 15-20 knots and through the coral reef to the beach. It's been a while and I wanted to upload something. So here's a minimum effort uncut clip from a sunday ride. Only 1080p cause I had to save disk space and battery and wanted to record as much as I could. I'll do something more high quality again soon, I'm really getting to enjoy riding again. Oh and I installed a powershifter. No, not a quickshifter. I can change gear by pressing buttons now, which makes riding a whole lot easier for me. It’s finally time for Nutshell to get her new engine. With the engine bay now all newly painted and ready, we take Nutshell to the lock, under tender power and meet up with the crane which is going to drop the engine into Nutshell for us. Everything goes better than expected and we are both relieved that it’s finally over! Now it’s time to install all of the wiring and plumbing. We are booked in to go on the careening poles at the Dinah Beach Sailing Club. We can’t cancel as the window for getting up onto the poles is very narrow, but the shaft to join the gearbox to the drive shaft isn’t ready. Anyway, we decide to go on the poles anyway and slowly make our way out of the lock and onto the careening poles with the help of friends’ tenders. It’s a scary operation! Thanks for watching. After a week of scraping and sanding the mast, it's time to refinish. This time I will try starting off with MAS penetrating epoxy in hopes of increasing the longevity of the varnish. I try out a novel solution to the chafing problem with the mast tangs, for which I teach myself silver soldering. I complete the installation of the new rubrail on Baby Ruth. An amazing day in the water and an amazing time on the beach, and an awful time on board. It's time to work on our apnea training as we get hypoxic. Our freezers are getting dangerously empty and we're getting hungry. Luckily, the ocean is all around us, ready to feed us. All we have to do is dive down and wrangle us some fish! My first dive down I get us dinner, a delicious and healthy Nassau Grouper. After getting chased out of the spot by sharks we decide to call it a day. Besides, our muscles were burning from the workout! Next day, freezer filling time, Jade nails us 3 delicious and invasive lionfish, I get us another grouper and I even manage to get a couple good size Chibs for the dogs. Oh but did I mention we were feeding No See Ums...um my goodness the spawns of the devil. Seriously hate those things.
