We take a look around one of the most popular trailer sailers being made today. Our tour around 'Andiamo' shows what amazing comfort and space can be squeezed into this pint sized yacht.
Join us on a tour around 'Threedom' and Astus 20.5 Sport trailer sailing trimaran. The 'Sport' model of these little blasting machines weigh under half a tonne. This means that not only will this little boat burn up any other 20 foot cabin sailer, it can be towed on its own unbraked trailer. So, even small family cars can pull this little boat - no big 4x4 required. Thanks to the massive floats, this pocket rocket sits on a super stable platform and we will show you just how easy it is to extend them to their full sailing width. Once extended, the trampolines serve as extra living space - see how existing customers use it to best effect! The tour will take you inside the 2 berth cabin and show you the larges storage spaces available. We will take you through the extensive inventory, including the break-back road trailer, the easy rigging sytems and a variety of other extras which are included with this little boat. We take a tour around the Sportina 700 Trailersailer which has come onto the market through Boats on Wheels. This 23 footer weighs only 1.25t so doesn't need a meaty 4x4 to tow it and, flaoting in only 34cm of water with the dagger keel raised is a doddle to get onto a trailer. Sleeping four crew in a comfortable cabin this little would suit a couple or a family for sailing adventures. Yet, with all lines leading back to the cockpit, and a handy mast lifting kit this boat can be rigged, launched and sailed signle handed! Find out more in this video.
We take a tour around the award winning Pointer 25 trailerable yacht at Dusseldorf Boot
One of our guests on the Pointer 22 daysailer made a video of our outing on the Solent on a lovely sunny day. Thank you Gernot - you're welcome back any time! Our Pointer 22 demonstrator is available for demo sails in Hampshire or Suffolk. Or, why not ask us to visit your club?
We took our Pointer 22 demonstrator out for its first outing on a windy day in the Solent. The Pointer sailed beautifully, and quick too. We couldn't resist a bit of match racing upwind against a 35 footer which our 22 foot daysailer quickly overtook.
We take a tour around 'GiGi', a Viko S21 trailerable yacht which has come onto the market now that the owner has decided to upgrade to something bigger. We take a look above and below deck and go through the many options which the owner added to this highly specced boat. To see more details of GiGi and her inventory, please visit this web-page: https://boatsonwheels.com/boats/viko-s21-ex-demonstrator-packed-with-extras/
In this film we take a tour around the exciting Pointer 22 Daysailer. We take a look at the lines, the deck and cockpit layout and even the hidden space below which makes this boat fit for the occasional weekend. We cover how this boat might be suited for singlehanded sailing or with a larger crew. We also have a quick look at the trailer option which comes with these boats.
We're often asked whether electric outboards offer a realistic alternative for combustion engines when cruising on a trailer sailer. The entry level Torqeedo Travel and Epropulsion Spirit 1.0 models only rate at round 3HP equivalent - not really enough to propel a typical trailer sailer weighing over 3/4 tonne into strong winds and tide. So, we tested the boat speeds (and therefore the range) which could be achieved on a more powerful unit, the Epropulsion Navy 3 electric outboard. At 3KW, the Navy 3 is reported to be the electric equivalent of a 6HP combustion engine. We put this claim to the test on the water on the Hamble River in Hampshire, UK.
Drone footage of the 'Try a Trailer Sailer' weekend at Rutland Water on the 16th and 17th July 2022 On the 16th & 17th July 2022 we descended on Rutland Sailing Club. Set on the Southern shore of Rutland Water, an 11km2 reservoir and wildlife conservation area. With several slipways, pontoons and great facilities, Rutland SC were ideal hosts for our 'Try a Trailer Sailer' weekend. We gathered 6 boats to try out.... A Jeanneau Sun 2000 A Cape Cutter 19 A BTC-22 An Astus 20.5 Trimaran A Viko S21 (and a Sailfish 19). Winds were light but we still managed 26 demo sails with more than 60 participants Thank you to all Rutland SC members and staff who supported us. Especially Jonathan Bunce who sailed tirelessly! Ofcourse, Don Munro who gave up lots of his time...and his boat. Thank you all! If you’ve been inspired to trail trailer sailing then contact us at Boats on Wheels
We take a tour around the Viko S21 trailer sailer above and below deck and we test this small yacht out on the water. The Viko S21 is a light, roomy and affordable trailable sailing yacht. Packed with innovative features and options like an integrated a-frame and mast support post for easy mast lifting, a private heads compartment and a giant rear berth make this pocket cruiser a must for those who like comfort and convenience. Thanks to 3 different keel options and a host of other choices these Vikos can be tailored exactly to your cruising needs and personal tastes. With this film we try to explain the work that goes into producing the hull of Buckley Yacht Design's innovative trailer sailer, the BTC22. In particular we aim to show how resin infusion works - the production method which makes these boats so light and stiff.
.....Back on the market! Original video Tour of 'Blue Panda', a Beneteau First 211 trailer sailer was sold by Boats on Wheels in the UK. The Beneteau First 211 is a high performance trailer yacht. A combination of a 6 foot deep, fully ballasted lifting keel and twin retractable rudders give these pocket rockets great pointing ability and stiffness. Yet, the First 211s offer plenty of comfort and safety even for single handed day sailing with all lines leading back to the cockpit and lots of buoyancy. There’s room for 4 adults down below in a stylishly designed cabin, including a sink, a stove and plenty of stowage space. Blue Panda originally came with a September 2019 survey, newly configured and serviced Admiral road trailer, high quality sails, pack-a-bag lazy jacks, a Plastimo genoa furler, Raymarine Speed & Depth, new stainless steel standing rigging, new stainless steel keel brackets, a chemical toilet and a Mariner 5hp outboard motor. Further details on our web-page: https://boatsonwheels.com/boats/beneteau-first-211-trailer/ She has come onto the market again in December 2024 and is available for viewing on the Isle of Wight. Just get in touch with us at Boats on Wheels if you want to know more about her.
This video tour of 'Hermione', a Jeanneau Sun 2000 trailer yacht which came out of our workshop in 2020, was originally intended as a sales film. It's been so popular that we've left it up even though we have sold Hermione some time ago. Dating from 2007, ‘Hermione’ has been very lightly used, not at all during the last four years, and it shows! Her hull and topsides are immaculate and her deck, cockpit and cabin shine. Hermione comes fitted out in the ‘Comfort’ version of the Sun 2000 with vinyl cream cabin cushions, sink with fresh water supply and a single burner stove . Further extras include a ‘pack a bag’ style lazy jack system, a stainless steel mast raising system, stainless steel mast support bar for stowage and towing, Navman wind direction instrument, as well as Navman chartplotter and VHF/DSC radio and a chemical toilet. She was finished with the following improvements: Brand new Peterson stainless steel standing rigging New running rigging where necessary A professionally serviced 1800kg capacity trailer with new tyres (2019) and bearings A professionally serviced 4HP 4 stroke Mariner outboard with 20l external tank Freshly laundered Quantum sails A laundered and re-waterproofed ‘pack a bag’ main sail cover Newly stripped and varnished external wood fittings A sanded hull with new antifoul, including the keel Machine polished topsides As a final job we added a brand new NASA Duet Log and Depth display with transducers. Live video tours of boats like Hermione can be arranged so please get in touch with us through our website: BoatsonWheels.com
