Join us on a tour around 'Threedom' and Astus 20.5 Sport trailer sailing trimaran. The 'Sport' model of these little blasting machines weigh under half a tonne. This means that not only will this little boat burn up any other 20 foot cabin sailer, it can be towed on its own unbraked trailer. So, even small family cars can pull this little boat - no big 4x4 required. Thanks to the massive floats, this pocket rocket sits on a super stable platform and we will show you just how easy it is to extend them to their full sailing width. Once extended, the trampolines serve as extra living space - see how existing customers use it to best effect! The tour will take you inside the 2 berth cabin and show you the larges storage spaces available. We will take you through the extensive inventory, including the break-back road trailer, the easy rigging sytems and a variety of other extras which are included with this little boat. We take a tour around the Sportina 700 Trailersailer which has come onto the market through Boats on Wheels. This 23 footer weighs only 1.25t so doesn't need a meaty 4x4 to tow it and, flaoting in only 34cm of water with the dagger keel raised is a doddle to get onto a trailer. Sleeping four crew in a comfortable cabin this little would suit a couple or a family for sailing adventures. Yet, with all lines leading back to the cockpit, and a handy mast lifting kit this boat can be rigged, launched and sailed signle handed! Find out more in this video.
We take a tour around the award winning Pointer 25 trailerable yacht at Dusseldorf Boot
An Astus 20.5 under sail in the shallow waters of Poole Harbour
One of our guests on the Pointer 22 daysailer made a video of our outing on the Solent on a lovely sunny day. Thank you Gernot - you're welcome back any time! Our Pointer 22 demonstrator is available for demo sails in Hampshire or Suffolk. Or, why not ask us to visit your club?
We took our Pointer 22 demonstrator out for its first outing on a windy day in the Solent. The Pointer sailed beautifully, and quick too. We couldn't resist a bit of match racing upwind against a 35 footer which our 22 foot daysailer quickly overtook.
We take a tour around 'GiGi', a Viko S21 trailerable yacht which has come onto the market now that the owner has decided to upgrade to something bigger. We take a look above and below deck and go through the many options which the owner added to this highly specced boat. To see more details of GiGi and her inventory, please visit this web-page: https://boatsonwheels.com/boats/viko-s21-ex-demonstrator-packed-with-extras/
In this film we take a tour around the exciting Pointer 22 Daysailer. We take a look at the lines, the deck and cockpit layout and even the hidden space below which makes this boat fit for the occasional weekend. We cover how this boat might be suited for singlehanded sailing or with a larger crew. We also have a quick look at the trailer option which comes with these boats.
We're often asked whether electric outboards offer a realistic alternative for combustion engines when cruising on a trailer sailer. The entry level Torqeedo Travel and Epropulsion Spirit 1.0 models only rate at round 3HP equivalent - not really enough to propel a typical trailer sailer weighing over 3/4 tonne into strong winds and tide. So, we tested the boat speeds (and therefore the range) which could be achieved on a more powerful unit, the Epropulsion Navy 3 electric outboard. At 3KW, the Navy 3 is reported to be the electric equivalent of a 6HP combustion engine. We put this claim to the test on the water on the Hamble River in Hampshire, UK.
A short drone film of the Astus 20.5 trailerable trimaran sailing at the Try a Trailer Sailer event which we organised at Rutland Water in July 2022. The winds were light but the participants who took part in sailing the Astus had a great time! If you would like to find out more about these little pocket rockets then get in touch through our website: https://boatsonwheels.com/astus-boats/astus-20-5/
This film provides a glimpse of the Astus 16.1 trimaran reaching under mainsail and gennaker. Note the low angle of heel of these trimarans - the wind is just turned into speed!
I'm often asked how long it takes to deploy an Astus trimaran telescopic float system. Here we demonstrate it on the Astus 16.1. All Astus boats have the same system and its super simple!
Drone footage of the 'Try a Trailer Sailer' weekend at Rutland Water on the 16th and 17th July 2022 On the 16th & 17th July 2022 we descended on Rutland Sailing Club. Set on the Southern shore of Rutland Water, an 11km2 reservoir and wildlife conservation area. With several slipways, pontoons and great facilities, Rutland SC were ideal hosts for our 'Try a Trailer Sailer' weekend. We gathered 6 boats to try out.... A Jeanneau Sun 2000 A Cape Cutter 19 A BTC-22 An Astus 20.5 Trimaran A Viko S21 (and a Sailfish 19). Winds were light but we still managed 26 demo sails with more than 60 participants Thank you to all Rutland SC members and staff who supported us. Especially Jonathan Bunce who sailed tirelessly! Ofcourse, Don Munro who gave up lots of his time...and his boat. Thank you all! If you’ve been inspired to trail trailer sailing then contact us at Boats on Wheels
The new BTC-22 Mark 2 is a British built performance trailer sailer which has been designed around the needs of single handed, family and racing sailers alike. Boasting a resin infused hull for a high degree of ‘stiffness’ at a low weight the BTC-22 also offers a powerful rig, a large open cockpit, coupled with a contemporary hull shape, long water line and twin rudders. So, the BTC-22 is sure to please the sporty sailor whether single handed or with a full racing crew. The deck plan uses modern high spec trimming systems, making for an efficient sailing experience with maximum enjoyment. There is plenty of storage above deck with two cockpit seat lockers and one large locker under the cockpit sole, big enough to take an outboard motor and lots besides. Two versions of this Buckley pocket cruiser are available – both the cruising version (BTC-22) and the performance version (BTS-22) have resin infused hulls and and are fitted with a lifting bulb keel but the superlight BTS-22 is made largely of carbon and boasts even more sail area. Both versions are compact and light enough to be trailerable. The BTC22 is a fun family boat too with plenty of room below deck. In the large airy cabin the BTC22 has 4 berths – one generous, 2 metre V berth and two giant settee berths measuring 2.5 metres each. Add a galley unit, a removable dining table and space below the V berth for a removable chemical toilet and you have all the components needed for comfortable overnight stays. This film was taken in light winds during a demonstration event at Rutland Water in the UK in July 2022. See more details here: https://boatsonwheels.com/boats/btc-22-with-trailer/
We take a tour around the Viko S21 trailer sailer above and below deck and we test this small yacht out on the water. The Viko S21 is a light, roomy and affordable trailable sailing yacht. Sailing our Astus 20.5 trailer sailer on a beautiful Summer's day in 12 knots of breeze on the flat water of Chichester Harbour. It does not take much wind for these small trimaran cruisers to get a shift on!
