Our first attempt at installing ducting in the mizzen mast for the antenna cables has failed :-( Time to try a different approach. What do you think? Both our AIS and WiFi Boost Antennas come from Digital Yacht and we bought ready-made cables from them too. We need the AIS antenna cable to run from the top of the mizzen and the WiFi Boost antenna cable from the middle. To avoid them flapping around in the mast I had riveted a plastic duct to the inside front edge of the mast. Here we see how that failed and what we are trying next. Three years ago, when we bought Vida she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc). The Défi Azimut is a great race format to test our boats right before the Transatlantic Route du Rhum, as well as an opportunity to get some images and videos. This multi-race event allowed us to sail twice with a crew plus a single-handed 48h loop with a media-(wo)man onboard. S U is a 37.8 m / 124′1″ luxury motor yacht. She was built by Broward in 1989. With a beam of 6.71 m and a draft of 1.83 m, she has an aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure. This adds up to a gross tonnage of 186 tons. She is powered by Detroit Diesel engines giving her a maximum speed of 21 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots. SU's maximum range is estimated at 1500 nautical miles. The motor yacht can accommodate 12 guests in cabins with an interior design by Dee Robinson and an exterior design by Broward Marine.

The Dolphin Day 3 of Oyster Palma Regatta 2022! The third and final day of racing at this year's Oyster Palma Regatta saw the fleet take part in another passage race, this time starting at Port d'Andratx and ending in Palma de Mallorca. With mixed conditions and a large storm rolling in behind them, it was a speedy day of racing followed by a beautiful evening at the annual gala dinner. Race Four category wins came from Lush, Kalia, Perigrine Falcon and Mastegot. What a week! It was a strange eerie calm before the storm! The big storm which is brewing is coming, thick and fast! And the need to sail on and get through the Strait of Messina too somewhere safe is even more important. We arrive at our final destination on the Thames at Chertsey. We spend a little time reflecting on the past year and why we do love boats? Going back in a retrospective makes us feel very emotional and proud of our achievements. When we look at our first episode of the barging fit out we can realise how much we have done with our both hands and no help from the outside world. It is quite unbelievable that we managed to go through the whole project in 38 weeks. We were editing the video and questioning us all the time... how did we managed to keep the momentum going? Determination and focus, are the words that come up to our minds. The last thing we wanted was an unfinished project and have the biggest part of our money stuck there, so we had to finish! Now, we are very determined in achieve all the goals we have for the next project. Sailing around the world with the World ARC organisation, but that will cost a lot of money that we are still working out how to get around. But we are again focused and determined. Wish us luck! We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.
