Non conoscendo i miei nuovi limiti, ho deciso di fare rotte non più lunghe di dieci-dodici ore. E così, fermandomi ad Agropoli, Palinuro, Cetraro, Vibo Marina, Scilla e Capo d'Orlando, siamo arrivati a destinazione. Riprenderò la mia piccola barca a vela (piccola ma oltremodo sicura) in primavera. E riprenderemo a fare i vafabondi del Mediterraneo. E nell'attesa, mi rimetto in forze nel mio paradiso di Djerba

Nuku Hiva is an amazing place to visit. The typical route people sail after transiting the Panama Canal is to the Galapagos and then on to The Marquesas Islands which is where Nuku Hiva is. After sailing in the Caribbean and Panama where crime is pretty common, Nuku Hiva was like a breath of fresh air. You don't need to lock your dinghy up every time you go ashore and the locals are very friendly too and made us feel welcome. Nuku Hiva is 339Km2 and in 2017 the population was just under 3000 people. There is a yacht Services in the harbour where you can buy Sim Cards as well as have your gas filled. There are a couple of shops and a fruit and veg market where you should be able to find everything you need though the prices are high. If you are heading this way from Panama, stock up with as much as you can and you will save a lot of money. There are lots of amazing hikes in the area and they are well worth doing. Daniels bay has one of the best which takes you up to the waterfall. Although you pay $10 per adult to do the hike, you are given so much fruit and veg at the end you feel like you should pay more. We highly recommend doing the hike. On our next videos we will show you more of Nuku Hiva and take you under water to see the huge Manta Rays close up. We take a two week break from sailing Holly Belle to take more sailing lessons in Hawaii. We experience sailing in the open ocean for the first time, sailing to another island, sailing in high seas, and more. With our certification in ASA 103 and 104 complete, we look forward to getting back to our boat and using the skills learned. The Burke's have been lucky enough to spend a lot of time in that area including Boca Grande, Captiva, Sanibel and Cayo Costa...all areas that will never be the same following this storm. Para todos los que se han sacado el Patrón de Embarcación de Recreo (PER) en España, la carta náutica del estrecho de Gibraltar es la que se usa oficialmente en los exámenes así que esto era una asignatura que quedaba pendiente. Esta navegación requiere poner en práctica varias disciplinas que un navegante debe controlar: Interpretación del parte meteorológico incluyendo mareas y corrientes y la planificación del viaje sobre cartas náuticas.Esto es clave para saber escoger el mejor momento del día para cruzar ya que aprovechar corrientes y vientos favorables es crítico para no terminar navegando marcha atrás. Conseguimos convencer a nuestro amigo Nano para volver a subirse a bordo y participar en esta breve aventura ya que cruzar solo nosotros dos y afrontar el atlántico por primera vez nos parecía quizá demasiado arriesgado. Me ha quedado impecable. Como su fuera nuevo. No dudes en hacerlo tú mismo, es muy fácil. Yo lo he pegado con cola de contacto, aunque hay más formas de pegarlo. Al pegarlo hay que tener mucha precaución, ya si pega donde no queremos, no soltará y romperá. Te aconsejo probar antes en un retal o una madera vieja. También te enseño a aplicar el tapaporos y el barniz. Pasa, ponte cómodo y disponte a pasar un buen rato. 01.
