It's going to take a couple of weeks to send the new rudder and the parts for the steering over from France so we have time to slowly hop towards Vuda Point marina where the boat will be lifted out for the repairs. Still a bit shaky we sail towards the main island Viti Levu and from there we crooss to the most northerly island of the Yasawa chain

Mais uma semana com o bravo Soneca desbravando o Atlântico em seu retorno ao Brasil. Nessa semana a pescaria melhorou, a calmaria voltou em alguns momentos e também deu espaço para os temporais. Com os peixes aparecendo, o cardápio foi todo voltado para a carne branca do Dourado que estava em todos os pratos servidos no veleiro. A comemoração ficou pelas 55 Mil Milhas navegadas do Soneca e pelos recordes de Singradura que cada vez mais fazia a ansiedade por chegar em casa aumentar.

A day sail out of the Blackwater, up the River Colne & back again. Went around the edge of Mersea Flat and the Molliette wreck at low tide. Then up past Brightlingsea to Alresford Creek. Planned to stay the night, but then changed my mind. No wind at all when I set off, but a good breeze coming back.

After a triumphant day of changing our cutlass bearing under water last week, a new problem arises which renders that success moot. At the tail end of our day, our prop shaft sheered off at the thread. After taking a closer look at the piece, it was evident that our prop shaft was on its last leg. It was truly a blessing in disgust to have this come up before we head into open ocean. With this in mind, we reconvene at the drawing board as we strategize how to fix it without the cost and time of a haul out. This video shows highlights of the dives during a 2-week trip to Bali (in September 2022). In the first week, we visited Nusa Penida with its famous Manta Point. The other shots were made during dives in the Tulamben and Amed area. This area is characterised by great biodiversity on the reefs and lots of "macro stuff" on the black volcanic sand bottom.
