Çıkış işlemlerimizi de Korfu Adası'ndan yaptık. Bu geçişte sanırım kalbimizin orta yerine oturan Korfu adası oldu. Onun dışında her adanın ve her adada yaşanan anıların kıymeti de şüphesiz ki büyük. It's all about the circles! This week felt a bit like Christmas. We have been impatiently waiting for some very special “wants” to arrive and they have finally made it. Supply issues this past year have made parts orders very trying and we are doing our best to not get caught up in the stress of shipping dates and actual delivery time. But there is no better feeling when the email or phone call comes to let you know that your item is in. We have very few jobs left on Honu before we start heading North. It seems that all the final odds and ends can’t be completed until the last-minute deliveries show up. But when they do, we are back at it. Polishing, fixing, and contorting our bodies to get the job done. There is a strange feeling that we are getting in this boat. A feeling of anticipation and security. The “Must be completed” jobs are coming to an end. It’s like we can see the finish line to get moving and we KNOW that our ship is secure. We have been through this boat over, and over, and over again. It feels good knowing all the intimate details of Honu Time and the fun stuff is about to begin! Yeay we are about to sail to Malta! But we are no longer a sailing couple, before we cast off the lines and start the new sailing season and boat life adventures; our tiny home on the water is becoming very lively! Our winter in the marina has been quiet for us, apart from a small detail… But within for a short few days SV CUBA is becoming a little packed. Because not only Michaela arrives from Czech Republic, but also Sarah’s parents are also joining our boatlife for a bit. They were so kind to bring us a lot of boat parts since it can be tricky to receive things by mail in this part of the world. They stuffed luggage to the brim with bilge bumps, gelcoat filler, ditch bags and anything else we needed to go further offshore with our sailboat. We couldn’t be more thankful, since we especially needed some parts for the safety onboard. Just the next day we add Michaela to the crew list of the yacht, which is an important part for her to become an official crew member for a few weeks. And the formalities for yachties couldn’t be easier and quicker in Tunisia. Everything went smoothly and now we all ready to set sail! And just like this, it’s time to say goodbye to Tunisia! We use the last day to visit the Ribat of Monastir, the oldest fortification in the Arabic world. Then it’s time to leave North Africa behind us – for now. 😊 Malta here we come! Hello! In this video we sail from Guadeloupe up to Antigua - first stop: Jolly Harbour. We then make our way across to Falmouth Harbour and after a sketchy ride towing the dinghy we go to the famous BBQ evening at Shirley Heights on a Sunday. We set sail for Green Island but after struggling our way upwind we change our plans and head back West to find the most pristine anchorage. We set up camp, have a beach day and make a fire that evening to cook our food on. This was probably one of our favourite nights on anchor in the Caribbean so far! Thanks for watching! How do you use the locks at Sault Ste. Marie (The Soo)? This episode of Sailing SV Freelance shows you how we did it, when we once again were downbound from Lake Superior to the lower Great Lakes. Vicki and I have several times passed through The Soo, both in the American and Canadian locks. Generally, we prefer the smaller Canadian Lock, because it’s so super easy to use by recreational crafts. The huge American Locks are better suited for the freighters, but you are free to use either. Incidentally, Sault Ste. Marie is an old community by American standards. It was established in 1668 by the French, making it one of the oldest in the United States west of the Appalachians. Of course, there were Dakota, Chippewa and other communities at this centrally located gathering place well before any Europeans arrived. Today, there are two cities – one Canadian and one American — of the same name on each side of the rapids. After exiting the Canadian Lock, we happened to meet a traditional Montreal Canoe, also known as a “canot du maître” (master’s canoe). These large birch-bark canoes were used during the old Fur Trade Times to carry goods on the Voyageurs’ route between Montreal and Lake Superior. You can tongue-in-cheek claim they were the first Great Lakes freighters — but because they could be portaged by four people, they didn’t need any locks to get past the rapids at Sault Ste. Marie. Drei Boote am Start ein Grabner , Ducky 13 unser kleinster und der englische Catapult Catamaran. mit den drei Booten keins , über 5m länge , geht es auf eine traumhafte Reise über die Ostsee. Weiße Sandstrände traumhafte Natur und vor allem viel viel Abenteuer . Ich hoffe der Film ist nicht zu lang geworden .... Das Team war super , Wetter hat gepasst es war von allem was dabei .
