Join us and follow the arrival of Leg 3 of The Ocean Race in Itajaí, Brazil! Click on the notification bell to get the info on when we go live! We film on an iPhone, in the night, from a bumpy boat, so don't expect the highest video production but rather enjoy being part of the fun and feeling what it is like to be a Malizian on one of the most exciting arrivals yet. This livestream covers the arrival of Malizia - Seaexplorer in Itajaí, Brazil. As sailing depends on wind and we can't exactly predict how the conditions will be close to the finish line, we can't predict the exact start time of this live. Arrival window between 05:00 and 07:00 UTC. Dreaming of doing The Ocean Race, doing this amazing leg through the Southern Ocean, finishing it after all the trouble we had early on, and winning it!! Four weeks ago, if I had been told ‘Repair your mast because you might win this leg’ I would have not believed it and said that’s not possible, we are too far behind and can’t push the boat anymore. But it worked out beyond our expectations”. The German skipper added: “This was a full team win, and I’m very proud of what we achieved.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Follow the Race: https://www.team-malizia.com/ Follow the team on Social Media: ⬇️ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/team_malizia/?hl=fr Twitter: https://twitter.com/borisherrmann Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/teammalizia/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@team_malizia LinkedIn: https://www.notion.so/Malizia-Communication-235022d4feb542248cabdd1389c21498 #teammalizia #sailing #theoceanrace #borisherrmann #brazil #ocean #lifeatsea

Bringing Yabá from wreck to dreamy! Episode 127 In this episode of our boat restoration we show what a day at the shipyard looks like. Many things happening at the same time, some more exciting than others, each person doing their own thing, us running to help everybody and film everything... a typical day in our lives. Specifically we show platform supports being welded, our hull being epoxied, furniture being built and our dinghy trying to come back to life. We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way. More about us: 👉 About us + Q&A https://youtu.be/TldDlohjwTs 👉 our website with more info about the project http://www.sailingyaba.com 💙 Massive thanks to our amazing team of carpenters that never let us down and continue to amaze us at every step of the process: Toninho, Zeca, Hélio, Claiton, William, Nezo, Nico, Adilson, Beto and Luiz. After 2 long months of boat work, SPLASH DAY is finally here!!! Putting our new boat in the water for the first time! https://www.sailingnandji.com A lot has changed in our world of late… We started out 2023 full steam ahead with some drastic changes in our lives. Arriving back into Thailand after cruising the West Sumatra islands for the season, we set our selves a very challenging goal of selling our beloved sailboat Nandji in the search for a bigger vessel for our family. With a small budget we knew we had some work ahead of us, but went about seeking out a proven blue water sailboat that would continue to carry our family around the world. Finding a Bob Perry design Tayana 47 that had been siting on the hard stand for a number of years, we checked it out and honestly, despite all of the work it needed, I fell in love instantly and knew this was the boat for us. We returned 4 times to the boat evaluating the work that needed to be done to get her floating again. Within weeks we had accepted an offer for our old sailboat, and then put in offer on the Tayana and it was accepted!! We now have a new boat that’s in need of some love to bring her back to her former glory. We were on a limited time schedule to get the boat sea worthy as the vessels time in Thailand was due to expire. The next two months have been filled with long hot days in the boat yard as we ripped tore and rebuilt the rotted interior and completed some much needed upgrades to get the boat ready for splash day. It has been a long time coming and looking back is hard to believe we are finally at this point where our new boat is sitting in the cradles. With one last late night coat of antifoul, launch day has arrived and the first phase of boat work is complete. Lets see if she floats!!! #boatlife #sailing #sailingaroundtheworld #refit #froth #tayana Support us here ❤️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/Nandji Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/Sailingnandji Merch: https://sailingnandji-shop.com I recommend the coffee mug 👌 Socials and all the other places you will find us🤘 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sailingnandji Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sailing_nandji Website: https://www.sailingnandji.com SUBSCRIBE to our Newsletter on our website for updates on our adventures! When you start your day scraping windows, and your plan is to do a 125km overnight race in a planing sport boat, you know there is going to be a story to tell and lessons to learn. In this video we sail a Cheetah 30 sport boat, designed by Bob Amos and built by Corsair Marine, in the 68 nautical mile or 125km Blackline Patos Island Race. We encounter everything from ghosting conditions, to upwind bashing, to a glorious spinnaker run. Some boats reported frost on their decks at night, but we avoided that by thoroughly dousing the entire boat in seawater at several times during the race. Bluetti kindly provided their new 400Wh AC60 for us to review in this video, but unfortunately the B80 expansion pack that would have provided another 800 Wh didn't arrive until after the race: https://www.bluettipower.ca/pages/ac60?utm_source=%20%20sailingtips&utm_medium=youtube Disclaimer: - This content is offered solely for your education and entertainment. - There are no warranties, expressed or implicit, about any content or its fitness for a particular purpose. - There are risks of injury, death, drunkenness, and financial hardship involved in sailing. - The skipper is always responsible for the safety of their vessel and crew. - Sailing Tips is not responsible or liable in any way for anything that happens on or anywhere near your boat or any boat that we are not in command of. #howto #sailing #howtosail #learntosail #sailingtips

Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO TO YOUTUBE. DON'T WORRY, NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE IT IF YOU MARK IT AS "UNLISTED" WHICH IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO. AND YES, TO UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO TO YOUTUBE YOU WILL HAVE TO REGISTER IN YOUTUBE. SEND ME AN EMAIL TO peter@elcanoworldchallenge.org WITH THE LINK TO YOUR VIDEO INCLUDED. DO NOT SEND ME THE VIDEO AS AN ATTACHMENT TO THE VIDEO. B) IN THE EMAIL YOU MUST GIVE ME PERMISSION TO SHOW ALL OR PART OF THE VIDEO ON YOUTUBE FOR THE PEOPLE TO VIEW AND APPRAISE. ie please write - "I hereby give permission for Sailing into Freedom to show all or part of my video on YOUTUBE". C) ALSO INCLUDE IN THE EMAIL YOUR NAME, AGE, SEX, LOCATION, WHEN YOU CAN GET TO THE BOAT INITITALLY AND WHEN WILL YOU BE READY TO SET OFF ON YOUR SAILING ADVENTURE. ALSO INCLUDE A 100 WORD PARAGRAPH ABOUT WHY YOU SHOULD BE GIVEN THE BOAT. IDEALLY, THIS WILL BE IN THE VIDEO TOO BUT DEPENDING ON HOW MANY I GET I MAY HAVE TO CULL THEM SOMEWAY. I WILL ENDEAVOUR TO WATCH ALL THE VIDEOS THOUGH SO DON'T FRET BUT IF I GET 10,000 VIDEOS I WILL BE DEAD BEFORE I SEE THEM ALL SO SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE. RULE 4 - YOU MUST PROVIDE A SMALL AMOUNT OF VIDEO OF YOU GETTING TO THE BOAT, WORKING ON THE BOAT AND EVENTUALLY SAILING THE BOAT TO END THE STORY OF THE GIVEAWAY. NOTHING ONEROUS HERE, NO EDITING REQUIRED, JUST SEND ME THE RAW FILES AND I WILL PUT IT TOGETHER. RULE 5 - THERE ARE SOME WARM CLOTHES IN THE LOCKERS IN THE V BERTH. I DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO GIVE THEM TO PEOPLE THAT NEED THEM SO PLEASE DO IT. GOOD LUCK AND MAY THE BEST PERSON WIN. PLUKKIMEDES, ATHENS MARCH 2023 WORK TO DO ON THE BOAT TOILET - THE PUMP IS GOOD BUT THE LID NEEDS REPLACING, IT HAS A SMALL CRACK IN IT THAT WRECKS THE SUCTION. BOTH SEALS NEED TO BE REPLACED. BILGE CLEANED - THERE IS A SMALL LEAK FROM THE SUMP OF THE ENGINE ( A COUPLE OF DROPS PER DAY WHEN RUNNING) BUT THE MAIN OIL THAT WAS IN THE BILGE (I REMOVED MOST OF IT) CAME FROM A 4 LITRE CONTAINER OF NEW ENGINE OIL THAT GOT A SPLIT IN IT AND LEAKED INTO THE BILGE. IT FREAKED ME OUT WHEN IT HAPPENED UNTIL I REALISED WHERE IT CAME FROM. HULL AND DECK PAINTING - SAND BACK, FILLED WITH EPOXY FILLER AND PAINTED IN POLYURETHANE THE OVEN/STOVE TOP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IF YOU NEED IT - I DIDN'T NEED IT BECAUSE I WAS HAVING FIRES ON THE BEACH. I SAW A SECOND HAND ONE ADVERTISED A YEAR AGO FOR $50 BUT I WAS TOO LATE. JUST ASK AROUND. OCCASIONALLY THEY ARE GIVEN AWAY. GO EARLY TO ANY SWAP MEET FOR BOATS. ANTI FOUL - RUB IT BACK A BIT AND PAINT IT OTHER JOBS - NAVIGATION LIGHTS, MAST HEAD RE LIGHTNING SPIKE, VHF RADIO ANTENNAE (I HAVE BOUGHT IT, JUST INSTALL IT) AND AS PER USUAL, FOR AN OLD BOAT THERE IS ALWAYS ANOTHER JOB TO DO. IDEALLY YOU MUST BE ABLE TO GET TO THE BOAT WITHIN A MONTH OR 2. I HAD TO LOCK THE BOAT UP COMPLETELY - THERE IS NO AIR FLOW WHICH IS NOT GOOD FOR MOULD ON A BOAT. I DID THIS BECAUSE BIRDS IN THE AREA ARE KNOWN TO FLY INTO THESE BOATS AND MAKE NESTS. THEY CAN MAKE A HUGE MESS IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. I WIPED VINEGAR OVER ALL THE SURFACES WHERE I COULD BUT I HURT MY BACK AND I WAS IN A BAD WAY FOR 3 WEEKS WHILE I WAS PACKING UP SO IT WAS LESS THAN OPTIMAL. A BIG CALL OUT TO SAILING LA VAGABOND, SAILING UMA, MJ SAILING, SAILING ZINGARO, CALICO SKIES, DELOS, LIFE ON JUPITER....AND ANY OTHER SAILING CHANNELS TO GET THIS BOAT TO A GOOD HOME. GOOD ON YOU. TOP STUFF.

We are Patricia and Ed. We have been living on a 46 feet Catamaran and exploring the world on the water! We have always loved to travel and explore new places around the world. Our first extended trip was a road trip in the US were we got to see over 20 states and ride 30.000 kilometers on our ECO Friendly Van. It was simply awesome and raised our awareness to the fact that we did not have to be tight down to a land home to continue to work and travel. Now, we’re on a sailing exploration journey attempting to circumnavigate the world aboard JOY. Patricia did not have any previous sailing experience, but was willing to learn on the fly. Now neither of us are too technical and know how to fix things too much, super rich or retired, but we always had big dreams. What motivates us is the possibility to explore and learn along the way, share our experiences here on YouTube, be helped and help others along this Journey. We want to continue to uncover the meaning of Happiness, Joy and Kindness along the way and hopefully bring something to you that will also make you think of alternative possibilities in life. Join Barefoot Doctors Sailing as we start the Brand new Portofino 52 build with the welding of the first bulkheads and the boat takes some shape immediately! Exciting times!!! The team at the Portofino Shipyard show the first bulkheads being assembled and how they are watertight and the clear and visible strength that they have.... We also share important structural information about the P52 with discussions with Emilio D'Onofrio, the Structural and Marine Engineer and he explains how the FEM analysis is done to ensure that there are not weak points in the design and testing to assess the maximum amount the boat will flex in the worst conditions possible. This is using Italian Navy standards and he also built in a 20% safety margin too - using 1G of force instead of the actual force of 0.8G that the boat would sustain. We announce the winner of last weeks competition - so watch to the end to find out who that was and the prize.... Raffaele also announces that Portofino have a stand at the Grand Motte Show (H4) 13-16 April 2023 so anyone who wants to discuss details about the boats are welcome to meet him there! Some come Barefoot with us on this exciting journey!!! Binge watch and come barefoot with us as we travel and explore the planet, mostly from the water but sometimes through the minds of others as we provide aid and support where needed through the amazing TUFMINDS solutions! WHAT IS TUFMINDS The free TUFMINDS program is released as a smartphone program under the Exqisit Life Foundation Charity, a registered not for profit and requires financial support to fund the free program. EP129 : Antigua and Barbuda Living on a sailboat isn't just a change of address; it's an entirely new way of life, where the ocean becomes your backyard, and every day is a new adventure. We embarked on this journey with excitement, a little fear, and a whole lot of curiosity. As we set sail, we quickly discovered that boat life is a delightful mix of challenges, spontaneity, and breathtaking beauty. One evening, we found ourselves on a peculiar mission to find donkeys. Yes, donkeys! Tara enthusiastically took on the role of a detective, her eyes sparkling with curiosity as she shared her observations. Soan, the spirited explorer, dashed around with boundless energy, eager to participate in the adventure. This unexpected detour was one of the many surprises boat life has thrown our way, and we've learned to embrace the twists and turns with a good laugh and a sense of wonder. In the realm of boat living, water is never taken for granted. Our trusty watermaker is our lifeline, turning seawater into a precious resource. When it decided to take an impromptu vacation, we had to get creative and find resourceful ways to wash dishes and do laundry, all while praying for its speedy recovery. Speaking of resourcefulness, cooking on a sailboat is an experience like no other. The day we bought a lobster from a local fisherman and cooked it on the beach felt like a win, a delicious symbol of our adaptability. Our makeshift kitchen might not rival a gourmet restaurant, but the sense of accomplishment and the stunning backdrop make every meal an unforgettable experience. As we sail from one idyllic destination to another, we've met locals who've welcomed us with open arms, generously sharing their culture, knowledge, and even homemade fishing gear. The friendships we've formed have been some of the most rewarding aspects of our journey, reminding us that kindness and generosity transcend borders and languages. Of course, boat life isn't always smooth sailing. Stormy weather and rough seas can make even the most hardened sailor yearn for the stability of solid ground. But just as the waves eventually calm, so too do the challenges of boat living. And it's in those moments, as we watch the sun setting over the horizon, that we're reminded of the magic of this lifestyle. Living on a sailboat has taught us to embrace uncertainty, cherish the simple pleasures, and appreciate the beauty of our ever-changing surroundings. It's a life filled with laughter, discovery, and unforgettable moments. And although we may one day return to the comforts of a house, we know that our hearts will forever be anchored in the enchanting world of boat life. We’re Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022. We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change. We are just an ordinary Aussie couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other YouTube channels to follow our dreams. #circumnavigationaustralia #seawind1260 #seawindcats #sailing #sailingboat #sailingyacht #yacht #yachting #yachtinglifestyle #cruisinglife #tasmania

Yesterday Team Holcim-PRB crash-gybed after an autopilot issue, resulting in an all-hands-on-deck situation to right the boat and get back on their way. However this endeavour led the two top battens of the mainsail to break, which the crew had to quickly handle to resume the pursue of Team Malizia. #TheOceanRace Don’t forget to subscribe for more The Ocean Race: https://goo.gl/BzBCwU Check out our full video catalogue: https://goo.gl/nrB9ay Like The Ocean Race on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theoceanrace/ Read More: http://www.theoceanrace.com

SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. The 42 Flybridge is widely considered one of Nordic Tug’s most sought-after models. Fog Dog is a 2004 model year, hull number 57, with a 2 stateroom, 2 head layout. With her distinct build heritage to working tug boats, her hull shape is well known among trawler enthusiasts as being hardy, strong, and elegant through the water. Lots of interior upgrades have been done to revitalize her living spaces and by stepping aboard through the cockpit into the saloon, you can instantly feel a modern touch to her. The original carpet has been replaced with teak and holly wood flooring that has been double insulated to reduce engine room noise and temperature. The large windows open for maximum airflow, natural light and viewing pleasure. The living quarters, galley, and pilot house are all entered from the saloon. Nestled below the saloon is the engine room, housing a Cummins 450 HP diesel engine that allows Fog Dog to be easily navigated around docks with both a bow and stern thruster. Up a few steps from the saloon is the pilothouse, a wonderful place to spend your days cruising comfortably. A variety of Raymarine digital navigation, including autopilot, afford the operator detailed charts and info of the water ahead and below. Morse electronic engine controls, bow thruster, stern thruster, and a large helm wheel all serve Fog Dogs’ operator for easy maneuvering. The upper deck and flybridge are accessed via a ships ladder in the aft cockpit. Tall safety rails line the edges of the upper boat deck to help prevent accidents. The dinghy is an 8’ AB with a 15HP Yamaha outboard, that rests on custom chocks to the starboard side of the boat deck. The dinghy is raised with a heavy-duty Steelhead crane. A few short steps up the port side is the flybridge. The flybridge is shaded by a canvas Bimini, with comfortable seating for a captain and co-captain at the helm. Fog Dog is reluctantly being passed on to new, loving owners. Her current owners have spent many years at sea and have now decided to live a new life on land. She has provided many amazing memories for both friends and family alike, just as she will for you. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat.
Electrical Fire Disaster | We can't catch a break What a momentous occasion this leg of the trip has been. We finally made it back to where it all began. Nine months ago, we purchased/adopted our Honu and we have finally “circumnavigated” back to Hilton Head with so much more knowledge than when we started with. It was an inspiring moment to look back on where we came from and where we are headed. Amongst all this warm and fuzzies and nostalgic monuments, the worst thing you could imagine that could happen on a boat happened to us. F I R E! This is the second most scary word that is said on a boat. And at this point I’m not really surprised that we experienced this craziness on Honu. Nothing seems to shock us anymore. We are learning to roll with the punches and work the problem. Now I’m not going to say that this wasn’t a huge kick in the face. We always planned on upgrading our electrical…just not today 🤦🏻♂️ So here we go again, Electrical 2.0 Thank you for being here, for watching and supporting our channel. We love sharing our adventures and connecting with you. It’s the best! We wouldn’t want it any other way. Want to support us?
