Wir nehmen dich mit auf unsere Reise von blutigen Anfängern zu hoffentlich passablen Seglern. Getauft wurde sie auf den stolzen Namen Meera. Nach dem ersten Winterlager mit der Überarbeitung des Unterwasserschiffs, sind wir 2022 in unsere erste Segelsaison gestartet. Also kommt mit auf unsere Reise die Welt zu erkunden, für den Anfang erstmal die Ostsee. Da wir noch echte Rookies sind, müssen wir erstmal lernen zu Segeln und was es heißt abhängig von der Natur zu sein. Bevor es in die weite Welt hinaus geht, liegt noch ein Berg an Arbeit vor uns. In this episode I sail from the Bahamas to Miami and have a strange encounter in the middle of the gulf stream. We also visit the famous Miami Beach Marina and anchor at the best anchorage in Florida.

Still waiting for the Cummins mechanic and trying to keep in shape by going to the gym. Steve did do some diagnostics and found the it was a fuel delivery problem. Even though we had our fuel polished and tank cleaned a month ago there still seems to be some debris that is clogging up our fuel hose. So we are in the queue for another tank cleaning. We were concerned that the chainplate on one of the shrouds to the mizzen mast spreader had pulled up a bit creating a hump in the deck. Steve removed the ceiling in the aft shower to gain access to the chainplate’s bolts and loosened the shroud in order to add an additional backing plate. There were already 2 backing plates. With that in place we felt better about the chainplate robustness. Steve used the old shower ceiling as a template and created a new better looking ceiling. Having a little fun we did some role playing at the cabana and as always, danced the day away. It's gotten to that point of fairing where it's finally broken us. We feel like we're in an endless loop of doing the same thing day in and day out without actually making any progress forward. To be honest, we're sure it's happening....it's just very hard to see. While Matt is just over the process in general, I had very high hopes of working in our guest head, thinking it was just about finished....only to find out I was nowhere near as close as I imagined. And the thought of going through and doing the entire process over again finally sent me to tears. (Reenacted for the camera) In areas we ARE making a little progress, Matt shows the steps he is going through to get straight lines where our White Oak hardwood trim will be placed, so that when we go to make the doors, we're not adjusting *those* to fit the space. This means taking our polyester structural putty and filling in little gaps, so the trim and eventually doors can fit in without much additional work. Also, Matt gives a quick explanation of why we we're not going to be installing electronics quite as soon as we thought (and it has nothing to do with fairing!!) We hope you enjoy! How did we get trapped near a reef in a big storm in Cayos Cochinos!? We had a BIG surprise on Christmas morning and it was NOT a good one. We were told by the rangers to move in anticipation of big westerlies kicking in. So, we picked up anchor and headed off to Cayos Menor to ride out the big storm. It was a rough 3 days of constant helm monitoring, and one day of unprotected wind and waves, but we made it through!
